the "complete" package is just 2 items, so no need for a package deal.  Ordering the pindmd from Russdx directly is no problem, and then you can look for the dmd screen you want/can afford. Like a vishay 5v or vishay 12v display available from electronics wholesalers, or a pinled display from germany, or whatever you want.

pindmd= about 70 euro

dmd= from 199 to about 500 euro shipped (depending on the model,  a red pinled is 189+10 shipping,   a 12v vishay plasma is about 400 to 500 euro shipped,  and a lot of 5v displays are priced inbetween)

pinLED is prob your best option.

I also found this the other day, seams pretty cheap any one tried one?

http://www.pinballce...anguage=english

it must be one of the cheapest displays I have seen at just 189euro and if you order it from the states im 99% sure you get it tax free so  154euro(199.89$)

Just ordered one my self to see if its any good hehe.

if you get a pinled, you will want the 16x16 block Orange one, which is 199 euro + 10 shipping to the netherlands.  It looks much better than the 8x8 block red one, which russdx has/had.

you can check out videos of my pinled display on youtube:

display:  http://www.pinled.de...31oohec7cuubci0

controller: russdx' pindmd2 (see russdx sig above) is the only option out there atm, so i am confident in saying that it is THE best one.

there is nothing else you need (apart from maybe a usb cable). The display even comes with a cable, which you can hook up to your pc power supply (12v),  the pindmd2 comes with a display connector cable, but may not include a USB cable, but 99% of people have a USB printer cable lying around.

check if your motherboard supports shutting off the power to the USB ports when the computer is off!  If not, you have to buy a pci usb card, or come up with a more intelligent solution.

Finally some time to react. The pinled is buyed directly from Pinled.

Here is a little review and later  i will post a movie off it working all together.  It works like a charm.  :otvclap:

The day i did get the Pinled i get a box and a power cable. The pinled DMD works on 12V ac or dc. 2 days later there was the pindmd2 and a flatcable for connecting the DMD. Only thing i needed was the usb cable.

Then the installation off the software it was also easy. It was very forward. The special pinmame.dll in my visual pinball directory, then install pinmame again. First reset the pc and voila it works all like a charm.  So an very good way to show the DMD like an pinball machine without a third graphics card.

Regards,

OK, guys, reading your posts here made me wanna ditch my 17" used as scoreboard.

I've never dealt with dmds before, so pardon me for my noobish questions

1. I got my hands on an original Williams DMD display taken out from the Williams Congo machine, will it work with pinDMD2 or do I have to buy the PinLed ORANGE Dotmatrix Display 128x32?

2. Regards the powering of the pinLED ORANGE Dotmatrix Display, so its basically just enough to hook it to my PC 12V power supply and I'm good to go?

Thanks in advance ;)

.......page 3.........Running your 5v Dot Matrix Display using your pc psu is also aperfect solution

:)

BTW : PinLED only sells 8x2 cluster - right ?!?

45c8bf-1374480648.jpg

is this the one that is good or bad ?

i mean you can see the gaps between the elements , that is for sure

in this video you can see another pinLED that looks like a 16x4 Cluster

in the comments i read : ....pinled with the usual dead pixel column ....  is this still the case with pinled ?!?!?
