Try fullscreen... it runs better and the taskbar will never pop up.

Windowed fullscreen is a window made to look like it's fullscreen... so the taskbar can cover it up like a regular window.  It should be the same for any windows app that uses a "windowed fullscreen" mode.

ICP,

I had tried true full screen and got stuck somewhere, then read it doesn't work with the PBX Recorder program...so I scrapped it for now.  I'm still using windowed fullscreen and used to get the task bar pop up as well.  I now have the task bar (hidden in Windows 7) and on the very top of my PF screen.  It's actually on the left side of my PF screen in Windows, since I'm running it in standard horizontal mode.

I don't see the task bar pop up anymore, although it could just be that I don't notice it with my PF screen's angle in the cab.  Hope this helps.

On PBXRecorder - I haven't looked into it yet, but if the true full screen option is just a registry key then it would be easy to have the script set the registry to windowed full screen at the start of the script and then change it back to true full screen at the end. Don't need stutter free performance if you are just capturing attract modes.

You would think something like this hiding the task bar would be top priority for the dev team to fix in the next rev..

Even my wife noticed it last night, she was like, "why dose that thing keep popping up? that's annoying!. It just looks bad babe, you need to fix that".. Once it popped up she said she couldn't stop looking at it and it was distracting.. Now when I play it's all I see! lol :-(

To use PBXRecorder I just unchecked the True Fullscreen option,

closed VPX, run PBXRecorder, once finished re-check True Fullscreen.

Easy Peasy

;-)

Of course it would be better if this process was unnecessary

with use of a script or something in case folks don't think to uncheck T.F. first.

But it's an easy work around for now...

So I figured out the taskbar issue..

In Windows 7 if you set the taskbar to static it will stay in the up position basically it won't pop up and down. Tables load fine now and I don't see the taskbar anymore! :-) issue fixed!!!!

Got Fullscreen running flawlessly on my two screen setup thanks to hauntfreaks and all the information provided in this thread. Never again will I ever go back to Windowed mode :)

Really appreciate the help.

It would be nice if VPX had the option to render the DMD itself, instead of relying on VPinMame to do it.    That would solve the whole "ddraw" problem.

It's kind of frustrating to look at the beautifully rendered DMD inside the VPX Cirqus Voltaire playfield, and see the ugly, blurry/blocky 90's era "DirectDraw" junk on my DMD monitor everywhere else.  :)

For anyone using atarian's "alt tab" work around, as of VPX 10.2 beta revision 2760, an option has been added for VPX to automatically do this for you.  Many thanks to atarian for the original workaround and to fuzzel and toxie for all their work on VPX.

http://www.vpforums....=13#entry353325

*edit*  It's right under the option to "force exclusive fullscreen mode".

*edit*  Hey guys... I applaud anyone who is deciding to make the plunge and set up true fullscreen in VPX, but please don't start posting about "crashes" and VPX not being able to find your roms, etc in the 10.2 beta thread until you have read this entire thread, especially concerning ddraw.  All questions are answered in this thread.

The VP developers are going to get annoyed with their beta thread being cluttered with these posts when they are trying to work.  My intent was not to direct these questions to that thread, but only to point out a new feature related to this thread.  Thanks for your understanding with this, I really appreciate it.    :)

That's great news. Are we still required to make the change in the registry foe each tabke if using vpx 10.2?

Are you talking about the ddraw setting?  If so, that is not related and yes, you would still want it to be zero.  There's a tip earlier in the thread about setting it in the "default" registry entry... so you should read that.  Saves some time.

If you didn't mean the ddraw entry, please just clarify what you were referring to so I can try to help.
