Based on the table Attack from Mars from Bally, 1995

New in 1.1

added the small UFOo leds, reflections, and some adjustments in the fading lights, nudge, Gi, and in the general settings. There are also a few new backdrops in the zip file.

Update 2.1 - 8 December 2010
Well, AFM is my favorite table, so as soon as I found a new graphics I had to update the table style_emoticons/default/smile.gif
So in this table you'll find a new playfield, with new lights, a new big ufo and some adjusted settings. And if you want some higher graphics then get them from the FS table style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

Enjoy!
JP

Update 2.2:
- fixed the ball hitting two posts on the side, now the ball go strait to the flippers, like in the real table.
- added some rubber and metal sounds.

Update 2.3
- updated for VP91x, with alpha ramps and some settings change.

Update 2.3.1
-reduced contact friction to 0,0025 (from 0,0035)
-changed ramps elasticity to 0,3
-changed hole script to prevent missing balls
-Added Gi light under the ramps

What's New in Version 2.4.0 (See full changelog)

  • Update 2.4
  • - Updated the table for VP914
  • - Tried to fix (again) the ball error during multiball
  • - New Aliens, thanks to Aurich
  • - New graphics, new flipper settings, new script (fading lights, ball collision, ball rolling, etc)

Hey JP thanks for the update once again. Visuals are great, but gameplay is quite different to the previous version. Can't hit shots as accuratly as before, which makes it harder, but maybe that was intented?

Yeah me neither! Graphics are great but aiming with those flippers is terrible.

Some combo's don't seem to get registrated as well, but mb that's a gameplay fault.

This update is amazing! Love it!

I do however have an issue with it: The graphics look a bit weird at some points. The ball looks like it it going through the half of the flippers for instance. The flippers work fine but it looks odd. It's only this table and with the latest executable. (previous executable did not have this problem but was giving square flashers). Am I the only one having this problem?

Thank you!

Love it. Thank you again for another awesome installment.

Works great on Windows 8 Professional 64x. No issues.

I have the latest VP 9.14 and I think I am also getting the "square flashers" you are decribing.  I am seeing the small UFO and BIG UFO cetner strobes flash too brightly, and they illuminate a square area just a little larger than the UFO body when they go off.  The one on the right over the shooter lane and the big UFO seem to be the worst.  The previus version (2.3.1) did not do tihs, either with VP 9.14 or the previous version, 9.13.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated - Thanks!

I've noticed the same aswell. Feels like the flippers are alot weaker on 2.4 then 2.3.1.

Now this is one awsome table.  Lots of fun.  Love the sounds......Keep it up.

Well, I'll have a different thought.... AFM is my all time fav pinball in real life and this applies also to virtual pinball. I played your previous 2.3.1 version for hours and if this one offers some improvment in the graphics part I have to say that playability is worse :

- bad ball control (ramps shooting for instance or the center)

- less flippers reactivity

- some graphic parts like drop targets unrelated to the real AFM

- overdone blur enhancements for saucers

To be fair I have to count in the good parts :

- much nicer ball

- overall good looking table despite the overdone blur parts

- nice white effect for the central saucer

- the bumpers are much more alive than the sluggish ones in 2.3.1

Back to V2.3.1 !

Let's be helpful here !

About the saucers flashing lights... The right ones flash over the pinball cabinet so they're not seen as squared as the left ones that flash inside the cabinet, on it's wall, a little work might do it, mostly if progressive  transparency is applied from center to end to some of the dents.

About the flippers, the right one is really less thorough than the left on it's trajectories, it's less obvious to enter stroke of luck than the previous versions. Also the same sound as the bumpers is a big bad.

Also a bug in the center target : if hit hard/fast enough, it drops, the ball goes behing, the target is up again with the ball on it but when visual pinball tries to find the missing ball it cycles to martians and the first 3 targets but not the center one.

A thought just out of this talking, I've tried pinball fx from zen studio and even it couldn't be considered as a pinball simulation it shows that clearly a good pinball simulation is doable on a pc... Just my two cents.

There is a bug in the display when you flip over the score by making more than 100.000.000.000 it displays 01.000.000.000 rather than 101.000.000.000.

Fantastic table. Thanks for the great work.
