Thanks so much for this tool.  Works great!  But I am having an issue.  I have been using Pinballx for a while with no problems but I decided I wanted to add some playfield videos.  I've used the tool to make a few playfield videos for VPX tables but now when I try to launch Pinballx it just closes.  If I change the filename for the VPX xml then I can launch Pinballx fine.  I even tried to use my backed up VPX xml but it will not load either.  After I made one playfield video for a VPX table I was able to launch Pinballx and see that the playfield video was showing correctly but when I made a few more it now will not open Pinballx.  Is there another file somewhere that may be not allowing Pinballx to launch?  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

Gtxjoe,

I am having an issue where the PBX Recorder 1.5 version is not recording the backglass, even though the backglass shows properly on screen (and therefore screenres.txt is correct I would assume).

It records the DMD and table properly, however the video that gets put into the "Backglass Videos" folder is actually a copy of the DMD video. It's very strange.

Any ideas what I did wrong? My Pinball tables play great, just trying to get Pinball X updated to fill in the media gap.

Monitor layout:

1: Playfield

2: DMD

3: Backglass

You need to have the LAV filters from the Pinballx.com front page.  PBXRecorder only create media images and videos, so you can try deleting all the videos it created and see if that is the issue.    I have only seen Pinballx not start if there is a typo in the xml files themselves, that is not PBXR related though.

Also I don't understand why you would have to rename the video, PBXR will create files based on the table name or description name directly from the xml files based on your settings

xantari,

Most people have the playfield, then backglass, then the DMD.  For your setup, you will need to modified PBX Recorder version.  Give this a version a try.

gtxjoe, thanks the special build fixes the issue.

I do want to let you know however that the 1.5 version also does not work when I have my monitor layout typically as Playfield, then backglass, then DMD.

I actually had it in that configuration until this morning when I was trying to get the recorder to work, and was trying different configurations to try fix the backglass issue.

See here that I have the typical configuration of playfield, backglass, then DMD.

monitorpositions20_t.png

From left to right:

#1 is playfield

#3 is DMD

#2 is backglass

Even in this configuration the 1.5 version does not work.

Here is latest log in above configuration (notice screenres.txt is also set to #2 for backglass monitor as you can see from log).

I'm thinking this has something to do with Windows numbering system for monitors (which from what I can tell you can not change in the OS)

I did not have to rename within the xml I was renaming the xml itself so it would not load.  Anyway, I removed the Visual Pinball X folder from media and I removed the database folder entirely and replaced them with my backed up versions.  Now Pinballx will load.  I took the backglass and playfield videos I made and put them in the media folder and all is good.  I even made a few more playfield videos and all is good.  Something just got corrupted somewhere and I do not know what, but I'm glad I backed up just before using the recorder.  I do not think it was the recorder's fault but probably something I did.

Also, I use table folders within the Visual Pinball table folder instead of everything being loose.  I find it to be much more clean that way.  So when I use the recorder and it adds the entry in the xml, I do need to modify the game name to be my folder name for that table.  Was doing it this way this morning.  Is there a way to do this with the xml editor with Pinballx recorder?

I figured out how to get windows display settings, screenres.txt, vpinmame registry settings, and visual pinball X to all play together.

So I am able to use the 1.6beta02 without your modifications and things are recording correctly now. If I get time I'll post all of it with screenshots. Very confusing stuff!

Has anyone seen where PinballX doesn't want to play the entire .mp4 clip? Mine is only playing the first few frames of the videos recorded with PBX Recorder.

I have other .mp4's such as the PinballFX2 backglass videos play just fine.

[Update: It was pinball X setting that was using the B2S backglasses themselves instead of my recorded videos. I turned that setting to OFF so it didn't try to launch B2S backglasses natively and instead used the videos]

Hi,

How do you pause using pbxrecorder? Which key do you press?

The escape key seems to stop the process for me.

Can I change where the mouse pointer moves to? I am getting a square white box on table images just above where the mouse pointer is off screen. Video's are fine it just on the playfield images. Any help appreciated.

This is the first time an issue with mouse creating a white square has been reported.  PBX recorder does not do anything with the mouse cursor.  When VP launches the table, it seems to move the mouse automatically down off screen.

If you do a Print Screen, does the mouse show up in those screen captures?  Maybe it is a Window setting on you pc

No it doesn't show up with Print Screen and it didn't used to with HyperRecorder, but now it is and I can't seem to fix it.

Hi,

First off, thanks for such an awesome tool, It is great to have the menu images match the tables, it makes for a much smoother transition from menu to tables.

I also love the find new tables tool, it makes adding new tables much easier than using the PBX Game Manager.

I have no problems with my VP tables, but I also have Pinball FX and Pro Pinball, I would like to have the images\videos matche as well as the VP ones, I know you are yet to support either of these, but I had a thought about some "Generic Support".

Would it be possible to just have generic recording, similar to how the "pause" works for VP...

You run a generic mode, it gets to a paused state

You then load the system you want to record

Once you have the system ready to record you unpause.

After complete just have PBX output the backglass\playfield\dmd files somewhere for the user to rename and place as needed. Obviously not as automated as the VP process but at least the end result would then match up with the other tables.

Would this be an easy task?

Cheers,

Wob

Give this RecordNow.exe a try (Download and put it in the PBXrecorder folder)   It does rely on having a valid PinballX setup and screenres.txt but it should allow you to record generic playfield, backglass and dmd videos.

I have not tried this with Pinball FX or Pro Pinball, so you will have to tell us if ffmpeg recording work with it.  The other option would be to convert over to the OBS recorder that CarneyPriest uses for Future Pinball recordings

Thanks! Didn't realize it was in there.

Do you know how to make it skip files where "HideDMD" is false? Meaning hide the PinballX dmd default video.

I have these on tables that did not have a DMD, and therefore uses a default DMD video.
