Then you won't be happy with pindmdv3...I think I want one - I have a Red & Ted that needs a new DMD and this looks just the job. Be paying for quality there.

It will be staying like this. I will not help that project in any way. Its already using enough of my code.
Think what your actually asking me to do here. Your asking me to work with some one who originally ripped off my work. I dont work with people like that sorry.
I was thinking about the editor last night and i have a pretty good idea how to create it. So its crazy easy to use / start colouring recorded frame sessions from pinMame. People will be able to pick this up in seconds and select frames / pallets quicky and intuitively. Project data will be encrypted so will the final frame hash data that will be used by the pinDMD.dll to pick up the frame colour data.
I don't think they are using any line of your code. Yes there was a first proof of concept that was just using your firmware and the same wiring, but today its a completely new project written from scratch.
When you are saying "pin2dmd is using enough of my code" then say exactly which lines of code you're referring to. And proof that its a copy of your code. Unless you aren't able to do so, it's simply baseless allegation.

When ever its connected to pinDMD2 integrated software its running my code!
When its running pinMame frames thats running my code.
When its using future pinball thats mine and macros code.
When its using xdmd thats mine and xdmds code.
List goes on...
I had a quick look at the github repos and from what I can see (and its changed a bit since) but it looks like the project was based on this project.
https://github.com/F.../LEDMatrixHUB75
(same file names, same pinout, similar use of dma and timers etc...
yet all /Frans-Willem copy right banners have been removed???
So even this new pin2dmd project im pretty sure started off being LEDMatrixHUB75 and was just updated. I cant prove this and im not saying its true but im pretty sure this is what happened..... Nothing wrong with using that as a starting point thats why its on github and public. But why remove all the copyright banners? and make it out to be your own?
Current: NBA Fastbreak, Hook, Stranger Things (Pro)
Gone: Bram Stoker's Dracula, Revenge From Mars, Lethal Weapon 3, Medieval Madness (Remake), Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Earthshaker, Big Buck Hunter Pro

Just saying...
I might be wrong but the odds of both projects using the EXACT same pin-out and file names.......

When its running vpinmame its not running your code, it just uses what is sended via USB. And vpinmame itself is opensource even that code that feeds pindmd. and its easy to see what will be pushed on usb and its of course simple and straight forward, essentially just the 4 subframes that pinmame produces.
Regarding LED panel projects: there's many of these kind of projects out there even with different controller types. pin2dmd does just the same as these projects all does: feedings these china panels with lines of pixels, doing colors and brightness via pwm. nothing special either ... again just allegations from you

i don't want to get involved into all the 'political' madness, but what russdx points out is fully correct.
all the source that is in PinMAME now to steer PinDMD1/2 was generously donated by russdx to the community.
and it involves much more than 'just' sending data to some interface, it also includes for example all the 'emulation' of old alphanumeric displays on the DMD, etc.

Sorry to interrupt by asking a question directly related to this thread's original intent, but:
Russ,
Does the new release of PinMAME 2.6 support PinDMD3 or do we have to use the version that you have up for download on your page?

Hello all,
....
1. Is it forbidden to use the current pinmame dmd and output routines for other projects. I thought it is open source.
....
During research I also had a look at the hub75 project of Frans Willems and the pin2dmd code. For me it looks totally different. Only dma and pinout routines are the same but that is is hardware related .

Just received an email from pcb assembler saying pcbs have been shipped to virtuaPin, I have been told the DMD modules should be shipped today. Once they all arrive at virtuaPin half will be forwarded onto me to assemble the EU orders (EU orders will have a slight extra delay due to extra shipping time from usa to uk / customs)
Picture is x200 dmd modules about to be shipped ![]()
