APOLLO 13 - according to IPDB "the largest multiball of any pinball machine".

As OldSkoolGamer is totally sucked back into real life a few of our current projects are on hold. Time for ICPjuggla and me to start a very often in our team discussed table - APOLLO 13.

We are allowed to use images and models from the FP build of Francesco666 and Rom (thanks so much, guys). Fuzzel helped me a lot to add the rocket 3D model - thanks a lot, man.

This is a huge build and some tough scripting as the 13 balls need very special handling. But we are making progress - I've played my first 13 ball multiball yesterday night and IMHO together with the moving rocket it's absolutely freakin' awesome.

A lot to do, adding a lot ramps, replacing placeholders, more coding, so much finetuning, testing, and much more. Please be patient. ;)

It's a good job Hyperball was not a pinball machine. 55 balls, anyone?

Hyperball was *NOT* a pinball machine. It *was* housed in a standard pinball body/backglass.

The best way to describe it is a shooting game in a pinball housing with videogame rules

I played this monstrosity once and only once as IMHO it sucked big time

When I thought about 13 balls at once, can you imagine if Atari's Hercules had a 13 ball multiball? :D

What, Hyperball?

http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=1719

RapidFire?

http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=1565

Spellbinder?

http://ipdb.org/sear...type=quick#3727

Jess Askey is working on creating a game specific romset for Spellbinder for us to use - he got the cabinet and parts to build a real machine.

Apollo 13 is playable in VP8 already - but it's great you are working on a vp9 specific version.

If it's the number of balls that has you worried, you can also play Star Trax here:

Not to hijaak this thread - Hyperball was also updated to VP9 by Kristian - http://www.vpforums....ds&showfile=342

Star Trax will work in both VP8 and VP9 as it is.

RapidFire might also work in VP9 but I haven't tried it.

Gee, thanks Faralos, for saying one of my favourite machines sucks big time, lol. I used to own a Hyperball machine,

and I thought it was great fun to play. Noisy as hell but a lot of fun. Yes I know it's not a pinball machine as such,

but it had targets to shoot at, albeit sub-miniature infra red targets that needed the beam broken to register. It took a

lot of skill to shoot a couple of balls a second and aim at the targets at the same time. Each to their own though.

Thanks Destruk for letting me know that it's been recreated for VP. I just downloaded it and will try it out soon.

I see you're in COS. I'll have to meet you one day. AstroBlast on FP is similar and that plays quite well.

Polygame & Tefnacht did a great job on it.

But back to the thread topic, Apollo 13 is actually very nice to play on FP. Francisco666 & rom did a fantastic job

on their build of it. I thought the 13 balls rolling around everywhere was pretty insane and crazy to play but fun.

My machine didn't stutter playing with 13 balls. I look forward to seeing your final result Herweh. Cheers

If this will be able to play well with 13 balls simultaneously while alpha ramp flashers and awesome GI are going crazy and the rocket ship is going up and down, geez, this could be one of the best releases ever!!!

I have complete faith in the skills of you fine gentlemen, I'm sure it will be a success :-)
