From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

I think you can get away with low poly screws/nuts with high detail using normal maps,  though it may be hard to tell that the screws are just part of a texture, my only concern is that later versions with dynamic camera and lighting it may become obvious the screws/nuts are not physically there.  What I did on Jurassic Park for example was combined all elements that shared the same textures and materials, what you can do is combine the textures for all the screw/nut types you have into one texture then have them all share the same texture.  It's much faster for the game engine to process grouped items this way.  Remember friends, when it comes to retaining detail in 3D for gaming, it's all about those normal bump maps!

Flupper knows all this from previous conversations we had but I just wanted to re-iterate it here for anyone interested in optimizing performance when building tables, particularly in 3D.

As always the work speaks for itself, it looks great.

Not too bad at all; but there is a screw not perfectly aligned to a post somewhere on the right side (right to the lamp) and I think there should be some more veins on the genies muscles...I dont think I will play that that table... :tongue3:

OMG, never seen a virtual pinball as real as this before (not that Im a reference). I bet theres a Jeannie coming out of the lamp, isnt it? On the release date Ill have to quit my job... :love39: maximum respect :otvclap:

It looks so incredibly beautiful it’s a serious pleasure just to look at. Can’t believe we’ll get to play it someday too! Thanks, Flupper.

This is crazy, it is just getting better when I thought it already was the best.

Small update, I have been in discussion with fuzzel and toxie on the normal maps for the lamp. And good news it is fixed in the latest 10.6 beta! I posted some details on the 10.6 beta page:

https://www.vpforums...46

My latests addition to the table have been GI off lighting; Gi on:

GI off:

There is stepless fading between the two, similar like the mountains are done in white water.

Next up are (next to some tweaking to the lamp, the balls and the environment image): flashers. This table has lots...

Screenshots are unreal... I feel like I keep saying the same thing in flupper's wip topics, but it just keeps getting better each table, and more realistic.  I look at the pictures and just shake my head.  Really great.
