Ordered a couple of new parts last night for the shaker motor:

Pittman 9414H255-R2 dual shaft motor - $16.00 plus $10.00 to ship from Ontario.

You will love that motor, same one I run in the shaker kits I put together, works great. for clamping it down you just need a couple of conduit clamps from your local home improvement store smile.gif.

Yeah, it looks good. Did you end up making your own weights for the shafts, or did you find some somewhere that you used? That was the only part I wasn't sure of.

Yeah took some 1x1 aluminium stock I had and drilled it, then cross drilled and tapped for grub screw. Worked great.

I'm really interested on how your shaker motor turns out. The only one I've seen is on wolfsoft.de, and the cost was pretty high.

Awesome - I'll do the same *grin*. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I had trouble justifying the price of the shaker motors I was seeing at pinball supply places, and I didn't feel like paying $100 for the dual H-bridge for the intensity control. You don't need the dual h-bridge, but if you have it, it allows the LEDWiz to control the speed of the motor for different kinds of events. That sounded cool, and for $25, I'm willing to go for it (though I do have to solder a wire on the LEDWiz that will be a tad delicate, but I can do that).

Artwork!

Front and side. Shiny! The reflective media looks pretty cool.

This is a better shot of the Wildfire Pinball logo on the backbox topper. It's too reflective to make out in the previous photo.

This is the side art for the backbox, before it was applied.

The front corner, with the PinGulp attached.

Back of the cabinet, with warning text and serial number sticker. There's no fans in the backbox door yet - just in the lower locations on the cabinet body so far.

A closer look at the backbox warning.

The custom serial number sticker. There'll be a network port in this area shortly, too (dragging a flash drive back and forth is a pain).

It came out pretty good! Somehow the art makes it more fun to play *grin*.

The artwork looks great. I really like the warning text on the back.

I'm curious how you mounted the PinGulp. It looks like one of the screws goes through the leg. think.gif

Both leg bolts go through the PinGulp, then through the leg like normal. It's just caught between the leg and the leg bolt head.

Thanks, maxx. Yeah, I really like the reflective media. It's different, and kind of suits the fire theme. biggrin.gif

You didn't look past the first page. Dig deeper. The second page lists sources like Amazon, eBay, Canadian Pinball Parts. I'm sure there's more if you keep going.

Looks great Paul, you would have to be happy with that

You think that's a pain, try loading onto a flash drive, then goin across town to work on and load onto the Cab.
No net at the shed, Nothin gets done facepalm.gif

@ blade...... maybe if you are nice to someone, they might get you one cheap and send it to you...... rofl.gif

Thanks, DR. I am pretty happy that it turned out as I'd planned. smile.gif

Man, no Internet at the shed? I'd totally be correcting that - then establishing a VPN tunnel to my home, where the server is, so I could grab files from the shed - but then, that's what I do for a living, so it's easy for me *grin*.

I ordered a U-HID G for testing next to the gamepad idea. I'm marginally skeptical of accelerometers, but if it works as promised, then it'll be way easier to implement and calibrate. If nothing else, it'll be fun to play with, even if it doesn't end up in the cabinet. I'm sure I can stick this thing in something else and have fun with it, if it doesn't do what I want for the cabinet.

The board also allows you to assign the Z axis to a pin (instead of the accelerometer - at least, I think that it does, anyway), so you can grab a potentiometer from your favorite electronics store, fire 5 volts through it to the U-HID board, and connect that potentiometer to your plunger via an arm (like Rawd did in his test video), and you have an analog plunger, too. I will be messing with that idea to see how well it works. If it does work as planned, then this would be easier to set up than trying to get one of the analog sticks on a gamepad relocated near the plunger (or sticking the whole gamepad near the plunger).

I imagine it'll be a few days getting here, so I'll continue to screw around with the gamepad in the meantime, as time permits.
