File Name: Diablo Pinball

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 31 Mar 2017

File Category: VPX Originals

Author(s): jpsalas
scottywic
STAT
arngrim
thalamus
Permission to MOD?: No

Based on the characters of the computer game Diablo III by Blizzard Entertainment.

jpsalas: VPX table (layout, script)
scottywic: graphics & sounds (including DMD)
STAT: b2s (will be uploaded separately)
arngrim: DOF script commands
thalamus: dragons 3d mesh

This table could have never been finished if scottywic hadn't remade all the graphics, and made all the sounds and animations for the DMD, and he tested and tested and came up with changes here and there. So a big thanks to him :)

The table is an original, so don't look for roms :)
It uses UltraDMD or FlexDMD, so just copy the Diablo.UltraDMD folder in the same folder as the table.
And read the manual. There aren't complicated rules or modes, the game play should straightforward, but reading will help you understand the table and what are the goals.

This table is a cooperative table. The different players do not play against each other but they unite against the Lords of Hell. Still each player will have each own score, bonus, experience level, etc.

Still reading? Go and play it :)

Wow, what a great day, two really cool releases. Diablo I and II stole many many hours of my life, III, not so much, kids and other responsibilities got in the way :) Looking forward to this one.

Many thanks for this amazing table! This is such a great idea.

And the table looks and plays very professional. Thanks.

Just one thing: some of the animations won´t be shown on the DMD (e.g. lost-ball-1.wmv, lost-ball-2.wmv). On the other hand - for example - "ball-save.wmv" plays fine.

Any ideas or suggestions what might be the reason?

Many thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Jannek

They play fine for me. But one thing JP had noticed was that monitors and TV w/ refresh rates higher than 60mhz can have issues with ultradmd at times. I think JPs is 120mhz and it was bugging up on some until he dropped it's refresh rate. maybe that's the issue? Those videos play fine on my cab so this is just a guess.

Nice DMD intro guys, i like it :D

Table and DMD looks amazing, i have to play this for few hours to say some more about gameplay but one thing i noticed very qucikly - i don't like hidden force changing ball speed and direction (like Power in Addams Family), i know it's Diablo and i know it's JP and i know it's amazing but this is my opinion, maybe i got bad luck, but that "force" is sometimes too powerful and gives me instant drain :D

Anyway outstanding job guys, one of the best original tables.

One day i'll build Vitalik statue out of used AMD gpu's.

I´m using a real DMD... which one isn´t allowed to be named here. Currently I´m trying to update all drivers to latest versions and maybe to update UltraDMD as well.

I will tell you later on if this was successful.

Thanks for your support.

Wonderful table JP, looks and sounds fantastic!

Unfortunately I have yet to get any DMD display, not in a background window either. I have a standard desktop setup, only one screen, no DMD hardware, on Win10. I have extracted the Diablo.UltraDMD folder in the zip to my Tables directory. I installed UltraDMD from the Wordpress site (v1.4) but to no avail, so I uninstalled it. Then I read a recent post on a thread here that confirmed the vp10.2 integrated installer installs UltraDMD and re-installing that solved a similar problem for them, so I reinstalled but without result...and I reinstalled vp10.2.1 minimal and updated to the latest vpinmame2.8 and ran setup and defaults etc.

I'm fresh out of ideas?

Malthael the lord of hell isn't concerned with your petty feelings. HAHA

But yeah while Malthael's lightning is happening ( the purple flashers) He will attempt to thrown you to your death whether you like it or not.

OK, some new findings:

- updating drivers and firmware has not solved the issue

- beside the DMD I´ve also activated the visual DMD and there are the same issues

- I´ve found out that the problems start as soon as a single wmv file has been completley played until its end.

- the intro sequence is no problem when I interrupt it and begin a game

- as soon as a sequence is shown completley, afterwards no more video sequences will be shown anymore (this might be ball-saved.wmv or ball-lost-1.wmv - I´ve got this one also a single time. So it´s not related to the videos or their naming)

I will investigate further... nevertheless: that´s an amazing table!
