Thanks for pointing out Pinball Nirvana... lots of old versions there. Hopefully I won't have to deal with this soon...

The problem I have with VP8 is that the default nudging is nonexistent. VP9's default nudging is kinda overpowered, but at least it's nudging.

edit: Oh right, these older versions barely work, totally forgot. Is there any easy way I can just tone down the crazy effects on newer tables?

hello

i have this table with the correct rom and visual pinball 9.1.5 and vpinmame 2.3

but the graphics are CHOPPY and LAGGY, especially if its multiball and a lot of lights are activating then it becomes really bad and drops to about 5 FPS etc

this is a surprise because I have a Evga GTX 780 (with DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)  which should have no problem with anything, even on all settings maxed out

i am running windows xp sp3 with CPU i7-920 @ 2.6 ghz, 6gb ram installed but win xp only sees 3gb , my resolution is set to 1650 x 1050 which is the max for my lcd

i have even tried a fresh reboot and running only VP and the problem is still there

any ideas on what the issue could be ?

It seems that you have not enabled the Hardware Device Rendering or that your video card is not very new.
Please post the VP video options,
characteristics of the video card and the screen resolution.

Yes, your card is old.
This table has HD images and probably your graphics card does not support them.
Try reducing the Max Texture Dimension to 2048 or 1024 , and restart VP.

I have an ATI Radeon HD4670 1GB AGP8X, and MM 2.3.2 goes nuts during multiball (balls blinking into and out of existence) and when the gong (bell?) sounds the end of the Trolls. Version 2.4 flashes a bunch of colored rectangles, during play, that obscure view of sections of the playfield (Hardware Device Rendering on, Alpha slider far left (off) ).

Don't know what v2.4.3 looks like, because two download attempts failed ("No files to extract").

ATI/AMD cards prior to the HD5000 series are known to have issues, and 256MB VRAM just isn't enough for newer tables.

But welcome to VPF, anyway. :dblthumb: :band: :drinks:

Crash, I had a similar issue with a different table.  Open the script and look for a line  (near the top) that says something about  "VPinMame.Controller" or something like that. Change it to  "UltraVP.BackglassServ", or what ever it is that you use for back glass.    This one change fixed all 3 errors for me.

Most tables require Visual Pinmame to be installed also.  Here is the recommended install guide

http://www.vpforums....rials&article=1

I assume you have no tables working yet, and MM is your first table to try.  Post more details if this is not true

Please look in the script and find the line (somewhere in the first few lines that begins with SET CONTROLLER .... and change that complete line to:

Set Controller = CreateObject("VPinMAME.Controller")

Also: did you download the right Romfile and place it in Vpinmame\roms ?

edit: just looked at your video. Its line 19 in your script. It is pointing to a B2S server. Just make the change and it should work
