If this helps:

For jollies, I went through the description tags in my databases and modified to identically match the titles used by IPDB so that they would look correct in PinballX attract mode

For example,

<game name="Bride Of Pin-Bot">

The Machine: Bride of Pin·bot (Williams 1991)

<game name="Harley-Davidson">

Harley-Davidson® (Stern 1999)

<game name="Red & Ted's Roadshow">

Red & Ted's Road Show (Williams 1994)

<game name="Spider-Man_VPX_1.1">

Spider-Man™ (Stern 2007)

OK then, Bob's Burgers has a non printable character between the "s" and "B" - who knew! This really screws with things when you try and do a match to the GAME_COLOUR= name later on. Not sure why they've done this, or if its even intentional, either way we'll deal with it.

What I've done is filter out any characters not in the ASCII 32 - 127 range inclusive. So now "Bob's Burgers Pinball" will come out as "Bob'sBurgers Pinball" with no space, of course it actually wasn't a space anyway it just looked like one! I've done this rather than try and substitute a real space in, because in other game names we'd end up with double spaces and other strange stuff.

Vizzini - PM'ing you now with a link to V2.05 that will sort this out. I can't fully test it in V2.05 as I'm knee deep in V3 beta. I've tested it in V3 beta and moved the 5 lines of code back into V2. I don't envisage any issues, but if you wouldn't mind confirming that.

I've also found guys, that with Pinball X, I've moved ALL my systems (except for FP) from the internal support, to a "custom" other system. This gets around any automated key presses that Pinball X does for menu navigation, etc... It also gets around other issues I was having (like getting dmdext to work). The only system that is not like this is Future Pinball. Never had any issues with FP from the beginning.

I haven't gone back to auto game detecting for PFX2, but the GAME_NAME works fine with a custom PFX2 setup since I don't have any special characters in my table's game name in Game Manager.

V2.05 fix is working perfect! The log is reporting the adjusted game names and the GAME_COLOUR= codes are getting picked up. Super work.

:yahoo: Vizzini'Custom FXColors:yahoo:

Come one, come all!!!

See the spectacle of your RGBs dancing in perfect color harmony with your FX2 tables utilizing :love39: DDH69's awesome DOFFX2 miracle!! All credit goes to DDH69! Ok, come to think of it, Swisslizard too!

I am happy to present a complete set of custom colors for Pinball FX2 (up to and including the Alien's pack release).

Some notes:

I started off trying to get a large string of colors per table. But, more color variants resulted in color tones that just looked bad with the colors of the tables. Also, some colors come out bright on the LEDs. I mean staring at the sun bright. Some come out dim. The more colors I used, I noticed that I was introducing way too much variation between bright and dim lights. It really hurt my eyes as I played!

Also, going through this exercise, I really noticed that some colors flicker like crazy on my LEDs. (I think I recall that was a limitation of the LEDwiz. PACled64 doesn't suffer as bad, I think.) I really didn't notice it before because with regular DOF, the LEDs are flashing so quickly you just can't tell. With DOFFX2, the LEDs stay lit...and you really can notice the flicker when they are on constant. As a side note, I really like having them on all the time with FX2. It really adds to the game. So, don't think about changing that DDH69.

Ultimately, I ended up with 4 rules as I made the list:

1. Keep the colors limited.

2. Only use colors that match the colors of the table or augment it nicely.

3. Try to keep variability between bright and dim to a minimum

4. Try to eliminate colors that are a flicker fest.

I think I got it just right...for my setup at least. Let me explain. I'm using cheap Chinese LEDs. So, I'm not sure if these colors will look right on all setups. For example, on my cab's RGB panel, the color Yellow_Green gives a nice soft yellow color. No green. But, when I look at the LEDs -different LEDs- on my flippers (also coded in the RGB_OUPUT string) I do see a little more green tone.

So, if you notice a color is off just a bit, I suggest you reference the directoutputconfig file and substitute a color adjacent in the list to the one giving you trouble. For example, if Yellow_Green is just a little too green, go back a few and try Khaki, Dark_Khaki, or Pale_Golden_Rod for just one table. If it looks good for that table -less green- and the intended soft yellow color, then do a find and replace for all instance of Yellow_Green because it will likely be off for all tables. Because, again, I used Yellow_Green to match the soft shade of yellow on the tables. I hope that makes sense.

Also, I paid careful attention to set up contrasting colors in the lists. For example:

GAME_COLOUR=Thor,Dark_Red,Blue,Gold,Dark_Violet,Orange,Dodger_Blue,Lime

Notice a RBG, P, RBGish pattern? Not all tables have the RBG colors, but most have a contrasting pattern embedded. Why? Using the RGB_STYLE=RAINBOW setting, this methodology gives a nice alternating color balance to the light show. You won't get an ugly yellow, light yellow, beige, blue, for example. And, DDH69, if you can implement my R G R G R idea, the contrast between colors using my list will always give a nice balance of alternating colors in the odd and even positions. Fingers crossed! :D

One last thing. It was nearly impossible for me to get silver, gray, earth tone, flesh tone, spectrum of colors. They all come out looking light pink...which was ugly. I did the best I could do for tables that needed this. Star Wars Pinball: Han Solo is an example. Very hard to get it perfect.

Blah, blah, blah. Just give me my colors already!

Copy and paste to your DOFFX2.ini file.

VERY NICE!

I will have to give this a go when I first get a chance! Since I'm using a custom system for PFX2 in PBX, I will be able to see if I can get these to work for PFX2 without having to resort to using my game name in PBX Game Manager.

Again...thanks for the hard work!

If I understand your setup, it should work if are using .DOFFX2 files, no?

Then again, I'm not too clear on the multiple system side of DOFFX2, just yet. I haven't been able to get any custom colors to work with FP, yet.

No, i use SUP files for each system.

DOFFX2-FP.ini, DOFFX2-PFX2.ini, DOFFX2-TPA.ini, etc...

For Future Pinball, you will want to have your GAME_COLOUR in your DOFFX2.ini file. Also you will need to have the name be "exactly" the same as in the PBX Game Manager.

So for me my Future Pinball Tron Legacy table looks like:

Tron Legacy (Ultimate Edition).fpt

in the PBX Game Manager in GAME NAME. (Yours may not have the *.fpt at the end) So that means it must look like:

GAME_COLOUR=Tron Legacy (Ultimate Edition).fpt,Blue,Yellow,Cyan,Orange

The .fpt must be included in this case for it to work.

Hmm. Thanks.

I think I have it that way. My test case is Jaws.

PinballX Game Manager Name-> Jaws ULTIMATE 1.05

DOFFX2 -> GAME_COLOUR=Jaws ULTIMATE 1.05,Blue,Dark_Red,Gold

I tried this too: GAME_COLOUR=Jaws ULTIMATE 1.05.fpt,Blue,Dark_Red,Gold

I have PROCESSES=Pinball FX2,Future Pinball

DOFFX2 recognizes FP and the LEDs come on. But, not my color scheme.

The log seems to confirms this.

04-Sep-16 22:11:29 - Reading DOFFX2.INI startup config file details
04-Sep-16 22:11:29 - Reading DOF config file
04-Sep-16 22:11:38 - FX2 game name = ''

It is not passing the game name. I tried to go the launch before route. Got confused.

Just tried to add the .fpt in the PinballX game manager. Didn't work.

I need to read the documentation again! :)

Thanks Vizzini .... installing now :dblthumb:

TerryRed, your plan for FP tables is most sound. For the GAME_COLOUR's that Vizzini has done for FX2 you could just set your "GAME_NAME=" (to nothing) when starting FX2 and DOFFX2 will pick up the FX2 name automatically while your logic for FP still works for those tables. Your choice of course - just an easy way to use Vizzini's work.

I was literally just testing this for PFX2....and yes it does work! Very nicely! Well done all!

Vizzini, you just need to change one line in your list or it will give in invalid colour error for this line:

GAME_COLOUR=Earth Defense,Dark_Red,Blue,Gold,Dark_Violet,Orange,Dodger_Blue,Lime,

because you have a "," at the end. Just remove the "," and its all good!

I need to read the documentation again! :)

I have DOFFX2 always running when PBX loads.

For my Launch Before with Future Pinball, I use the DOFFX2Msg.exe as the executable.

for Parameters I use:

SUP_INI="DOFFX2Configs\DOFFX2-FP"#GAME_NAME="[TABLEFILE]"

This tells the DOFFX2Msg.exe to load the DOFFX2-FP.ini SUP file (with my own FP settings for DOFFX2) in the DOFFX2Configs folder (my personal configs folder I made in the DirectOutput directory). It also assigns the current GAME_NAME (as well as GAME_COLOUR) to whatever table your are loading. The # allows for multiple parameters to be used in one line.

So if I loaded Jaws ULTIMATE 1.05 in PBX (with no .fpt extension shown in Game List Manager), then:

-the DOFFX2Msg.exe will tell DOFFX2 to use the DOFFX2-FP.ini (SUP) for DOFFX2's current configuration (whatever settings are in this SUP file will OVERRIDE those in your DOFFX2.ini, except GAME_COLOUR)
-it will assign "Jaws ULTIMATE 1.05" as the GAME_NAME, and the GAME_COLOUR=Jaws ULTIMATE 1.05
-it will look for GAME_COLOUR=Jaws ULTIMATE 1.05,Blue,Dark_Red,Gold in your DOFFX2.ini file (it MUST be there, not in your SUP file!)

That's what I do for all of my different systems.

The only difference is PFX2, since it auto detects the game window for each table, you leave the GAME_NAME blank:

SUP_INI="DOFFX2Configs\DOFFX2-PFX2"#GAME_NAME=

Hope that helps.

Took the comma out in the above post. Strange. I didn't notice any error.

I'll try your settings TerryRed.

I'm curious if the colors look right for you guys, Any issue with the Yellow_Green looking too green?

TerryRed is using V3 Beta so slightly different behaviour.

I've only had a really quick look, but they all came up for me. I haven't examined the presentation of the colour as at present I only have undercab RGB strips. Just ordered 40 x 3W RGB's and associated stuff .... fun to come in a few weeks time.

Great work DDH69 :otvclap: !

Do you see any chance to support PacLed64 boards in a future version (API is available at Ultimarc) ?

About a week ago I didn't see SainSmart support, but thanks to doogie2301's testing, its done. So I'm quite happy to add PacLed64 via DOF (not directly as this tool works with the excellent DOF). All I need is a willing volunteer to put up with some pain and test (as I don't have a PacLed64 to work on myself). This may take anything from 1 to 87 test iterations, so prompt turn-around and patience is a must .... are you a volunteer? I've looked at the DOF R3 PacLed64 and it seems quite straight forward, but then they are famous last words until reality is discovered!

Volunteer found, I will do my very best :dblthumb:
Currently DOF R3 works great with my two PacLed64 devices.

My current cabinet (V2) is not finished yet, but I will speed things up now !
hey can you advise on how you have connected programmable leds to your pacLed i'm hoping I can use my ultimateIO board?

Sorry to disappoint You, but you will never be able to connect programmable LEDs (WS281x) to PacLed or UltimateIO devices, only Standard LEDs (Mono or RGB). You need much more than this like an Arduino or Teensy and an Adapterboard.

And you won't either be able to use UltimateIO for DOFFX2 because it is based on DOF, and DOF does not support UltimateIO yet.

Well, I fear, that there is no such universal board on the market!
In my cab I currently have four controllers, one UltimateIO (for button-key translations), two PacLed64 (for DOF) and one Arduino Leonardo for the analog Plunger and Nudging, and I have not even programmable LEDs yet, otherwise I would have one more board...

Not to mention my Mosfet boards for all the Toys and HighPower LEDs...
