Trying to launch Super Mario Bros but it keeps requesting SMB.VBS for VP9. I cant even find it in the script downloads for essentials. Funny thing is it actually worked on my old test box.

Will someone please send me this file or provide a link? Son is dying to play this.

Thanks

SMB.VBS

smb3.nv

Use these 2 file from here --> https://www.vpforums...s&showfile=3577

Put the VBS File in Visual Pinball\Scripts folder

Put the NV File in Visual Pinball\VPinMame\nvram folder

You also may have to do this

Try to reset the ROM:
Press the 7 key to open the menu,
when the menu appears, press the left flipper,

press 1 to reset, and press 1 again,
press F3 to reset the game, play.

You may have to restart the game/VP

If that don't work try this

I have tried everything suggested in this thread (as well as a rabbit hole of other threads) to get the Super mario table running but I still end up with the same error on start up. It tells me to install 3 balls with a gprom checksum 5e86.

I tried downloading the nv file replacements. Checking if they are read-only. The 7, LF, 1, 1, F3 suggestion. I made sure that the table was not in desktop mode. I went through the game adjustments to set the balls to 3 which it was already set to. I tried replacing the script file and the nv file again. I re-downloaded the table and all mentioned files and double checked that they were unblocked prior to extracting.

I have tried all of these things in multiple orders and I am still stuck with that install balls error. I have not had any trouble getting any of the 25 or so other tables to work just fine but this super mario one has me stumped. Especially since I see all these success stories based off all the suggestions that I have tried. Maybe I am still missing something? Oh and I tried the burn in test and during that test it will drop a ball at some point (still unplayable). Not sure what that means but I thought i'd throw that out there too.

Table I am using

Super Mario Bros. (Premier 1992).vpx - 31,720KB

(My PinDMD3 works perfect with it as well as the Backglass)

Roms I have

smb.zip  - 527KB

smb1.zip  - 527KB

smb2.zip  - 527KB

smb3.zip  - 527KB

Script file

SMB.vbs - 5KB

NVRAM

smb.nv - 9KB

smb3.nv - 9KB

you do not need the smb.vbs if you have it delete it

this table is a Gottlieb System 3 table  and the table you linked is set to run with he gts3.vbs.  NOT THE SMB.VBS

LoadVPM "01560000", "gts3.VBS", 3.26

for some reason  the VP9 table author took the gts3.vbs and renamed it to smb.vbs.   (don't know why he might of made some changes)

the table is also set to run the Rev 3 rom   Const cGameName= "smb3"

so you only need to download the smb3.nv file

if you decided to change the rom then you need to initiate or download the correct  nv file for the rom you wan to use.

I was totally overlooking those lines in the script. Didn't even notice that. I tried changing the script it was looking for to "smb.vbs" in place of "gts3.vbs" and then I loaded up the table and went through the factory reset. After factory resetting I went in to the game adjustments again to set free play then I closed the table out and reloaded it. For some reason it still gives me the same install balls error and the checksum but if I hit the start game as it gives me that error the main title will load on the DMD like normal and I am able to start a game and a ball drops allowing me to play it (if I do not hit start game early enough it will give me a "Short 5" error of some sorts. I forgot to mention I did this with the file that Outhere pointed me to because it would not work on the file i posted the link to. So for now it does work but it's quirky. I guess I will need to figure it out but seriously thank you both for the help. Such a great community!

Thank you Outhere. As mentioned in my above reply to 32assassin the file you sent me to worked with the slight modification. I'd like to figure out why it still tells me to install 3 balls and then goes to a short error though. Eventually. This hobby really does eat up some serious life hours!

Again thank you very much!

I did a little more experimenting by adding the backglass to the table and then it went back to not working at all. I then removed the backglass by changing the name slightly and reloaded the table and it worked fine. Kind of strange but does that make sense to anyone? It still does the same errors as mentioned before but I can get a ball and play without the backglass just not with it.

Are you sure windows defender is not blocking the table from running the vbs script?

If it is you may need to set exceptions

Easy way to do it is open an admin powershell window and enter the following

Add-MpPreference -ExclusionPath "c:\pinball\VPX\Scripts\*.vbs"
Add-MpPreference -ExclusionProcess "c:\pinball\VPX\VPinballX.exe"

If you happen to have any custom per table scripts then also do
Add-MpPreference -ExclusionPath "c:\pinball\VPX\Tables\*.vbs"

Hi everyone, I worked all evening to find the solution and find out why I had one system that worked fine and the other not with the same backup files that I used for SMB and that was so simple i had to do it
just
check unblock security in the folder
Visual Pinball \ VPinMAME \
right clicking on the files (VPinMAME64.dll) and (VPinMAME.dll)
select properties
at the bottom right, check unblock OK

You should probably use the entire rest of his physics setup, or your flippers are going to be over powered

Thank you so much for this.  Totally worked.  I will go post elsewhere that I found someone else with the same problem.
