Hi Guys!

As you gessed with this small picture... Unit3D Pinball Pre alpha is OUT !!!!

You can download it here:

http://unit3dpinball...loads/software/

Extract the rar where you want and... read the doc (in doc/UserDocumentation/UserDocumentation.html).

The first step is to replace your current vpinmame.dll with the one present at the folder root, then launch the Setup.exe of VPinMame and install it.

We released 3 tables for this pre-alpha version: Dr Dude, Black Knight 2000 and The Addams Family.

Download it there:

http://unit3dpinball...wnloads/tables/

It needs the 3 VPM roms, respectively dd_l2, bk2k and taf_l7 (see the download section on VPF).

Extract each rar anywhere (usually in Unit3D Pinball/TABLES).

You are now ready to play! Launch Unti3D Pinball.exe on the root folder and click "Play!" (the resolution is not yet important, read the doc) but keep "Window" checked. Click Ok.

The game is launched and you are invited to browse to the table. You also can launch a given table using command line/bat file/ etc (example: Unit3D Pinball.exe "TABLES/The Addams Family/TheAddamsFamily.upt" note: it is case sensitive).

The default options are pretty high so here are some tips to tune the options if you don't reach the recommanded 60 FPS:

1) Scroll down "Pixel Light Count" => set by default to 200 (was only 8 in FP!!!)

2) Turn off reflections

3) ... and read the doc :).

We really hope that you will enjoy it and we really are looking forward to your comments/bug reports/suggestions, etc...

And if you are lucky, Santa will not forget to drop your gifts below your christmas tree while playing your killer cabinet ;).

Cheers!

Donations are still open at [email protected]

Our goal is somewhere just over $3000 (US) -- our current donation amount is $2051.23

We have enough for one legitimate Unity license - two would be better so Billbox can test easier.

Thanks to all the donators - I have been keeping careful track of who donated - and thanks a bunch to those who have donated more than once to help us reach our goal.

On my desktop pc here, i7-860, 8GB, Vista64, GTX260 I get 60fps.  Black Knight is great with the least amount of variance, Addams Family and Dr Dude appear to need about two minutes of running before the framerate stabilizes.  I love how the ball reflections change based on the location - lighter reflection, darker, and the reflections off the playfield objects like metal ramps.  The ramps seem to be very difficult to hit successfully but that's a physics issue and flipper aiming trouble.  For a pre-alpha it looks good.

Just when i thought my cab would finally be 'done' software-wise, something new comes along to distract me.. :)

Can't wait to see this in action..

EDIT: Just gave it a quick round on my rusty laptop.. Cool stuff.. Of course not very fast on this machine, but looks great (first thing to disable though was the bloom, yikes ;)).. I also like the line segment rendering a lot, that's how it should look like in VPM natively..

Thanks lot for this louizou & Bilbox :D It plays pretty good on my PC... I didn't notice much slowdown until multiball with flashing lights in BK2K. The light show in Adams Family looks amazing, and I love how customizable things are in the option. Good job guys, it's much appreciated. I can't wait to see what's in the future for this.

Pre-alpha? Come on guys...this is at least a beta...everything working great.

I LOVE IT!

You guys are amazing!

Can't wait for the product to improve (can't see how yet but I'm sure it will) but more important to see all those nice tables available..

Hats off!!

This is really amazing work guys! I haven't encountered any issues to this point. I am pulling about 50 fps. But this is my weaker machine. I suspect the main pc will do much better. Thanks for all the hard work on this...... :otvclap:

When replacing the vpinmame.dll and registering it again does it have any negative influence on the Visual Pinball or is it just an extension of the regular dll?

Would it be possible to share the changes required to compile the dll for unity?
I manage pindmd versions and would like to incorporate the modifications, a lot of people would be interested to have unity and pindmd ;-)

Awesome stuff...runs really god on my i5, Nvidia GTX660 2Gb and 8Gb ram, pretty much constant on 60 fps. On my i7 laptop, Nvidia GT425M 1Gb and 4Gb ram i get 20 fps and below that.
Btw. the "X" key is assigned to some kind of a performance meter...is there any way to reassign or dissable it,i have my left nudge key on X.

Wow, Thank you all guys! I did not saw that destruk actually splitted it, so I continued answering from main thread! If you guys are interessed in 5 pages of tests/bug reports/tips for options, read from page 64 to 69...(http://www.vpforums....c=16056&page=64)

Yes, we worked a lot on cab setup. It is explained in the doc, but not very descriptive. So, you have to switch to "FakeFullScreenAll" rendering mode in order to span to all your screens. Then switch the camera to "cabinet". You should see the PF and the backglass. Now, a new option group is available (Cab Options), click on "Calibrate cab" => you should see red targets on corners. These are "handles" you should drag to your actual screen corners. The rotation is automatic: for a 90clockwise, move the top left corner on the top right of the screen and the bottom right to the bottom left, etc... For the best result, make a real measure of your screen and entrer the values in the text boxes. You then have 4 ways to "stretch" the image (right button). An old video about it is available here : http://www.youtube.c...h?v=JpdOilfr1DA

Setting menu and aux buttons not working in BK2000

Do you mean you can't reach menus using "esc" key? Or do you talk about VPM keys for rom interaction?

Yes, of course. I think I have your mail now and you should have mine. Who else is involved in vpm dev?

Thanks for the benchmarks response. We will take note to estimate min/recommanded configuration...

Oups! We forgot to unlink this debug key, sorry, will be done in the next release...

Hi BilboX, absolutely superb work with Unit3D, best pinball simulator I've seen, so realistic. Would it be possible to add support for DirectX 10 & 11?, could that offer a significant performance increase?. Also is Unit3D optimized for 64bit processors?. Thank you. :dblthumb:

Yeah I'm also curious about the 64bit thing.  It'd be nice to have pinmame run on an entirely different core to speed things up a tad.
