Hi all

Not long ago I got help on this great forum to set up VPX on my new playfield TV.

Now I have just added a second tv to act as Backglass - and here comes trouble!

I think I have done anything that was needed, but when I start a table the table loads up fine on the playfield tv, but the backglass tv still just show the Windows wallpaper.

VPX was installed with the all in one installer, and I made sure that I said yes to having two monitors during the install, though at the time I only had one. But as I understand it, this made sure that the B2S software was installed.

In Windows I have set up the two tv's, 1 being the playfield, 2 being the backglass and positioned next to each other in 1-2 fasion and 2 not above (or below) 1.

Then I have edited the ScreenRes.txt so it is true to the two tv's ressolution. After that I have run the B2SBackglassServerRegisterApp, which comes out saying everything is fine and BG server is registered.

But when I then go and load a table, screen two does nothing, as if VPX doesn't know it exists.

What could I be doing wrong?

I was stuck on this too and this what worked for me. In the Visual Pinball, go to Preferences - > Video Graphics Options. Change the Display there and try again.

Thanks RepairDan57, sadly that didn't do anything. Actually, the only thing it did was also remove the playfield. The only thing I have showing is the DMD which I have been able to move to the second screen (Backglass).

I have a feeling it has something to do with the B2S server or framework or something, not running correctly. I have no clue!

Did you try ALT + TAB to get to the table?

I did. It shows up in the ALT+TAB window, but when releasing on it, it doesn't show. Still, it also didn't put any backglass up on the second screen, so don't think it would have solved the initial problem.

One weird thing I am noticing, is that when I in the Video/Graphic Option changed from Display 1 to 2, Display 2 show up as 4098x2304 NVIDIA Geforce, which is not correct. The correct ressolution is 3840x2160 which is also what Display 1 is showing. Don't know if that is a tell tale sign of some underlying problem??

Try changing it to Display 1. This is what was tricking me up, just saying.

It was on Display 1. Tried 2 which removed the playfield. Now back again to Display 1 and my original problem. As I said, I have a feeling the B2S server is not running. It's as if VPX doesn't even know there's a second screen and therefor isn't bothered with the backglass.

The backglass filename is of course named exactly as the table name and in the tables folder.

Changed the ScreenRes to the above and checked the alignment in Windows. Still nothing. Just that sad blue Windows desktop screen.

Yes they are.

Just stepped away from the machine so will have to check. Is Keys DOF a choice under Preferences like Video/Graphics is?

That was it!

I had no idea there was a disable check mark under keys and DOF. But sure enough.. unticked it and now the backglass is showing. Thanks for all the help in this threat.

Now I just have to figure out how to put the DMD above the Backglass... seems like it disappears all the time.

on DMD backglasses, right click and uncheck bring to front. should stop the DMD from winding up behind the b2s

Also make sure you are using freezys (rom settings, use external DLL)

and make sure DMDDEVICE.ini says

; virtual dmd stays on top of all other windows

stayontop = True

I was going to ask this (Is Enable B2S checked on in the Preferences Keys DOF settings?)  but after you posted this post 5 > I did. It shows up in the ALT+TAB window
I didn't see any reason to ask

I figured if that was checked it wouldn't show up anywhere but I guess not

Aah, sorry about that. I thought you were asking about the table, which I translated into playfield ;) All the help I got is very appreciated.

Thank you, I will go check. I will have to dig a bit deeper to understand what the freezy and DMDDEVICE.ini is, but I am sure I am not the first, so information is out there ;) Love this part, digging for answers, learning a little bit all the time :D
