There is a new unofficial ROM for TFTC version 4.0 which is available in the downloads section.  I can't get it to work though in visual pinball.

I placed the zip file in my Rom directory.  I replaced the 2.0 version in the script file with the new version.  Pressing F6 brings up the rom choices.  4.0 is in there but it always plays with 3.03 and pressing F6 again still has 3.03 highlighted.

What am I missing?

I am using the TFTC NM gold version.

Also running Vpinmame setup and testing the rom files does not list this version.  Not sure if it needs to?

Thanks

Here's what I did:

I did not go through the F6 menu

Open the script in the editor

Edit > Find > type in the field: RomSet1

Click Find Next

A couple of clicks will get you to the right place in the script - for me this is line 305

Replace the value of RomSet1 from tftc_303 to tftc_400

File > Save

Play and check that the system bootup screen is for the 4.00 version. That's it.

I don't understand how you can be line 305..( for me it is line 217). when I tried to do what you did it does not work the only way I got it to work was rename the ROM and rename the files inside the rom

I am running the same table as Outhere.  I did not try renaming the files.  Did you rename the file to 303?

Also you can rename all Rom Names IN SCRIPT to the newer _404 ... , if you have troubles with the Menu Settings.

Leave the new Rom untouched !

You need the latest (v2.18) SAM / PinDMD VPinMame.dll by Arngrim, it supports TFTC 4.00 unofficial.

In the script of the table, find the line Const Romset1 = "tftc_303", replace tftc_303 by tftc_400.

Tested on my cab right now and working flawlessly ;)

Not true. The alpha/beta found here supports it ... http://vpforums.org/...pha/beta-thread

Please do not promote SAM here, as it's unauthorized. We have an agreement with Stern to not emulate new games, and we stand behind that agreement.

Thank you.

Sorry Noah, I forgot about it, as I forgot about VPM beta, supporting TFTC 4.00 since 3 days ;)

No worries.

Just remember, this community was founded on preserving pinball history, not stepping on the toes of pinball's present. ;)

I tried renaming the files.  I get a popup window about errors.  The game will start but without sound.

"Not true. The alpha/beta found here supports it ... http://vpforums.org/...pha/beta-thread"

I am not sure what this was referring to.  Takes me to the home page.

Stuart

Never mind I found it.  I will give that version a try.

What version of Visual Pinball are you guys running?  I'm using the latest 991 and I've tried your suggested fixed.  After editing the Romset 1, I get another error message stating that the gamename is invalid.  Thoughts?  I really would like to get this running.  I'm using the desktop version by the way.

Try installing the newest version of PinMame found here...

http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11571

Installation:
Simply copy all of the files in the ZIP into your already existing Visual PinMAME directory. Overwrite already existing files there when asked.

Run Setup.exe and press the 'Install' button. Also you may want to press the 'Setup Defaults' button to tweak the new options, like cabinet mode for example.

Also make sure to edit script as STAT explained above..

http://www.vpforums....619#entry320772

Hope this helps.

Thanks Xenonpath.

That did the fix.  Now I get to see what this new code is all about.

Is anyone else having an issue with the tftc_400 ROM? I'm only getting table sounds, and none of the music or sound effects. Haven't had this issue with any other table/ROM so far.

Have you tested the rom via setup.exe ? Have you downloaded the rom from VPU ?

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Good idea to then make sure you get all the roms in the series. VPU uses split sets, so if you don't have the "mother" rom, then you might see such things. Paste the exact zip filename into the search in the upper right corner. Easiest way to find them.

You should have been able to give me the answer though, if your rom is broken or not. When you run setup.exe, it will tell you if all the files are there and ok. IF they say they are, there is no reason to hunt for another rom.

Better late than never, but I tested the ROM and it doesn't have the sound. Grabbed the one from VPU and getting the same results. Any thoughts?
