Toxie & Fuzzel,
 
I have two crashed to report, which are reproducible. Both when VPX goes into the start mode to play a table.
 
a) Is "windowed fullscreen" - table "Ripley - Believe it, or not" > long loading time, than crash before rom emulation starts (only this tables, all others run fine)
 
b) "forced fullscreen" - happens with all tables > load loading time, than crash
 
My setup: I5, 8 gigs RAM, GTX 970 with latest driver, Win 10 64 bit (all updates), ******* (latest drivers), all with the latest VPX 10.4 beta

There is currently (still) a problem in PinMAME with Whitestar II tables and the JIT speedup code..  :/

One can workaround it by searching for AT91jit in the registry and one will find this one for each machine.
Setting it to 0 will disable JIT, and (should) fix your issue..

 

 

Thank you for your help! Silly me! After change from win7 to win10, I missed to set ddraw in the registry to 0. Now everything is running fine! The AT91jit works both at 0 or 1 ... so I will leave it at 1.

It was not related to VPinball!

oooohhhh..... I have something i've been seeing happening lately 
 

when setting the inclination to "0" in the POV on tables with kicker holes.... the kicker disappears... and only if you change it to "1" or "2" does it show....

 

why set the inclination to "0" I found on EM's and early SS single level tables..... IMO look best at zero... I also noticed JP is also doing this....

examples:

Black Sheep Squadron
and a few others...

 

i worked around this a bit.. please let me know if it still occurs on some tables with the next build..

Would be nifty if we could export and import those new sound settings to a file just like with the backdrop POV. 

 

I've already spoken to Rob about this and while possible, he reckons "it would be a ***** to code".   ;)

If your wondering how to reproduce the issue with the camera view not scrolling through the inclination, x scale, y scale, etc values when hitting LCtrl or RCtrl, copy the mappings as shown here:

this came up in conversation in the past couple days.... what seems to always come up all the time and that is "the ball is to dark"

so I guess this will again got back to ”graduated disable lighting” question again.... if this could be applied to the ball, I believe will should never hear the question "how can I brighten my balls" and the jokes that follow

Hi,

 

I am currently running this as a sub folder under my main folder, but it is causing some issues with 3rd party software.

 

Can anyone confirm if my 10.3 exe will still work if I replace it's scripts and dll files with those included with the beta?

This thread is for reporting issues with the new beta and yes you can replace the scripts and dll files from the beta.

It is possible that VPX register hit/unhit of the trigger and VPM not? Maybe by FPS drop?

 

And i got an idea for emulation of Optical Switches, maybe it's good to make non-collidable wall act as optical switch? Right now if you set wall to non collidable you can't register hits with script anymore. What you think?

Use a trigger for that. You can shape a trigger just like you can do with a wall, even the height.

I'd like to see revision of layers menu, more layers, 'add layers?' Name layers?.  At the very least at least have a dialogue that asks "are you sure you want to merge all layers?" before actually merging them, I've hit this before unintentionally a number of times without realising since it's right next to toggle all.

Make search element auto activated so after you do a cntl+shift+e you can start typing without having to move the mouse and click to activate.

Please disregard this - I found that my screenres file somehow got set to all zeros. I copied the one from my VP9 folder and its back.

I don't know if it happened when I copied all the VPX files over or what.

This was not only a bug in the search element dialog but also in the Sound, Image, Collection Manager dialog and is now fixed ;)

Hmm that is a bit complicated as the layers are just numbers/indices that mark an element to be only visible if a the layer is also active. That alone isn't a big problem but the button bar on the left is a problem. Afaik there is no way to add a list view to a button bar and a list view would be the best control to support a variable amount of layers (with custom names). My initial plan was to use a dockable editor pane so you can dock a button bar and/or the properties pane like every editor supports that. But the whole editor UI is really a mess and especially the properties pane is full of new and old hacks that makes it quite hard to support docking.

So to keep it short: If I find some time I will try it again but that is not a "low hanging fruit" ;)
