I have done all the testing I could think of, all with the same result: nudging works on the x and y axis, but the plunger does not do anything. I have fired off an e-mail to wolfsoft asking what's best to do in order to return the unit. So far no response yet, but I am sure it will work out fine.

How did it end?

It ended well: This week I received a package from wolfsoft with a new unit. Hooked it up and all axis are working in the calibration. Wolfsoft did a great job with the service, but he/they are not very communicative. When asked though, he usually responds fairly quick.

I have yet to properly calibrate it inside the cab, but I verified that at least something happens when I enable the mechanical plunger in a table. I think I'm good now. thanks for asking!

Just ordered the Mot-Ion kit with quick shipping!  I can hardly wait for this, I am going to replace an old Atom Arcade control board. Looking forward to the new features this controller will add to my cabinet.

I have read a few posts and see some of the table will need to have the plunger object modified to work.  I am wondering if I still need a launch button for tables like STTNG or do you push the plunger in to use it as a button?

For the most part, you will still need a launch button, unless you add some custom code for each table to use the plunger instead.

hi guys this is my first post, looking for some friendly advice please, im currently building my own 2 player bartop arcade cab and have the side buttons for pinball all ready, but i really want to go the whole hog and fit the nano tech plunger kit, im using a ipac2 for the sticks and buttons, is it possible to fit this kit aswell as the ipac2 on the same cab? im using hyperspin frontend and im under the understanding that you can install hyperpin on the hyperspin menu, it says that this kit is compatable with hyperpin, would i be correct in saying that id just have to plug both the ipac2 and plunger kit into seperate usb ports and config controls via the hyperpin emulator? obviously its $140 plus shipping and import tax for me to have it shipped to the uk, looks and sounds like a cracking bit of kit! any tips or useful info would be very much appriciated, thanks all

Yeah, I'm using them together. Ipac2 and plunger kit work together without any issues.

I had the Ipac before I got the plunger kit and still prefer using it because of it's shift function.

Also, this way I had plenty of space left for my latest addition: An transparent Comptetition Pro for Baby Pacman. Used to have one of those... a long time ago. Boy, I'm getting old.

Edit: Oh, about your question. The Ipac emulates an keyboard and is fully programmable. You can build a button schematic in an editor and assign single or multiple key presses to it.

One key you can assign as shift key - best don't use a flipper button or magnasave button for this.

The nanotech kit is a game controller. You need extra software if you want it to act like a keyboard.

thankyou very much you have been very helpful, after i posted this i have seen a youtube video of someone who has used a analogue plunger from a standard table, reversed the switch the pin hits and it works a treat all for less than 30 quid aswell, and he has connected the switch direct into the ipac

But on jpsalas tables I am not able to find any plunger to select? And therefor I can not turn it on?

i wasnt joking about the plunger. most of JPs table recreations are based on newer tables which had the launch button, not a plunger.

anyways, you can click on the select button in vp and see the long, list of all the objects. just look for some name like plunger.

Does this not have a plunger? It visually looks like it? But there is not component named plunger?

And can't find it at all...

It is maybe not enough that you can see the plunger on the table? It can still not be implemented?

Also, How come that the speed if different if you pull bak fast and let go or if you pull it slowly back and let go?

I've had the Mot-Ion for a while now, and the eSATA header on the board (J5) snapped off as there was too much distance between the plastic header and the board (wiggling a little bit over time eventually snapped the pins in half).  If you've ever tried desoldering old eSATA headers, it's basically impossible so I can't get another header directly on the board.  I Ohm'd out J7 which is an empty slot next to it and think they're on the same circuit but don't know for sure.  So here's my question: can I install a new header on J7 and use that instead of J5?

According to the doco, it would seem you could. But I wouldn't count it given the poor quality control of these boards, who knows what Nanotech does with that port...if it's even active.

Yeah, I'm thinking that it'll probably work but was hoping that someone who knows for certain on this might chime in.  There's continuity between each individual pin so I'm pretty sure they're in parallel with each other.  I'll probably just install it, plug in the plunger and see how it goes.  What's the worst that could happen? :)

you can test if old pins have electric contact with new ones with some universal meter

Think that's what he did when he said 'There's continuity between each individual pin so I'm pretty sure they're in parallel with each other' :)

I am having serious issues getting this to work properly :-(

I follow the papers when calibrating, but it ask me to tilt the cabinet, but that is not possible. It is way to heavy and I am afraid to do so. So i just shake the cabinet as hard as I can.

Is this why I can't get it to work? If, what should I do? I really don't feel like I should tilt my cabinet in all directions with 4 guys lifting it.

The problem is that the ball is acting strange, moving when I don't touch the cabinet and also loosing speed on the way "down".
