Nice the 443 runs just like the 442 but still tanks with the FXAA on so I guess it will depend if someone has a beefy enough system to run FXAA then I would go with the newer versions if not just stick with the 443 for now..

I am very happy with the performance of the rev 482.
A strange thing that happens to my original project , the ball is invisible.

I tried with different balls images (PNG,BMP) and the result is always the same.
I have the same table without "Wizard Hat Alphanumeric Display", and in that the ball is visible.

In rev 481, the ball works , and performance are lower than the rev 482 .

Thanks

Max

With the "Reorder Playfield Objects" selected , the ball is visible again :)
For now it only happens with this table , the revision 482 and "Reorder Playfield Objects" uncheck , all the other tables that I have tested work well.

Edit : My table for test performance is JP's ST25Th.
With the revision 482, the FPS are 210 , instead of 75 FPS of the previous revisions (with the alpha slider all the way right).

Thanks

Max

Just tried the software FXAA with rev 482 on my Win7 x64 and 306.97. On tables with only a few lighting effects it runs super smooth but as soon as there are a lot of lighting effects it starts to stutter heavily.

What should that FXAA do? I do not see any noticeable improvement.

I hope that the transition to DX9 will enable hardware FXAA and AA...

Well I been going thru all my tables and trying to sort them out and when I tried to run "BIG HIT" with B2S it loads into the editor but as soon as I hit play It crashes VP.. running 478.. works fine with 476 and back... Just thought I would let you know.. Not sure what changed in the two.. And on a side note the older ones like 442 still give 100+ more fps on tables over the newer versions.. Thanks for the continued great work :)

Hi Guys,

My PC is only Dual core 2.7, 3 Gb ram and GT210 graphics running 2 monitor cab, but JP star wars runs great all versions of VP, however, Monopoly is trouble for me, had 450fps until i clicked launch then went from 30-40 fps.

Been having lots of problems since moving my (stable running with Hyperpin) pc into my cab, now runs bit slower, ipac plays up had to reencode the start button to 2 different screw points and sometimes when press Exit Start menu pops up??

Might not be the right place but very frustrated ATM. Anyone else with issues like these? Anyway settled on 442 which is giving me 110-120fps on Star wars trilogy in gameplay.

Thanks,

Webster.

I have uploaded rev491 (in sig) which allows me to achieve pre rev444 framerates when the new 'Region Updates' option is disabled in the Video Options without effecting the fxaa framerate on tables that include primitives.

EDIT: Actually, let me clarify with respect to 'Region Updates'...
Tables I happen to have in my recently opened list...
(all tests done on my main pc, W7 x64/3570k/450gts 1gb/8gb ram with results after game started with ball in shooter lane after 20-30 seconds)

JP's Starwars
On: 315 Off: 460

Tipoto's T2
On: 690 Off: 425

LH's Indiana Jones
On: 270 Off: 285

In other words, it depends on the table.

Could you test if the Reorder Playfield Objects setting in the Video Options changes this for you?

Does the ball only disappear in certain places or what kind of effect are you seeing there?

I read here multiple times that the frame rate is very high, above 1000 fps, at most computers. I have a i5 2500k with 3,3 GHz, a GTX660 (for all 3 displays) and Win7 x64 - but the framerate on all tables is always about 150 fps, average lower. And with many lights flashing it goes down to 10 fps or so, heavily jerking. Can somebody help?

All with software FXAA turned on. Alpha slider rightmost. Region Updates on. No 3D. VPrev491. With software FXAA turned off I get about twice the fps.

Nvidia settings: 8x, on, 8x, off, extend, multisample, all, on, maximum performance, 3, multi-display-performance-mode, on, clamp, quality, on, auto, performance, on

After quick testing with rev491 (XP 32bit, gtx470 and newest drivers) I did see a performance boost with many tables. In SW the frames almost doubled and with many other tables I could see about 20-30% improvement over the previous version. So it's definitely heading to right direction. I did not see any "full ball disappearances" but the partial ball redraw is still there in some places. I noticed it also with Corvette FS table with the cars on the track -> sometimes half of the car would remain on the screen until ball rolled underneath and that section was redrawn.

Ok I spent a few hrs this morning running some tests so here they are..

All tests done on my cab with intel i5 2500k @4ghz, 8gig mem, 560Ti using the latest beta drivers 314.21(NV Settings Default) on W7 64bit.. 1920x1080 x 2 screens

All tests ran atleast 3 times (some alot more) to verify numbers and the editor restarted and table reloaded after every change..

          With VP Rev.491

               JP StarWars

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: OFF -- 405 fps                                               With Rev.443 no FXAA: 451 fps

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: OFF -- 295 fps

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: ON --- 47 fps

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: On --- 54 fps

                  T2CE

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: OFF -- 760 fps                                            With Rev.443 no FXAA: 623 fps

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: OFF -- 647 fps

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: ON --- 310 fps

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: On --- 309 fps

             Indiana Jones

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: OFF -- 1111 fps                                         With Rev.443 no FXAA: 2395 fps

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: OFF -- 2453 fps  <--- over 5000 fps when the ball is not out..wierd normally its lower fps when the ball is off the table..

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: ON --- 448 fps

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: On --- 446 fps

              StarTrek NG

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: OFF -- 827 fps                                               With Rev.443 no FXAA: 1090 fps

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: OFF -- 975 fps

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: ON --- 371 fps

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: On --- 363 fps

                Fathom dB2S

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: OFF -- 870 fps                                               With Rev.443 no FXAA: 2042 fps

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: OFF -- 1917 fps

Region Updates: ON    FXAA: ON --- 388 fps

Region Updates: OFF  FXAA: On --- 388 fps

And on a side note just tested Pinbot and Sorcerer both with dB2S running on Rev.491 they both ran perfect..

Pinbot with RU ON no FXAA --- 1472 fps

Sorcerer with RU ON no FXAA -- 630 fps

On a sidenote to avoid some confusion: Region updates were always enabled before, so this revision now just allows to turn em off.

So in the comparisons by loaded weapon, the right/old number would correspond to RU on and FXAA off..

I reboot the PC and St25Th works, performance is lower than before the reboot.
My original table only works with the reorder enabled.

Thanks

Try out Rev.443 it seems like tables with a lot of flashers like ST25th, GnR Alpha, Checkpoint<----(I think the most demanding table created) on Checkpoint I get 120 fps on Rev.443 anything past that its under 100fps
