Yes, the simpler EM tables actually seem to be the most popular at parties. I love the sounds of the older EM's they just say pinball!
One table I would request is not an especially popular one Dragon Gottlieb 1978. I had an old one give to me it was in horrible shape!
I held on to it for years thinking some day I would repair, but it was just too bad off. I reluctantly removed the playfield and turned the cabinet
into my VP cab. I still feel a little guilty and would love to make up for it by having a really nice version of Dragon in the cab.
FYI, I still have the playfield intact. It's pretty rough but if you need pics I might be able to get something useful. Backglass just completely flaked away though.

I'm an idiot! Dragon is actually SS. I was thinking Em until I went and looked at the backbox again.

Well, mine is SS, at least I think it is. It has LED display and quite a few PC boards behind the backglass.  I guess I should get use to saying "was".

Here is a link to a game play video. I never got mine working but it really does look like a boring table!

According to this review, it is! ;)
But it also has the most infamous sound effect. ;)

EDIT: Wait a second.... this is another machine, also called Dragon...

Thanks for sharing this strange but interesting pinball machine, I' ve never heard from.

What a great video quality of a extremely good condition machine.

Definetely worth to implement for simulation.

The VP8 desktop version can be found here.

EDIT: that's a recreation of the EM version without the iconic sound. :(

wait a sec that's not a dragon that's a hydra on the second pins video

a dragon only has ONE head that second pins sides and BG show a multiple headed beastie

and as far as boring play well many of the older EM's had emptier play fields

especially when compared to today's  SS pins so they relied more on a good shot rather than

'just hit the ball it'll knock into something worth points'

Could be an interesting project, Slydog. There are some nice images from Mark Steinman on IPDB. No original bumpers, but that's not important.

But since there are some other projects that are already planned which what I'm working on.

I see that there is a VP8 version on that other site.  I D/Ld it and lit doesnt look as good as modern tables (I think thats the most appropriate way of saying that).  I'm going to mess with the playfield and see what happens.  I always have such high hopes on modding a table, but after I start I get so frustrated by everything.  I have a lot of time on my hands so I really want to be able to do this.  If somewhat successful then I will ask for permission to mod.  The sounds of this game are so funny I really want this on my HyperPin cab.

Llyod Rognan seemed to like that style of art.  Check out William's Blue Chip.  The art is hillarious but the game is excellent.  Would love to do a vp rebuild of that one.

I just played a real Dodge City. What an unforgiving and awesome EM that is. For its time, quite an intriguing rule set. So Scott, if you are still looking for a potential EM to do, this one along with an awesome db2s IMHO is a winner.

if you want something to do there are plenty of VP6 40's -80's tables that will be great for an update to vp9FS at irpinball.org......i rotated the 70s and 80s  as far back as 905 in 2009 for FS on 1 monitor....they look fine and play great in any 91x on my modified XP desktop with a 2.4dualcore, HighSpeed ram and no card.....they do need a little work with the normal tweaks for the FS conversion......the script wizards will need to modify the script for the B2S.....

Chas baby where are all these mods you've made, upload them, anything created by Leo Wanker can be modded that covers at least 30% of them. ;)

Sad to hear it. I got into the hobby with VP9 and I enjoy the 70' tables a lot. I bet there is a lot of treasures from the old days just lying around that many of us have never experienced. I just do not understand it if the old designers would not allow a clean FS conversion of their creations. I think it is important to have the rule about asking for permission but why would they deny a simple conversion so that more people are able to play their creations?
