Paragon 2011 WS VP9.1.X

Version: 2011a WS
Category: VP/VPinMAME 9.x - MOD Tables

Author(s): PacDude, Bob5453

Description:
Mod of PD's table
This is a WS mod of PacDude's Paragon for VP9.1.X.

Version 2011a - adds the plunger and ball launch sound.

Version 2011 - I added a lot of walls and rubbers and other visuals, but I made them all noncollidable, this way the table should still play like PD set it up.

PacDude was amazing and so were his tables.

Noah is going to release the FS version soon, so ask him for details.

Great Mod, Bob. If i would say one thing though if you were to update this table give it your traditional nudging to make SDTM balls less easy to avoid smile.gif

Is this FS conversion from Noah really happening or was it meant as an April Fools joke? think.gif

It plays a little bouncy and the nudge is on steroids!! crazy.gif

Thanks for doing such a great job Bob! Much appreciated, especially after I failed to motivate some of the "new to VP" folks to try a conversion in the other Paragon conversion thread.

No offense Faralos, I was hoping someone new to VP would take up the task and learn some VP skills. Thanks at least for giving it your best shot, I know your PC gives you grief with the new versions of VP.

Todd.

I left the nudge alone, because they say they are going to change the nudge system and this is a VPM table that uses the core.vbs for nudging. I never liked PD's plunger, so I replaced it with the default plunger, because they say there will be a new VP plunger soon. When I removed PD's Impulse plunger, I forgot to add the plunger sounds in the script somewhere else, I will fix that, but I'll wait to see if I need to do anything else. I thought this table was less bouncy than the new Sinbad.

I've worked pretty hard on that Xtra shiney ball image over the years. This image is for dark tables and it doesn't look very good in day tables, it's pretty hard to make the transparency work perfect in ball images. I never liked that BallImage8 and it was in almost every table back in 2002, so the first thing in the editor that I learned was how to change a ball image. smile.gif I also don't like the fake transparency balls used for table reflections that some authors use, it just looks like a ball with a transparency issue to me.

Not sure what ballimage8 is but if its the one found in almost every PD table then yea, i hate it.

No one has requested a 4x3 version, I know this table doesn't look good if you try to use or adjust it to 4x3 without some modification. I should release it with the old Pacdude look in 4x3.

Thanks Bob. This table has been in my to-do list for a long time, but I never started it. smile.gif

About the ball transparency: take a look at the 2 balls I add to my latest tables. You'll see that I have added a few black (transparent) dots at the lower part of the balls, and if you don't look closely, the ball doesn't look like it is transparent, but it picks up the colors of the playfield. It is a very subtle effect. The ball feels solid to me and it changes a little the colors at the bottom.

A JP Paragon would be really cool! Please don't let this version change your mind. I have noticed your latest balls and I have kept them on the table. dblthumb.gif

Nicely done, Bob. Thanks!

Also glad that you kept the PD backglass image with the table. I prefer looking at the backglass than the backwall image. It was always the artwork of a table's backglass that would draw me to a talbe in the first place. At least it did with real tables.

It still works, it's just not on located on the table anymore. It is a reel, I pulled it off the table, look on the backdrop, left side, drag the reel back and it will turn on and off. smile.gif
