I only picked the sony's as they were fairly cheap at $669 each, I'll look around a bit then thankS mate

Cheap is good. If they're cheaper than a non-3D display, then you can't loose - you just ignore the 3D features. LED displays do product less heat and look nicer, but I'm not finding any real issues with heat with the normal LCD. I'm probably missing the contrast that an LED display offers, since it can control backlighting on a localized basis, rather than only being able to adjust the entire display's lighting. I wouldn't spend crazy money to move to LED, though, unless you really want the best and are willing to pay the premium - but that's just me.

The screens we have seem fine, I have been running without fans, but I hve no coin door yet and the back is open.
But 6 fans I,m puttin in should be ok.

Yeah, I have 4 x 140mm fans in mine - two in the back of the main cabinet body, and 2 in the backbox door. I also have clean air intakes in the front (4 holes with mesh over them under the front lip).

I got 4 x 20mm's running as well .. 2 bottom, one back + 1 backbox back.

Funny to read about yr Philips TV(s) Darkfall .. I got one as PF as well and I could not get the darn thing 'unbezelled'!
Took me 2,5 days and didn't succeed in the end .. Totally stressed out .. I took a chainsaw and simply cut the sites off .. still working fine, Philips => very good quality! wink.gif

Cheers,
FD.

A chainsaw? Wow - that's really taking matters into your own hands! The model I had wasn't too bad to take apart - no chainsaw needed *grin*.

Hey guys,

Got my glass today. Put everything on - side rails and all. It was a little bit of an operation to get the glass into the backbox, but it went (I had to half take it apart to slide it in from above).

Looks a whole lot more like a pinball machine now! My graphics guy came and measured everything, and says he'll get my art printed this week so that we can install it on the weekend. Woo!

Here's some photos with different tables that use the backglass in different ways...

Cirqus Voltaire (no DMD or LED)

KISS (LED)

Diamond Lady (Funky LED at the top)

Creature From The Black Lagoon (Normal DMD with speaker grill)

Yes - I mentioned my graphics guy came to measure everything tonight. He'll have stuff by the end of the week, he says, so we can install it all on the weekend. I told him no rush, but if that works out, cool. He says it's about 4 hours to install all the graphics properly - probably take me longer. He's been doing it for many years, and will do a clean and careful job. biggrin.gif

Looks great Paul dblthumb.gif ..... the glass makes a huge difference. Bet your stoked to have it all done.

Looks as if you left the BG stretched?? I modified mine to square it up more.

Thanks, DR.

Yeah, it is a little taller than it is wide. I kept the dimensions of the original Williams widebody on the backbox, which was designed to have a speaker grill in it. It does stretch the non-grill backglasses a little bit, but I don't mind. I play mostly the newer DMD style games anyway, so it's "right" for most of the games I like. It looks more correct on Creature From The Black Lagoon, for example.

Ordered a couple of new parts last night for the shaker motor:

Pittman 9414H255-R2 dual shaft motor - $16.00 plus $10.00 to ship from Ontario.
L298 Dual H-Bridge Motor Driver - $23.50 plus $3.20 to ship from China (China!!!)

I'm pretty sure the dual H-bridge will do the job for intensity on the shaker motor via LEDWiz. I'll know for sure once I try it. It's going to take time to get here, though. It says 10-30 days to arrive. LOL. China!

I'll need to fashion some little weights for the motor to throw it off balance, and make a cover in case it explodes and throws parts everywhere. It sure beats the $200-$300 I've seen for shaker motor kits (and the additional $100 for the dual H-bridge), if it works.

I also played around some more with the Logitech F310 gamepad for nudging and stuff. I installed Logitech's software, so I could set up a profile. I was able to invert the Y axis on the stick I'll use for nudging, and swap the x and y axies on the other stick so the it'll move in the right direction for the plunger, should I decide to install one. I took it all apart, too (out of it's case, pulled off the rubber button bits, etc). I think I'll order a plunger and fiddle around with that part of it while I'm figuring out how I want to attach weight for the nudge stick. biggrin.gif

You will love that motor, same one I run in the shaker kits I put together, works great. for clamping it down you just need a couple of conduit clamps from your local home improvement store smile.gif.

Yeah, it looks good. Did you end up making your own weights for the shafts, or did you find some somewhere that you used? That was the only part I wasn't sure of.
