Can DOFlinx be used with the fairly new release of Pinball FX (not 2 or 3 but the new one).   thanks

Slydog, not yet.  I was waiting for the Steam version before tackling it.  I must look at the current release schedule for that.

DDH69,  I don't want to be that guy, but I'll be that guy  :pokey:   Any word on PinballFX support since it is now released on Steam?

Thanks,

Boroka

That OK  :friends: I plan to have a look shortly (I started a bit of reading last night).  I'm in the middle of large renovations at present including my workshop.  Have 2 weeks off work to build stuff and almost at the end of a series of 10 hour days ....... it's a nice workshop though  :dblthumb: .  Will likely start a thread on this shortly.

A question about using Doflinx for FX3. Using DOF with VPX is clear and working. But if you only want to play FX3 and no VPX or FP what would be the easies/simplest way of installing? I understand I first need a working version of DOF.  My question: Is it possible to install DOF and DOFLINX without VPX or FP?  If I want to use force feedback and only play FX3 how to  install DOF/DOFLINX?

Thanks!

Yes you can have DOF and DOFLinx without VPX or FP.

  1. Install DOF as per standard instructions
  2. Do your DOF config for your output device and toys via the web tool, download, etc
  3. Add DOFLinx
  4. Add Steam FX3
  5. Done

If you are using animated backglasses then you will need to install the B2SServer.  Again follow the normal installation for this, you can install this in any folder.  The default instructions have VP as the folder, its fine there or any other folder you like.

Hi

I've read all this posts (not intensive but read it anyway) and can't find what I'm looking for. I've read that is possible to control nudge on FX3 using DOF, so, that's what I want to do, but most of the post are centered on flashers, soleniods, leds and other things that I don't use. I have B2S working.

The reason why I wanna do this is that I use my KL25Z on keyboard mode, so x360ce don't works on that mode. I use key mode because PinCabView2D that can't make it works on joystick mode. So, if someone could help me to make works this, I'll be very gratefull

Sorry my english, I'm from Argentina and I'm not using translator this time.

Title: VirtuaTilt + DOFLinx – Nudge not working in Pinball FX / Need a clean DOFLinx.ini

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for help with my VirtuaTilt / Pinscape Pico / DOFLinx setup, because I have been trying to solve an issue with the nudge in Pinball FX for several days now, without success.

My hardware setup includes:

  • VirtuaTilt
  • Pinscape Pico
  • MMA8451Q accelerometer
  • Analog plunger
  • DOFLinx
  • Pinball FX / FX3 / Future Pinball / Pinball M
Current situation

I have managed to get almost everything working correctly.

With Future Pinball + DOFLinx, everything works perfectly:

  • Flippers ✅
  • Solenoids ✅
  • Bumpers ✅
  • Slingshots ✅
  • Knocker ✅
  • Analog plunger ✅
  • Nudge / accelerometer ✅

The problem is specifically with Pinball FX.

In Pinball FX, I can get:

  • Flippers ✅
  • Solenoids ✅
  • Bumpers / slingshots ✅
  • Knocker ✅
  • Analog plunger ✅
  • Nudge ❌

The accelerometer is detected correctly by the VirtuaTilt/Pinscape Pico and works perfectly in Future Pinball, but Pinball FX does not react to the nudge at all.

I have tried the Steam Input settings in both configurations, including the recommended setting:

Enable Steam Input for generic controllers = ON

with the other Steam Input options disabled.

I also tried the opposite configuration, but there was no difference.

I have also tested the different configurations and scripts that were recommended to me, but I still cannot get the nudge working in Pinball FX.

Zen Studios support

I contacted Zen Studios support about this issue and sent them my config.json, including the MMA8451Q configuration.

They told me that they have only recently added DOFLinx support and that they are still working with the DOFLinx developer to improve it.

They therefore redirected me to the VPForums step-by-step setup guide and suggested that I ask the DOFLinx community for help.

The seller who provided my VirtuaTilt setup also told me to contact you directly because he does not have a solution for this problem either.

My DOFLinx files

I have uploaded all the relevant files here:

Google Drive – DOFLinx / VirtuaTilt files

In the folder you will find two versions of the DOFLinx configuration:

  • DOFLinx — this is the DOFLinx.ini that I created/modified myself.
  • DOFLinx 1 — this is the DOFLinx.ini that was provided/created by the VirtuaTilt manufacturer.

Unfortunately, even the manufacturer's DOFLinx.ini does not work correctly on my system.

What I would really need

At this point, I am completely lost and I would really appreciate some help from someone who knows DOFLinx and VirtuaTilt well.

Would it be possible for someone to take a look at my files and, if necessary, create a clean and correct DOFLinx.ini specifically for my hardware and configuration?

Ideally, I would like a configuration that supports:

  • Future Pinball
  • Pinball FX
  • Pinball FX3
  • Pinball M

and that is correctly configured to work with my VirtuaTilt / Pinscape Pico JSON configuration, including the MMA8451Q accelerometer and analog plunger.

If possible, it would be fantastic if someone could simply upload a ready-to-use .ini file to my Google Drive, so I can copy it directly, test it on my machine, and report back with the results.

I am happy to test everything you recommend and provide the logs/results.

Thank you very much for your help. I'm honestly a bit lost at this point, as Zen Studios, the VirtuaTilt seller and myself have all reached the same point without finding a solution. If someone can help me get a clean working configuration, I would really appreciate it!

Thank you! 🙏

Ruddy

Hi Ruddy, welcome.

This walk-through is quite old and effectively dead because the DOFLinx Guide replaced it some time ago ( https://doflinx.github.io/docs/ ).  I will give you some guidance here, but if you still need more help then startup a thread for your issue in the DOFLinx forum and we'll help.

So, I am the author and ongoing developer of DOFLinx.  I had not heard of Virtua Tilt until your post and my subsequent Google of it.  Like a lot of hardware if the manufacturer of Virtua Tilt wishes to contact me and provide some hardware I will gladly make all that is possible work.  Having said that, being based on a Pinscape Pico I am sure this will work as I have done it myself.  I can't provide or help with exact settings as these will be specific to the hardware configuration, hence my comment about setting up a configuration if hardware is provided.

So some guidance for you.

- It has nothing to do with Zen, and no they don't support third party systems or hardware.

- This thread will give you some guidance https://www.vpforums...showtopic=42325

- Your first step doesn't involve DOFLinx.  Use joy.cpl in Windows and see if you can detect X / Y joystick movement when you nudge.  If you can keep going, if you can't, then you've got a Windows or Pinscape Pico configuration issue)

- Once you can see Windows joystick movement from nudge, then the thread above is your next starting point.

- Conceptually what happens is DOFLinx monitors the X / Y nudge (Windows joystick movement) , and when you go over your set threshold DOFLinx sends the nudge keyboard stroke to Pinball FX emulators.

I hope this helps.  As I said if you need more help then start a specific thread and we'll work through it,
