----------------------------------- ORIGINAL THREAD ---------------------------------------------------------------

Originally started my thread over at Hyperspin (http://www.hyperspin...-Arcade-Cabinet) after finishing my Arcade Cabinet, however, I decided to copy my thread over here as it is more relevant now, and will keep both updated.

Here are my plans so far for my Mini-Pin. At first I was just wanting to build it as cheap as possible thinking Pinball was not really my thing, however, now that I have gone through the tables and played a bit, I am officially loving it. I have already purchased most of the parts to build an arcade style pin machine, but am already planning on building a true looking pinball down the road.

Using an asus 24in IPS for the playfield and an old 17in Neovo 4:3 Monitor for the backglass.

Progress so far:  (01-22-2015)
Cut the angle for the sides, rounded edges (rough still)
Cut the bottom and test fit sides
Cut temporary front, palm rest, and backbox rest
Test fit all buttons, speaker system, and playfield screen
Test fit the repurposed legs that arrived today (Think these were on a small school lunch table, smells of spoiled milk, lol)

(01-24-2015)

Made some progress today, but it fell short after RandR's IR Tracking Kit arrived. Set it up and played with it for an hour or so... New Pics:

(01-26-2015)

I am no longer modifying my table for the PS3 Cams/IR Tracking Kit from RandR... I will just stick to the original plan due to the kit not working properly with the small cabinet size. The IR Tracking seems to pickup everyone tall and small from about the 4' range, my cabinet is only 3' deep. I tested them sitting on top of the backglass and it worked well for tall people, but not my youngest daughter (6).

So if anyone is interested in buying the kit from me (Everything except the free t-shirt :P  Paid $106.33 + Shipping + $2.99 Drivers + $4.99 SDK Software) Asking $75 + 10 Shipping (PM Me). If not, I will just mount them to a board that fits on the backglass for temporary use. My kids fight enough without me giving them another reason to, not leaving one of them out.

No Major updates, been too cold here near Cincinnati... Been spending this extra time to plan paint colors and possible artwork to apply. For those that have not found these threads, great artwork available here: http://www.vpforums....showtopic=26497 with previews of each here: http://imgur.com/a/MhlPm#0

Hats off to stuzza for making them possible!!!

The power of photoshop helping me decide what graphics to get printed. Here is a rough idea of what it would look like with graphics from DFWArcade:

@Slydog43 Thanks!

Graphics should arrive tomorrow.  Been spraying the exposed areas black to prepare for the graphics.  Should have the graphics and t-molding installed by Sunday, I hope.  :unsure:

Graphics have arrived!!!  This is by far the scariest part of the build imo. One Side of the Backglass DONE...  Not continuing until I have a new blade for the X-acto.  Here are the updated pics:

@Bolt "Thanks"

Took almost my entire Sunday, but I have the Graphics and T-molding on.  Thanks again to DFWArcade and Lucian045 for making this thing look BAD ASS!  Hope to have the Guts back in by the end of the week...  I know my wife can't wait for the piles of tools/pc parts to be removed from the living room.  Here are the latest pics:

Thanks Guys! Re-installed the buttons, Speakers, and volume control / Wired up the Led Buttons as well. Question, I had originally planned to tape off and spray paint the back side of the play field and back glass. Any reason not to or other suggestion instead? Anything special I should do when spray painting glass?

So, I was in such a zone wiring up the cab and setting up the PC components, that I forgot to run the Power Button. :(  As of now, all I have remaining to complete hardware wise is:

Run the power button :)
Tape off and spray paint the 2 panes of glass
add the final 2 fans and attach it to the back of the cabinet.

@nebrunner Want me to mess up first and report back eh?

Everything is finished except spraying the back of the glass.  All software changes after that.  Turned out way better than I expected, but also more expensive than originally planned.  Tonight I added the back with 2 fans, USB/Audio outlet, and Wifi Antenna.  Mounted the play field screen and ran the power button of course.  Probably won't get a chance to spray the glass till closer to the weekend (Too Cold here in Cincy for now).

Started painting the glass today.  First I marked out the viewable area on the front of the glass with painters tape.  Then flipped it over and lined up on the inside of the tape from the front.  Only doing one direction at a time to make sure I have perfect corners.  First experimental glass was the cheaper backglass, in case I mess up.  Here are the pics so far:

I used Valspar Color Radiance Paint & Primer Flat Black (says for wood, metal, plastic on front) but lists ceramics & more on back.  I used flat so it would spray more evenly, and will be glossy on the other side of glass anyway.  You also can apply the second coat within 20 minutes, dry to touch in 30.  Turned out good, just cleaned the glass well and blew off any dust particles before starting.  Looks the same as any custom picture frame glass.  I also did not go all the way to the edge of the viewable screen.  Since I left the bezel on the monitors, I used black tape over any lettering/led's, and made the border go about a 1/4in away from screen (better viewing angle - playfield glass is 1/4in thick - backglass 3/32in thick)

Hard to get good pictures, this thing is so reflective now.  Will post one of the play glass once it is finished drying.

Well it looked great until I removed the play-field glass to move it.  Some of the paint was pulled off the glass, but I think it was due to the paint on the cab itself, not the glass.  The paint that pulled away is hardly noticeable and easily fixed.  Just be prepared to respray it when you have to remove the glass.

Take a razor blade and a straight edge and carefully scrape off 1/4" - 3/8" away from the outside edge of the glass where it runs in the mounting track.  That will keep it from sticking in the future.

You could also just run a thin strip of clear packing tape up each side over top of the paint.  The tape would act as a runner of sorts and keep the paint off the cabinet material.
