The sequel to Raygun Runner. You’ve gone from city slum gun smuggler to full-on organized criminal arms dealer. But you’re a gangster with a heart of gold, determined to take down evil corporations, artificial intelligence, and corrupt politicians one shady deal at a time. Balance your criminal heat-ray-building enterprise with clandestine work as an anti-capitalist super spy. 
 
Another completely original table designed by me. I designed the layout, wrote the rules and script, modeled the primitives, and composed and performed the music. Art is made with AI and collaged onto the table.

OBJECTIVE: 
 
Complete spy/crime missions, battle on the streets of a cyberpunk city, and build power cores or weaponry to raise your reputation in the red neon underworld. Completing one of each (mission, battle, build) will start Caper Mode for massive points.  
 
Two ways to “beat” the game. Complete all 8 missions and earn and extra ball, OR raise your reputation three times to complete the Mastermind Caper, the final Wizard Mode for the table. (Try to beat both in one game to be a true Heat Ray Master).
 
MISSIONS: 
 
Eight missions can be started via the four ramps. Each ramp randomly starts one of two missions after spelling SPY, PULL, TRAP or RING. Complete all eight for an extra ball and 100,000,000 points. 
 
SPY 1 – Cybernetic Secrets. An underground maze will appear deep in the basement of a corporate building. Find the secret data before time runs out. You can move your ball by pressing any button. It will jump diagonally in the direction of the lit arrow, which cycles between four directions. Any “?” spot could contain the secret, so check them all as fast as possible. 
 
SPY 2 – Sleepercell Assault. Crosshairs will randomly appear in front of the four ramps. Shoot them to assassinate corporate sleepercell agents who’ve been activated to commit atrocities on behalf of billionaires. Shoot four to complete the mission. 
 
PULL 1 – Racket Snatch. All major shots will be lit. A designated amount of money you must steal will appear on the scoreboard. Shoot as many shots as you can to steal money from corporations. Each shot steals a random value. Meet the goal to complete the mission, but the stolen cash will be converted to points either way. 
 
PULL 2 – Vault Breacher. Break into the highest security bank vaults that guard secret technologies developed by the corporations. Your intel source will tell you which wire to cut to deactivate the security system. Shoot the corresponding target of the same color to blow the vault open and start Vault Multiball. Shoot the PULL ramp for jackpot at least once to complete the mission. Too much chaos to catch the intel? You might have to shoot a ramp again to find out which wire to cut. 
 
TRAP 1 – Smear Snare. Plant traps for corrupt politicians, both physical and digital, to trick them into incriminating themselves. Shoot the captive ball to set a trap somewhere on the playfield. Then shoot the trap to set it. Shoot three to complete the mission. 
 
TRAP 2 – System Sabotage. Install viruses on the corporate networks to disrupt their insidious artificial intelligence systems. Random ramps will light with digital conveyor belts. Shoot the ramps to install a virus. Shoot three to complete the mission. 
 
RING 1 – Blaster Dealer. Maintain your criminal enterprise by selling weapons on the street. It’s not all scavenging and smuggling anymore. Now you’ve got to maintain high profile clientele. Shoot the Factory Bumpers to manufacture weapons. Then shoot the ring ramp and send the ball down the left wire return to prep a blaster for sale. Then shoot the ring ramp again and send the ball down the right wire return to load the weapon. Finally, shoot the ball through the blaster barrel to complete the mission and make the sale. 
 
RING 2 – Organized Climb. Climb to the top of the criminal underworld. First shoot the power core to open a passage to the underground, then shoot the gun to descend. An underground playfield will appear. Fight off rival gangs and claw your way to the top. Shoot bullet targets to complete the mission. When they run out, shoot the ramp, then the spinner to replenish them. Keep shooting bullets until you win. 
 
BATTLE MODES: 
 
There are six available battle modes, but only one is queued up at a time. The holographic projector pyramid on the left will show you what Battle Mode is currently prepped. Shoot the crosshair targets and then the captive ball to start it. 
 
Street Sniper: Video mode 1 - Ride your speed bike through the city streets and fend off attacks from rival gang bikers. Move your bike with the flippers and shoot enemies down with the plunger key. Shoot all bikes to win. 
 
Starship Standoff: Video mode 2 – Face off with a corporate enforcer ship trying to stop you from shipping intergalactically. Block its lasers with the left flipper and shoot your own with the right flipper. Act fast and balance blocking and shooting before the time runs out. 
 
Spy Drone Invasion: Corporate spy drones will fly overhead, trying to record your criminal acts and bring you down. As they pass by the flashing crosshairs, smash the plunger button to blast them out of the sky. Destroy all four to win. 
 
Corporate Police Bots: Company enforcer bots will come to apprehend you. Hit them with the ball to destroy them. Destroy both to win. These bots will not relent until they are destroyed. With every shot they take on you, your score will go down. 
 
Destroy the Core: Cut off the corporation's power supply by firing your sniper cannon directly at their core. Load the cannon with either of the left ramps, then wait for the cannon to line up with the green power core. Press the plunger to launch the ball and complete the mission. 
 
Sidearm Shootout: Time for some good old fashioned gun slinging. A ball will appear in the small right playfield on the apron. Press either flipper to send the ball left or right, trying to hit one of the two targets, but be warned, a flipper will try to deflect your shots! Shoot seven targets to win. 
 
CAPER MODE: 
 
After completing a Mission, a Battle, and a Build, Caper Mode will be primed on the SPY ramp. Caper Modes block three lit shots together in a group, but they will move depending on the type of Caper Mode. Sometimes the three shots will shift left or right with your flipper buttons. Sometimes they will move to the right slowly over time. Sometimes they will blink on and off in tandem. Shoot three lit shots to complete Caper Mode. 
 
MASTERMIND CAPER: 
 
Mastermind Caper mode will be primed after you raise your reputation three times. It functions identically to a normal Caper Mode except is worth many more points and you must shoot six successful shots to win, defeating the Heat Ray Heist final challenge and winning the game. 
 
SHOP: 
 
The shop will open after many successful loop shots. Earn money to spend at the shop by completing missions and battles and spinning the Coin spinner. 
 
Shop Items: 
 
1. Armor – For a low $1000, turn on a temporary ball saver. 
 
2. Gamble – Spend $10000 for a chance to win big. 
 
3. Weapon – For $100000 build a new weapon – sometimes this simply swaps out your active gun, but if you’re lucky, it will add permanent bonus round weaponry. 
 
4. Upgrade – For $100000, permanently upgrade your table. As you gain upgrades, this table becomes exponentially higher scoring. 
 
Money will be converted to points at Game Over. 
 
BUILD ITEMS: 
 
POWER CORES: Spin the power core at the loop to charge it. Once fully charged, that power core’s permanent upgrade will be installed. Complete any mission or battle to switch to a new power source. Upgrades continue to stack. 
 
Psychokinetic Plasma – Green – Raises Mission and Battle completion value. 
 
Chemical Superfuel – Red – Raises ramp shot value. 
 
Hyperthermal Deisel – Orange -- Raises Caper Mode Value. 
 
Electro-Lunar Wind – Yellow – Raises jackpot value. 
 
Sub Arctic Pressure – Blue – Raises multiplier (on top of all other multipliers) 
 
Anti-Magnetic Steam – Purple – Raises Build completion value. 
 
GUNS: Shoot the far right of the table to drop your ball into the Gun slot and fire away. After seven shots, you’ll build a new weapon. Gun perks are only applied while the gun is active. 
 
Heat Ray Pulse - Red – Fires ball through the spinner loop. Doubles the value of Combo shots. 
 
Sunburst Bazooka - Orange -  Fires ball through the RING ramp. Adds a Fusion target by the captive ball worth a random point value. Also doubles the duration of the Laser Magnifier. 
 
Thundershot Railgun – Yellow – Fires ball through the SPY ramp. Doubles the amount of money you earn from the Coin spinner and the Shop is prepared twice as fast. 
 
Radiation Revolver – Green – Fires ball through the TRAP ramp. Every time you fire this weapon, it has a change of discharging residual energy, which you can pick up for 1 million base points (upgradeable) 
 
Ion Splicer – Blue – Fires ball through the spinner loop twice. Temporarily increases the value of all spinners, bumpers, and targets. 
 
Starlight Breaker – Purple – Fires ball through the PULL ramp. Adds a narrow magna save above the drain. 
 
HIJACK MULTIBALL: 
 
After completing a Mission, the ball lock will be lit at the SPY ramp. Shoot the ramp to load a ball onto the Corporate jet at the upper left of the table. Once you’ve snuck three balls onto the vessel, you commandeer the plane and start Hijack Multiball. Shoot the SPY ramp for jackpot (within the first 60 seconds). 
 
SPECIAL PLAYER TOOLS: 
 
There are a few other tools at your disposal at all times. You have a very tiny flipper by the power core that you can use to send the ball through continuous loops, earning you $1000 (important for early game!) and making progress toward opening the shop. You also have factory bumpers, which after enough hits will build you armor and grant a ball saver. Finally, the Laser Magnifier is a powerful feature of the table. On the RING ramp right path, if you shoot through the barrel of the Magnifier, all points will be temporarily doubled. Time these shots during big point events! 
 
 

What's New in Version 1.0 (See full changelog)

  • -Fixed minor glitch in Starship Standoff where the shield wouldn't protect you if you let go too soon after blocking a laser.
  • -Fixed the center flasher on the floor flickering when you win Organized Climb.
  • -Fixed the skyscraper in the back to be the tallest.

Hmm sorry about that. That pertains to the B2S backglass file which is all code I didn’t write so I’m not sure how to fix it. If the table1.showdt is set to false it shouldn’t even be trying to use the B2S. But if you’re needing it it might be something with how B2S is installed or if the backglass file is properly extracted and in the right place.

Beautiful, Fast, Fun.  Best Table yet!!!

The backglass should be included in the download, but only works with B2S. I don't do a DMD with Flex or anything. There's an "on apron" DMD I do my own way and that's it. And then a score text.

Thanks for the FlexDMD mod....I like that...now missing a nice overlay for it....

@CrimsonTurtle8: Somehow I only got a download link with just the .vpx. But found it now, thanks.

 

I actually got an error when I just played it again (never had a better run...): 

Runtime error 18945 when I got the Ship Commandeerd hijack multiball... I've got screenshot.

 

Some things that might be bugs:

While getting the balls locked you get a ball lost messages by the way.

And somehow all sounds are coming through my table exciters, not the backglass.
