File Name: Solar Ride VPX

File Submitter: jferio

File Submitted: 05 Aug 2017

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): J Crouch
32assassin
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1979
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

I took 32assassin's build of Totem, and altered it to become Solar Ride. Playfield came from a French site regarding a restoration. Plastics, backglass image and machine certificate came from the machine I actually happen to have.

Do note that there is only one slingshot on the original table, and this asymmetrical layout has been duplicated in this recreation.

NEW! I've made up a DB2S backglass to accompany the table.

Nice work, Solar Ride has been on my list for a while, I own one as well, glad to see someone new taking on this era.

just a couple minor things I like to do to these, especially this one.  I you change the plunger pull speed to 0.25 it will allow desktop users, or people with just a Launch Ball button, a chance for a "skill shot", important on this table for the multiplier.

Also since the system 1 uses a weird key emulation for coin-in, what most people have set for AddCredit will not work to add credit as you may have noticed.  if you add the following line to table1_keydown it will work without them having to edit their vpmkeys.vbs (or whatever file that is that always comes up when a new system 1 is posted)

If keycode=AddCreditKey then playsound "coin": vpmTimer.pulseSW (swCoin1): end if

Wow. What a nice surprise. Thank you very much. Really looking forward to try this out.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Thanks jferio, the SS table had no DOF config yet, that has been possible with your table :)

here is a script update for shared switches with multiple obects for the DOF config

Borgdog coin add is not in, i'm not sure how to add it (just add the line?)

Thanks BorgDog and arngrim, I've updated with your contributions. :)

As a note: There's the occasional "missed rollover" on the table... this actually also happens with the real machine, in the same places and times, so I'm pretty sure there's a bug in Solar Ride's actual ROM, not in 32assassin's original table script.

Hi jferio,

thank you for sharing this table. One question: how can I change the coin switch to "5"- button?. I remember I had the same issue with another Gottlieb early SS, but I have forgotten the solution.

thanks in advance for any help, and thank you again for the table,

Christian.

The 1.1 I just uploaded this morning should do that for you. Otherwise, follow BorgDog's instructions of the added line to add it in:

Does anyone know of a blackglass that displays the credit and balls in play correctly.    The one I have does not.   Thanks

It should be released; I could see 78 downloads earlier today.

Oh, hey, I didn't catch that, and I have the real machine. I'm uploading a new version right now with them swapped to the correct positions.

Can't get the table to load. I made sure that I have the most up to date version of VPX as well as the most updated scripts, fonts etc. And I downloaded the ROM file that was linked with the table.

I know a site where uploads gets approved quickly ... if the admin isn't sleeping ;-)

Considered uploading this to another site as well ?

That's weird. I just went ahead and did the upgrade myself to 10.3.1, and it still loads fine. Do you have the gts1.vbs script file copied into the Tables folder as well as the Scripts folder?

I just submitted it over at the universe.

Yes I do, and the table still won't run. After it happens, the script window comes up and 'controller' is highlighted.

Jferio, please re upload the table. The download link seems to be dead.
Thank you!
