I thought i would share a few emulation places that I visit and think others would like, if they don't already.

This place emulates Handheld games of the past.

Most of these play on Windows. Some for other operating systems.

http://www.handheld.remakes.org/

and if you cant find the Games...

http://www.handheld....s.php?gamename=

I owned a few of these while growing up, but the one I remember playing the most was the Tomy Pac-Man.

To me, each game and pinball game represent a place in time for me. When I play a game, it is like a time capsule being opened, and all those fun childhood gaming memories come back. Just like a certain song can bring us memories, each time we hear that song. Emulation is like opening a time capsule for me. Hope it does the same for you.

I am sure most of you know about this site, but I put it here for the one's who might have never seen it before.

When VP9 came out, I was unable to get it working, because I only used the Visual Pinball Installer.(And I never bothered reading instructions). So I moved onto other emulation and have just recently figured out VP9 without installer (Amazing what reading instructions can accomplish!)

So over 6 years of stuff!!

So I have alot of different links to different emus and such.

I am just going through my old emulation links..if I find anything else that I think might be worthy, I will pass the info on.

If I am wrong for posting this type of thing here, then Moderators please delete!!

If not then you can expect upates to this post as I have many links!!

Here is a good Vectrex emulator. For this one to run, you will need java installed.

I have only found 2 emulators that run Vectrex. The other one is the M.E.S.S. emulator.

This one is way better!! All games are included with the emulator.

The homepage is here...  http://www.vectrex-emu.blogspot.com/

The Official Download Page here...  http://www.vectrex.fr/ParaJVE/

If you can't find the Download, Check for Download Link For Windows Version 0.7.0 of emulator on Right-Hand Side of screen.

This will take you back in time!!!

Hope you enjoy!

Let me know what you think.

And if you like vector graphics,

BE PREPARED TO BE VISUALLY STUNNED!!!

This is a PC remake of Atari Jaguar's Tempest 2000.

It is called Typhoon 2001.

If you like Tempest, you are going to love this!

I couldn't find the original Authors site where i first downloaded this, so I Googled and found this link..

http://digiex.net/do...000-remake.html

The download is the Attachment.

I downloaded and rechecked just to make sure it was same one. It is.

Don't forget Windows Vista and up will need to right-click on typhoon.exe and go to Properties, then click Compatibility, make compatible with Win XP SP2. Also run as Administrator. To run game click "typhoon.exe"

Hope you all enjoy!!!

      OK,

This may not fall under emulation as YOU know it. But I think it meets enough criteria.

Before everyone could afford to buy videogame systems, us kids had to find our adventures elsewhere.

The following is a collection of Lone Wolf Adventure Books written by Joe Dever. I read these books from 4th grade to 7th grade.

These are not read like normal books!!!

Joe Dever has released these to the Public!!

And Project Aon is what it's called.

Here is the Homepage...  http://www.projectaon.org/en/Main/Home

Here is the books Download page..  http://www.projectao...n/AllOfTheBooks

I have only downloaded the one at top that says "standard full-featured, multi-page HTML editions"

Here is the Direct Download link to it.... http://www.projectao...b/all-books.zip

This is the Offline Version

You will find 4 Folders inside this zip archive. The 3rd folder is lw which stands for Lone Wolf. The other folders are other Adventure Books.

To Start a Book...

Go into folder and find "toc.htm" (Which stands for Table Of Contents) and double-click to start each book.

This will always be starting place for each book and is usually found towards the end of the files.

When you read a page, at the bottom there will be a foward button with arrow pointing right....

You need to click this unless it asks you a question, and then you just click the appropriate answer, and it will take you to that page in the story.

This is not like a regular book!! When you start reading it, you will see what I mean.

The strategy is to make it through the whole story alive. You will collect many items and learn many disciplines on your Lone Wolf Journeys...If you go into battle and lose your all your life, you must restart from beginning of the book. There are many ways to lose your life...Be careful!!!  Items gained can be carried over into next book. So start with Book 1 in the "lw" folder

Here are the rules as posted on site...

The [Kai] Game Rules

These rules do not come from any particular book. They are a generic set of rules designed to help new readers familiarize themselves with the rules--not walk the reader through a particular book. The details of the rules in each book will differ from what you find here.

You keep a record of your adventure on the Action Chart.

During your training as a Kai Lord you have developed fighting prowess--COMBAT SKILL and physical stamina--ENDURANCE. Before you set off on your adventure you need to measure how effective your training has been. To do this take a pencil and, with your eyes closed, point with the blunt end of it on to the Random Number Table. If you pick 0 it counts as zero.

If you have already completed an adventure with your character, you should not pick his COMBAT SKILL and ENDURANCE again. You should use those scores already picked.

The first number that you pick from the Random Number Table in this way represents your COMBAT SKILL. Add 10 to the number you picked and write the total in the COMBAT SKILL section of your Action Chart (i.e. if your pencil fell on the number 4 in the Random Number Table you would write in a COMBAT SKILL of 14). When you fight, your COMBAT SKILL will be pitted against that of your enemy. A high score in this section is therefore very desirable.

The second number that you pick from the Random Number Table represents your powers of ENDURANCE. Add 20 to this number and write the total in the ENDURANCE section of your Action Chart (i.e. if your pencil fell on the number 6 on the Random Number Table you would have 26 ENDURANCE points).

If you are wounded in combat you will lose ENDURANCE points. If at any time your ENDURANCE points fall to zero or below, you are dead and the adventure is over. Lost ENDURANCE points can be regained during the course of the adventure, but your number of ENDURANCE points can never go above the number with which you start your adventure.

You start each adventure with your maximum ENDURANCE point score (see Lone Wolf Club Newsletter: Summer Special 1987).

If you have successfully completed any previous book of the Lone Wolf series, you will already have your COMBAT SKILL, ENDURANCE points and Kai Disciplines which you can now carry over with you to this book. You may also carry over any Weapons and Special Items that you held at the end of the previous book and these should be entered on your new Action Chart (you are still limited to two Weapons and eight Backpack Items).

You may also carry over any Backpack Items and Currency (e.g. Gold Crowns) that you possessed at the end of the last adventure. Some readers feel that you should not carry over Meals since they are perishable, but this is not even hinted at in the rules, so this is optional.

You may choose one bonus Kai Discipline to add to your Action Chart for every Lone Wolf adventure you have successfully completed; then read the section on equipment for this book carefully.

You may add one Discipline if you have completed a previous adventure successfully. In other words, you earn one new Discipline each time you complete an adventure successfully.

We used to have to keep track of these items and things with seperate piece of paper.

But now they have an Action Chart that you can keep track of all your items with.

The Action Charts use Java. (Has a built-in Number Generator for battles and can save until next reading time.)

Find Lone Wolf Action Chart here..  http://www.projectao...WolfActionChart

Direct Download Link here.. http://www.projectao...imothy/lwac.zip

And Freeway Warrior Action Chart here... http://www.projectao...riorActionChart

Direct Download Link here.. http://www.projectao...r/FWAC/fwac.jar

Find the Reader's Handbook here for rules... http://www.projectao...rsHandbook/Home

Which is also available for download in PDF form.

Also an online version with built in Action Charts found here...

http://www.projectao...g/en/Main/Books

I hope you enjoy these as much as I did growing up reading them.

Well what are you waiting for?

Let the Lone Wolf Adventure begin!!

Let me know if any of you remember reading these.

P.S.

Don't forget to keep checking back as i will be updating this topic.

Some of the things in these posts may seem obscure and useless to you, but it may be a hidden treasure for others. I will try to find a little something for everybody. Hope you find something that interests you.

This definately isn't Emulation related,

Does anybody remember The Dr. Demento Show on radio?

It used to play every sunday evening when i was a kid. It is a radio show that played funny and demented songs, like Weird Al songs.

This is next best thing!!!

This site has old podcasts of his show available for download as an mp3.

They also have songs you can buy.

That is not why I am showing you this...on upper right of this page.. http://www.madmusic.com/index.aspx

You will see a box that says "Choose your player, Listen Now."

This is a 24 hours a day non-stop funny and demented FREE radio stream. That also just happens to play Dr. Demento Radio Shows.

Just click the Player you want to use and it downloads to where you want...then double click to start stream and you're off!!

Also Here for Dr Demento but I think this costs money.. http://drdemento.com/index.html

From "Dead Puppies aren't much fun", to hilarious new songs you have never heard before.

This will keep you laughing while you play Pinball. If you like corny, and the demented. You will love this Live Radio Stream.

I could not find anything like this anywhere else on the internet, so I decided to share it with you.

I remember listening to The Dr Demento Show on KMET radio station out of L.A. Southern Cal.

Hope you enjoy!!

Tell me what you think of it.  I know it's non-emu and non-pinball related, but I remember trying to find anything related to Dr Demento and his radio shows, and this was all I could find years ago.

While I'm Off-Topic,

Thought i would throw in this link for FREE Live Audio Stream of Police or Fire or Emergency Scanner in  your area.

(If you live in USA) Sorry if not.

Link Here.. http://www.broadcast...m/listen/?rl=rr

The map shows RED where it is available. Just click any State and then County.

It will then show you LIVE FEEDS for that area. Just pick your player and press the arrow on left side of Scanner Feed.

Hope this helps people who had no idea this existed.

Some of you may remember playing old DOS games.

For those who don't know what DOS is, I will explain.

DOS is an acronym for "Disk Operating System," which was originally invented to operate the IBM PC.

DOS is a computer language.

Before Windows was invented, you had to type into a command prompt, to get your computer to do anything. Windows is just basically  like a batch program, to where you don't have to type commands into a prompt. You just click something in a WINDOW these days instead of typing out a DOS COMMAND.

To play these games on computer systems these days, you will need a program called DOSBox.

Some of you may already know about this program, and some of you may have trouble understanding how it works.

I will show you a method that maybe not many people know about.

With this method, You will not need to know anything about DOS or what to type to get game started.

THE GAMES WILL AUTOMATICALLY LOAD WITH THIS METHOD

First of all,

You will need to download the DOSBox program.

Find the one that installs into program files here.. http://www.dosbox.co...load.php?main=1

There is also a "Portable" version. Portable means that you dont have to install. It can be run from any folder you choose.

Find Portable version here... http://portableapps....dosbox_portable

And the Direct Download Link to Portable DOSBox...

http://downloads.sou...=skylineservers

Also you can check out these other great "Portable" Apps...No need for installation!!!

http://portableapps.com/apps

This Portable version comes in an EXE file. Just double click and then choose which folder you want to extract it to. I extract to My Documents. It will make a folder called DOSBoxPortable. Inside you will find the DOSBoxPortable.exe.

Ok I want you to go to where you can see the EXE for DOSBox.

If you used the non-portable version, you will find EXE by clicking START button in bottom left of your computer, Then click MY COMPUTER (May just say Computer) Now you should see your drives Starting with the drive that your Windows is installed in. (Usually C: ) ..Double click into C: and find a folder that says Program Files...double click folder and find DOSBox-0.74 folder.  Go inside folder and you will see the DOSBox.exe. (For the Portable version the EXE is DOSBoxPortable.exe.)

Once you can see the EXE, you are ready to load game. LEAVE THIS WINDOW ALONE as you will be using it real soon. NOW CLICK THE START BUTTON LOCATED AT LOWER LEFT CORNER OF YOUR COMPUTER AND CLICK MY DOCUMENTS.

SO THAT YOU CAN SEE 2 DIFFERENT WINDOWS ON YOUR SCREEN AT SAME TIME.

Download your games to documents and extract the files. Go inside the game folder and find an EXE or some are BIN.

You will be dragging WITH YOUR MOUSE this "DOSGAME".EXE (Name will vary according to game) into window where the DOSBox EXE is, and you will drop it exactly over the DOSBox EXE.

To drag and drop just left click on the GAME.EXE and hold down until you slide mouse to position it right over the DOSBox.EXE that is in the first window that you opened, and then let go of left mouse button.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE DIRECTLY OVER DOSBOX.EXE WHEN YOU DROP FILE, OR YOU MAY DROP IT SOMEWHERE YOU CANT FIND!!!

With this method all these DOS games will start automatically. Whether it's a BIN or EXE, just drag it to DOSBoxEXE and it will start game. This works also for ISO files. Just drop the ISO file directly onto the DOSBox EXE.

You can press Alt-Enter to go into fullscreen and back after the game is loaded.

NOW THERE IS NO NEED TO KNOW HOW TO RUN DOS TO GET GAMES TO WORK.

Now check out this cool remake of an Apple IIe Game called Moebius: The Orb of Celestial Harmony

Here is Download Page.. http://www.myabandon...tial-harmony-by

And Windwalker A Tale of Moebius the second Moebius game is great too!

Download Page here...http://www.myabandon...e/windwalker-t9

Extract the file and look in folder for MOEBIUS.EXE. Drag this over the DOSBox.exe and Drop right onto it. If you ever played the Apple IIe version of this game then you will love this upgrade.  Find the Game "Wind Walker" to play second Moebius game.

For more games check here...This page is where the Pinball Games Start.

http://www.myabandon...name/P/page/13/

Couple of Pinball Game Links..

Pinball 2000...http://www.myabandon...inball-2000-2vn

Pinball Dreams...http://www.myabandon...ball-dreams-1v8

And Here is Homepage with over 9,000 DOS games. 5,000 FREE DOS GAMES

(APPARENTLY SOME GAMES THEY SELL)

http://www.myabandonware.com/

You can type "Abandoneware" or "DOS Games" into google and find many other sites THAT ARE ALL FREE DOS GAMES

iF YOU STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW DOSBOX WORKS. ALL THE GAMES ON THAT SITE ARE PLAYABLE THROUGH YOUR BROWSER. ON DOWNLOAD PAGE JUST CLICK "IN YOUR BROWSER" BOX UNDER THE DOWNLOAD BUTTON. I HAVE NOT GOT THE BROWSER GAMES TO WORK FOR ME, BUT THEY MIGHT WORK FOR YOU.

Hope this Dragging and Dropping Method helps you if you couldn't get this to work before. This works for even ISO's!!! With this method the games will start with no typing of anything!!

And I hope this opens up a whole new world of Retro Gaming for those who couldn't get this to work before!

What are you waiting for?? These games aren't going to play themselves!!

Have fun!! And Remember, Emulation is the Preservation of History!!!

For one, I am unsure what I am allowed to post here. So as you can see I have been slowly working my way up the emu ladder.

I have been trying to find sites to share download content that doesn't have anything that might be considered by MODERATORS as inappropriate or illegal as I don't want to get banned from this site.

I know about the deal this site has with Stern, so I am unsure what I can post here, as there may be some other deal with someone else that I maybe didn't know about.

I have working emulation up to Playstation 2. I have gotten PSP to work, and Gamecube. And every system ever made below these.

I was just putting out the ones I felt safe with, and that weren't common or maybe not well known.(SNES NES SEGA = COMMON)

I believe your first link is where I got my Apple IIe and Commodore 64 Complete Set.

Some of these TOSEC SETS are missing some games.

Where I found my SETS of ROMS there are none missing. They have Merged and Good sets of ROMS

I am still worried about posting this site, so I will tell you what it sounds like, and I'm sure you can figure it out and google it yourself Until I feel comfortable that I am not breaking any rules here in this forum.

Sounds like "EmuPairofDice" LOL You should be able to figure this out.

I will just explain how to get each system emulated and working, as you have provided these great links to sets of roms.

Thank you Toxie!!  You saved me alot of worry!!!

M.E.S.S.

After seeing your links, I figured I would go find the newest M.E.S.S. Emulator.

And this is what I found out here...http://www.mess.org/

AS OF VERSION 0.162, MAME AND MESS HAVE BEEN COMBINED INTO A SINGLE EMULATOR!

I think I will just stick with the versions before this merger.

MESS VERSION 0.161 Emu and many other Emu's found here

Found here...http://www.emulator-.../misc/mess.html

And for ALL versions...http://www.progettos...ess/repository/

Check here...http://www.progettoemma.net/mess/

And check out this site..http://www.progettosnaps.net/

and here ..https://archive.org/details/messmame

Thanks again Toxie and please share more links anytime!!!

I would say archive.org is at least the "most legal" one can get regarding the topic. ;)
