Hi JP.

As always, thank you for your time spent for these high-end tables that you are publishing here.

I have an inexplicable behavior with this table (maybe it's something about my cabinet, but I ask because maybe I missed something and someone out of here could have the solution).

When the ball passes in front of the slingshots (also without touching them) it stutters a lot. I tried passing the ball manually with the debugger and not only the ball stutters, but also all the flashing lights have animation locks.

Since it's easy to replicate and I wonder no one other has noted it, so it could be something I don't know in some settings.

I have a NVIDIA GTX 1060 Graphic card which I vertically synchronized using my prime number method and for that I disabled the Vsync to check if it was the culprit.
But no, even leaving the graphic card to stream the frames free, when the ball is moved elsewhere I got 198/205 FPS, but when the ball is moved in front of the slingshots the frame rate falls to 70/90 FPS and sometimes it falls even to 45 FPS.

Any idea?

Everywhere a ball rolls, there's fun!

I guess the dragons have too many polygons. So simply select both dragons, that sit on top of the slingshots, and select "Static Rendering". Now those dragons won't move anymore, but you will not experience more stutter at that place :)

Maybe someone with more knowledge than me about 3D objects could reduce the amount of polygons, while keeping the shape intact :) I guess those dragons don't need so many polygons since they are quite small on top of the slingshots :)

UPDATE

4.0.2 Updated 26.09.2022
- New dragon mesh by Thalamus. This will remove some ball stutter at the slingshots, due to too many polygons of the old dragons.

This will remove the ball stutter at the slingshots :) Thanks again Thalamus for the new dragon's mesh :)

Not sure, i just kept my high poly dragons, have not noticed any stutter from them
if JP changes table names, i might grab it and copy/paste the Dragons into my existing table (cause mine is slightly different, cause i like the drive in theater and a few other things)

I dont think they will make a difference for me, asshole has no issues very smoothly and stutter free, lobbing the ball right past the dragons towards the drain

Hahaha, I deleted the UltraDMD folder instead of the old table! :D I guess I need to awake a little more before I do some uploading :D My eyes are not what they use to be in the morning, they are kind of blurry when I wake up, I'll fix that in a second :)

Ok, uploaded back the UltraDMD folder and the 4.0.2 version :D

Hi JP and all,

now I'm at office, I'll try version 4.0.2 this night.

I honestly already tried to make the dragon invisible yesterday, and I saw nothing changed indeed.

But I don't really know if hiding the dragon worked for this purpose at all.

The stuttering was evident even with the dragons steady, the ball was passing in front of the slingshot without exciting them.

Anyways thank you for taking care of the issue and thanks to Thalamus for the new dragons.

I'll inform you this night.

In the meantime have a great day.

Massimo

Thank you JP and Thalamus,

your are great!

I believed that making the dragons invisible fixed the issue, but it was not the case indeed.

Everything is smooth now.

Great table JP... As always in your case :)

Dear forum,

I recently updated JP's and ScottyWic's Diablo Pinball from 1.0.3 to 4.0.2.
Unfortunately, I have problems with the scoring after upgrade. Points are not added correctly after the ball is lost and points for skill shots are not added at all. I tried various setups - on my cabinet with the latest stable versions of VP and DMDExt as well as a vanilla install on a desktop (blood machines installer). Both setups produce the described problems if using v4.0.2 but not for v1.0.3.

Does anyone know how to fix the problem?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

I'll take a look at the code. Thanks for telling about it.

Well, everything seems to be working fine on my computer, the skillshot works, and the bonus count is also working.

The only thing I can think of is that you have an old script in the tables folder., and if it is so then just delete it.

Dear JP,

Many thanks for your reply, your help and all you have done for this community!
I believe I found the issue. In contrast to my initial suspicion, points for bonuses and skill shots are added to the score. However it seems in v.4.0.2 this is only done for a 10th of the total bonus. I did a diff on the scripts of both versions and found the following change in the AddScore function (line 1472):

Sub AddScore(points)
    If(Tilted = False)Then
        Points = Points \ 10
' add the points to the current players score variable
        Score(CurrentPlayer) = Score(CurrentPlayer) + points * SecondRound
        ' update the score displays
        DMDScore
    End if

)

I did a quick field test and removing this line seems to solve the problem. However, I am not sure if other parts of the scoring are negatively affected.

It would be great if you could confirm my assumption or tell me if I am barking up the wrong tree.

Again, your help is highly appreciated!

I remember that fix now. It was to fix a problem with UltraDMD which crashed if the scores were too high. So I simply reduced the size of the points by 10, so it wouldn't get an overflow error and crash :) This doesn't mean the scoring is not working, it is simple reduced by 10 :) So, yes, you can remove that line now that we are using FlexDMD, but if I remember right UltraDMD got that error fixed too :)
