File Name: Big Indian (Gottlieb 1974)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 23 Apr 2021

File Category: VPX Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Outhere
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1974
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Based on the Gottlieb table 1974.

Table, script and graphics based on my vpx table Big Brave. I changed the colors to fit Gottlieb's table and changed the Spanish words to English.
I changed a few more things, like the apron, the backdrop for the desktop mode, and I added the Gottlieb chimes :)
This is a the 4 player version of Big Brave.

The old db2s should work fine with this table.

Ya he subido una versión sin ese problema :)

It was a reel that was visible, these things happen when you copy/paste :) I have uploaded a fixed version :), version 3.0.1 :)

The lighted triggers 010, 011, and 012 don't give bonus advances.

Fix:

Sub Trigger010_Hit
PlaySoundAt "fx_sensor", Trigger010
If Tilted Then Exit Sub

AddScore 10 + 90 * light013.State
If light013.State =1 then Addbonus 1 <ADD THIS LINE
End Sub

Sub Trigger011_Hit
PlaySoundAt "fx_sensor", Trigger010
If Tilted Then Exit Sub
AddScore 10 + 90 * light014.State
If light014.State =1 then Addbonus 1<ADD THIS LINE
End Sub

Sub Trigger012_Hit
PlaySoundAt "fx_sensor", Trigger010
If Tilted Then Exit Sub
AddScore 10 + 90 * light015.State
If light015.State =1 then Addbonus 1<ADD THIS LINE
End Sub

Weee i got a high score!

and i got a ball stuck

but i dont want the ball stuck fixed, because it was like one of the only realistically plausible ball stucks i have had on a vpx table
I was like yep, could totally see that happening on this old table

and you could nudge it right out, did not ruin the play at all

My favourite table, so I very much regret that it doesn't work with DOF even though in the "dof config tool" Big Indian is listed. What is the reason for this? I understand that code changes are needed?

The answer is very easy, I haven't added any DOF commands to the script :)

I don't know much about DOF but that was my guess :) Is there any chance to add these commands in some future version?

I guess I can add them, but since I don't use DOF, it will be a wild guess for me, without any clue at what those commands will do.

That is the hard part

I know what the commands do, but i do not have DOF so i can not test anything

i have to nag conehead to set up a dof config and then beta test the table, cause he has DOF in his cab.

It's kind of like doing lights if you can not see them

You know what the lights do, but does this work well for this table this way?
Can not tell blindly

And you would need someone to give you a list of the event ID's as they presently exist in dofconfig for Big Indian
for you to employ them to match the present config.

I see it's already on the DOF website so I'm going to assume an older version has it in already
jpsalas   If you would like me to test let me know

Wow, this is just so well made and looks and plays amazing, thankyou so much JP. I actually don't play a lot of the EM tables but this has renewed my interest and held my gaze for quite a while this morning.

If I could make one suggestion, the flippers tend to look a little flat in 1080p compared to your 2560 x 1440 screenshots. I think this is because the very fine stepped details on top of the flippers is difficult to render at 1080p even with higher level of antialiasing, especially the steps on the side furthest away from the viewer. Perhaps if there were some subtle baked in shadows or grime layer on the top of the flippers this would help to give the steps more depth in 1080p?

Or... I could just use it as an excuse to update my entire PC and screen to 4K capable.

Friends from Spain have also asked me, if you agree I can add the commands and I will pass them to you for this and big brave too and update them when you can jp

I did not find the  Big Brave table  that use those old dofconfigtool commands, I would have to update them also trying to keep compatibility in case someone is using them

Here's an updated script with DOF as far as I know the only thing that's missing is the start button light I could not get it to work right
Maybe somebody else can take a look at it and get the credit set up correctly - see top of script
I had it so would Flash but when you hit the start button, Even if there were credits left the light would go off

What is the credit light supposed to do exactly?
