File Name: The Raid - VP9.x - MRCMRC

File Submitter: MRCMRC

File Submitted: 09 Oct 2016

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): MRCMRC
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 1984
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Thanks to:

santy14 from "La Millonaria" and "AUMAP" spanish pinball associations for providing such a good pictures of the real machine, and some playing videos.
destruk for being always there helping with script tips and tricks
And a big thanks for two great table creators, Lord Hiryu and JPSalas, for providing graphic resources, ideas, script tips, and so on...

I begin working on this table some years ago, but never finished it. A couple of weeks ago I decided to end the work, and here are the results. I got stuck on the era of VP 9.1, so this board is developed on a very old VP build, with very old techniques. So, please, report all bugs. And feel free to MOD this table without asking for permission.

Enjoy!

Hey Mrcmrc!

Thx for this rare table!!!  Looks nice! :dblthumb:

On my desktop I am running a    VP 9.9.0    version of visual pinball...

The flipper fingers moves only in slow motion speed...  10 seconds to travel up and down 1 (!) time :pinnochio:

The ball moves in normal speed...

The sound seems to be a litte bit too slow...

Anyway it looks promising!!!!! Thx :)

Regards :)

Hi,

I'll try to test the table on newer VP versions. I'm not in VP scene for some years, and I'm "a bit" outdated.

Maybe someone else could try to fix the issue...

Regards.

Thanks for the feedback.

In fact I've noticed that the table has been developed under VP 9.9.0, so it should work OK with that version. I've tried VP 9.9.1, but it crashed on my laptop on every table I've  tried.

Guys, if you want to share your Ball Settings, please post your theraid.nv File here (from VP/nvram Folder),
it contains the Settings ... ( atm. i cant, because i am away from home )

Edit: then, it is just an easy File Change for everyone, who like it.

Switch scanning is not 100% right emulated on these Playmatics, so you need to do some "tricks" on the script (basically push a switch, turn on a timer, and release the switch when the timer ends, instead of using PulseSwitch function). Also the coin door must be opened (usually switch 5 on Playmatics). Maybe one of those is the problem with Star Fire...

@ Mustang1961

I've downloaded and checked Star Fire.

Add this on line 222 of the table script:

If KeyCode=keyCoinDoor Then Controller.Switch(5)=Not(Controller.Switch(5))

Now you're able to open the coin door with "End" key, as on Trailer and The Raid :)

Hi MRCMRC,

I added the line 222 to the script and yes I can open the coin door. However the machine stucks in "boop01 000002" nothing of any button pressing, triggering or any combination of the options shows any effect. Maybe you can do the switch to 5 balls and publish here or under the support topics for Star Fire the nvram like I did it here for "The Raid". Or give further suggestions and I'll continue to try....

Thank you, Christian.

Sorry, I got stuck right at the same point. According to the manual, we're doing things right, so maybe there is an issue with the emulation itself, or with the the ROM version, or maybe I'm missing something... Downloaded the alternate ROM version, but it shows a CRC error on VPinMame 2.5. Ignoring the error the game seems to play, but the problem remains.

Comparing the Star Fire NVRAM file with the Trailer or The Raid ones discovered the position where the number of balls is stored.

So you need to take the Star Fire NV file, edit it with an hexadecimal editor, and change position 157 (9D) from 3 to 5. Tested and works.

I would had uploaded the nvram if I only knew how to attach files, sorry :(
