I thought the FP version of this has custom sounds and not from a rom.

Rob, maybe you could post how to fix the THING problem on this version.

That way it can be fixed by those that dont know how.

I'm sure he is talking about the ROM sound quality.

The Addams Family sound has always been horrible and scratchy.

Some people don't seem to mind it very much, but I cringe every time.

The Future Pinball sound version is awesome, of course I realize it is not using the actual ROM's.

I hope you find a way to release an update to everybody.

Actually, compared to some other sound boards, I think this is one isn't too bad.  Also try adjusting sample rate, & make sure you don't have the rom volume up too loud since it can start to crackle.  Maybe I'll toy with the ROM volume configs to see if that can improve anything.

Wait, so the FP version sounds better?  This leads me to ask, where did they get their sound from?  ROM sounds are usually ripped using PInMame, right?  If so, the quality should be about the same.  Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of that.

Can't speak specifically for Addams Family but in lieu of getting the sound quips from the rom, many FP table authors simply get them from the DVD or sound bites saved on internet sites.  I don't know how many PINBALL only related sounds there are in Addams family, but most quips I remember were in the movie.

Yep, i was talking about the ROM sounds, distorted, awful quality. Tried playing with volume levels and samplerate to

no avail. The FP version has excerpts from the movie and isn't like the original at all (and the FP version plays WAY

different than the VP version).

Anyways, looking forward to play your version as indeed this is a popular table !

Now if we just could get Melon's whereabouts........  :search:

I already posted the fix in another thread just a couple weeks back.  It was just enabling or adding 1 line of code.  Off the top of my head I don't remember what line but its in that thread.

As for sound, I don't know if I'm doing anything different, but I don't think the ROM sounds are awful.  Also, you have to keep in mind that the sound quality of the actual game wasn't that great either.  Addams didn't even have DCS quality sound which came about a year later.

Although this is not rob's post, I think this post could contain the fix you need:
