I just read this over on the Pro Pinball facebook page........

When asked if the first release will feature a Portrait mode they responded:

"Yes, there will definitely be portrait mode in the initial release (plus a special view optimised for those with cabinets)".

This obviously depends on the Kickstarter coming soon being successful.  Hopefully many of us can support them.

I can't believe how well the computer models are rendered - they could have told me those were pictures of a real pinball builds and I would have believed it.

Well it will only materialise if people support it.  Considering their product did things over 15 years ago that no other commercial pinball software has supported to this day, there is a pretty good chance they can handle a portrait view.

Agreed, if you want to see a Project, support it and pledge some wedge :)

I prefer they take their time re-thinking their strategy - failing a Kickstarter is a massive setback, since you normally don't start one without gauging your audience and setting your goals accordingly. Messing that up shows that somewhere, your calculations got screwed up.

That, and I'm short on cash after buying a GCW-Zero and don't have much to put on my credit card.

I agree. IMO they should have a goal that will be reached without any problem and after that have several stretch goals. I have seen that work for other kickstarter projects too.

GCW-Zero is a really nice device. Good choice (owner of a OpenPandora myself)

This time, they're planning on doing ULTRA Timeshock! first, with a set goal of only $250,000 if I recall correctly. These other tables wouldn't be a problem to remaster, since their engine would already be finished after ULTRA Timeshock! releases. (I'm not sure if Pat Lawlor is still in this.)

$250,000? Thats still crazy... look at the pinball arcade kick starter for both Twilight Zone and STTNG. Combined they were less than $100k and yet Timeshock is calling for $250k?

Good luck.

I think they could make it. Considering that they raised $174,000 out of the $400,000 in a month, it should be a bit easier to reach.

I want this project to succeed so bad, i will surely support them.  however, it's kind of mixed logic to think that by streamlining to one table/project (providing less value), they can collect MORE money then they did previously.  That is assuming that many $$$ were not pledged because "well, they probably won't make it".

The only advantage they have now is the figure is smaller and there is more awareness on their brand.  This is not a cake walk at $250K but I sure hope they can make it.

I'm all for getting an updated PC/Cabinet release. My only beef is that they seem to raise their kickstarter to extreme amounts in comparison to official brand name / licenses already out there. I mean seriously - its only Timeshock!

I don't remember seeing a target of $250k being mentioned. It would be unlikely they would get that much, even though the dev costs are very likely realistic.

They have gone really quiet, not responding to Facebook posts, and their silverballstudios site has been down for 2 weeks or so.

I just bought for the kids the game they developed 'American Mensa Academy'. It's cheap, looks like the kids will learn from it, and it supports these guys.
Fingers crossed we hear something soon.

I really want them to make it and I love Pro pinball, but it is looking a bit grim. When you get 174 000 for remaking 4 tables + making a brand new table with Pat L, how much can they really bring in for just remaking one table? Maybe 100 000, but even that seems like it's going to be hard. Hope I am wrong. Timeshock is king!

I don't think you get the money if a Kickstarter fails. They have to do it again.

Exactly. Indiegogo lets you keep the money raised, but Kickstarter doesn't, so they have to do it over and hope like hell it works this time.

I'm not sure if anybody is correct here.  I think the bulk of that original kickstarter was to create a new table, & to create it with Pat Lawlor.  2 very expensive projects.  But I was under the impression that they are going to remaster the 4 original tables even without a kickstarter.

Why do they need a kickstarter of $250k just to remaster Timeshock???

That makes no sense.

If they remaster Timeshock, they will easily make their money back on that project & turn a nice profit.  No doubt about it.  If it is true that they want $250k or even $100k just to do 1 remaster, then yes they are screwing up big time.  They did these tables once before, from scratch, without any kickstarter.  & people are still buying them so many years later.

They need the $250,000 for their new engine for the game to run on. The other remastered games would cost MUCH less, since the engine would already have been developed.
