From what I've seen it will work but optimal placement is speaker panel area. Not higher and not lower

I mounted mine on top of my backbox and had a hard time setting it up. I got there eventually but suspect it would have been easier if it was closer to the playfield.

Correct. Much better level with "face" then cameras pointing up or down

Thanks for all the help.

I will place them as suggested near the Speakers.

 I will see, after I received the cams. Because it is a littlte bit difficult now to find the correct place,

as I use a PinDMD, mounted also Teufel Speakers (the small cubes) and so there isn´t sooo much place left.

I didn´t think of opening the DMD Panel ever again (can screw out the PinDMD of course),

 so I glued the Panel in. No dismounting possible anymore.

But I will get this working..

Do you think 9" apart would be too close? trying to decide where to place the cams and speakers.  Was originally going to put a back-lit logo for a fake DMD, however, now that I ordered your kit, I am having issues getting everything to fit.  I have 18" to work with and the speakers are 2".  Was looking to put the speakers on the outside, and cams just inside the speakers (Would look better this way). However, if the cams would work better at 14", I could put the speakers on the inside, but would sacrifice a more stereo experience.

I think bam now allows cams to be turned sideways so if you were. To decase them turn them sideways could they fit on outside of monitor in that gap? Either way please try location first before deciding then you will know if it works

Also your cab being a mini it may be best to mount them on top of monitor in that gap! Depends how you are sitting at cab I suppose as cams need to see you while playing

Looked for the sideways option, only see upside down...  Tried them on top of the backglass, but my youngest gets a weird stretched display, or is not tracked while standing.  I will keep playing with it till I find a sweet spot.

Yeah never commit till you find a spot that works the best. Fairly sure rav added option sideways? Maybe not...cams decased are a lot smaller so may want to try that just be careful not to short them out on anything

No, I have to build everything on my own. Because of the high shipping costs. But I will use a simple batteryback with AA Cells.

As someone who has both the kinect and the ps3 eye bam kit from randr.... 

if you never tried the ps3 bam kit, you'd be happy with the kinect for the most part.

where the ps3 bam kit really is great is low light. the kinect needs to see your face clearly otherwise it goes haywire. You can use the ps3 eye kit in pitch blackness.

I don't think I'd bother. Just because it looks the same doesn't mean it is anywhere near the same...

There's software involved in making them work, and I doubt the software would recognize them either.
