Judging on post #183 it could take a few weeks perhaps months ?

This one excites the community because it looks like "the next step", especially in the realism of the graphics. I'm also curious about the gameplay and hope it's up to par with the visuals. Then it will be hard to top I guess. It's great to see a relatively new face contributing to VP and create this amount of buzz!

Did you know that "playing pinball" is called "flipperen" in Dutch? Now you know and may your life be enriched by this arcane knowledge....

Judging from the smoothness in the videos, I'd say it's going to play pretty well for those with a reasonably recent machine.

Ahah it's funny because I'm always afraid to bother the people with this thread, because it's been so long that I started this project that it seems it will never end... But it will wink.gif

I'm working on the top left area:
- 3 new flashers around the skull
- Skull eyes
- Skull target
- The left Bumper
- 3 last playfield lights
- 3 triggers

- Then I will try to optimize the script

The renders are almost done (98%), the cleaning and slicing preparation is on its way (70%), the implementation in VP is starting (30%)
I don't know what people are generally excpeting to see in a WIP thread, I have very technical things to show, but maybe it will be more interesting to show all this stuff once the table is done, because it takes time to prepare those things before showing them... Right now I prefer working directly on the table, then show what is working in VP.
I should have new interesting material to show in about 3 weeks.

This update and the next one are the last graphic updates, once they will be done everything should go really faster smile.gif

Update!

The first post has been updated with a new Print-screen...
I'm done with the top left part of the table (3 new Flashers, the left bumpers, the 3 last playfield lights missing, some new triggers, the skull eyes, the skull target...)

Here is an animated PNG, with 2 images, showing this area (visible with Firefox):

If the animation doesn't work on your web browser, you can check these 2 images separately here:

Here the animation progress:

The next update will be an important step for me, because it will be the last graphic update! Then I will work on the audio part and adjust the gameplay once again with the Beta-Testers.

You are the MAN! That skull looks amazing. You've obviously put a lot of work into the table lately - we all appreciate it! Great work!

There are not enough good adjectives to describe how great this table will be when it is released.

This just looks amazing. As this is one of my favorite machines I remember playing back in the day, I'm highly anticipating. I am curious as to what size GFX card you and the beta testers are using? 1GB? 2GB? I have a feeling this will bring many systems to their knees, and using UVP on it might be bad. Anyone happen to be working on a B2S? biggrin.gif

I have a 2GB video card and if I remember, the beta-testers have a 1GB card, but honestly, I don't think that is the most important point. The table doesn't use textures bigger than 1000 pixels (everything is sliced) and I didn't notice that it was an important criteria. It seems that the couple GPU/CPU is more important.

In the latest beta, I optimized the script to improved the fps during the heavy lights sequences, I'm waiting for the feedback from the testers, but it seems that the table still stutters a little bit when the entire table is flashing + big DMD animation (less than before), but it doesn't really bother the gameplay and it's just 3 or 4 seconds, then the table plays smooth.
But of course, if you have a too old computer, I guess you will have some stuttering. Maybe it could be interesting to do some tests with small specs before releasing the table in order to see where is the limit and what I can do to allow those computers to play the table anyway. I won't do it now, but probably in a few weeks smile.gif

I didn't try the UVP yet (I never used it actually), so I don't know how negatively the fps will be affected by that... Some tests will be necessary as well.

Oh come on!!!! You are trying to fool us!! You have take pictures from the real machine smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

This is unbelievable looking....I guess even the real machine never looked that good!!

Hey Destruk, what about modifying the VP Editor, so creating Tables in that quality would be possible smile.gif

I really looking forward to this table! I already played the Beta, and it was great!

100 Thumbs up!!

My current VPX Tables I am working on:

Attack from Mars/Finished - The Walking Dead Pro/90% - The Lord of the Rings/75% - Family Guy/90% - The Simpsons Pinball Party/15%

I'll be happy to test on my mediocre system. SPECS LINK
So far I am able to run every table smoothly with max settings after some tweaking except Monopoly.
If my system can run it, everybody's system should.

I don't think your system is mediocre actually! My specs are pretty similar, just a bit better, but I have 2 monitors connected to my graphic card (both in 1920 X 1080):

Here are my specs:
Win XP sp3
You have a E6600 2.4ghz, I have a Q6600 2.4ghz --> OC at 3.2ghz (but the quad is useless with VP)
You have a GTS450, I have a GTX 460
You have 2GB DDR2 800 and I have 4 GB DDR2 800 (but XP 32bit can handle only 3.25 GB)

I think the table will play smooth on your CAB wink.gif
