Operate whimsical lab equipment to open gateways to parallel dimensions. Explore the multiverse and bring back relics from unknown realms. Six quest modes, six mini game modes, two multiball modes, a wizard mode, and 8 unlockable gadgets.

The spiritual sequel to my table Experiments of Alchemical Chaos, Vortex Plunder expands the objective of “studying an alternate universe” to be “explore as many parallel dimensions as possible.” The main goal of this one was to finally make a smaller table with a bigger ball and more narrow, challenging shots. (I usually make tables with intentionally easy ramps.)

This table was made 100% by me, including the layout, modeling, design, code, rules, concept, and music. The art was made using AI and collaged onto the table.

OBJECTIVE:

Complete modes in the lab to build machine parts and open the vortex machine. Every two parts you construct, the vortex will open, allowing you to explore a new dimension. Shoot the blinking shots to gather information and mysterious relics to bring home. Every one of these shots grants you your current Vortex Value, (increased by hitting Machine Parts while they’re active).

Decode the relics in the far left kicker for a huge points haul. Complete all six modes to start the wizard mode and gain an extra ball.

MODES:

VAPOR NET MODE:

Shoot the three Dark Matter Batteries to power the Gamma Spray Machine. Shoot the left kicker in the red zone to light the infrared path, then shoot the path with the upper flipper to start Vapor Net Mode. Holographic vector nets will appear on the table. Shoot your ball into three nets to complete the mode.

SINGULARITY MODE:

Shoot the red ramp (Ripple Scanner) to temporarily raise the blue target at the Pulse Radar. Shoot the target fast to start Singularity Mode. Now shoot the Pulse Radar to track down the hidden blue-lit shot. Shoot at least one shot to complete the mode.

QUARK STRETCH MODE:

Shoot the yellow bumpers (Atomic Colliders) to fill the light meter near them. When it’s full, shoot the far right purple ramp to start Quark Stretch Mode. Now shoot the yellow ramp to send your ball through the electric current at least twice to complete the mode.

QUANTUM DIVISION MULTIBALL:

Shoot the yellow ramp (Atom Splitter) rapidly to light “1, 2, 3” on the ramp itself. After “3”, shoot it once more to split your ball in two and start Quantum Division Multiball. Shoot the red or green ramps for jackpot. One jackpot will complete the mode.

VACUUM INVERSION MODE:

Shoot the green ramp (Physics Stabilizer) and then shoot it again fast while it’s still lit to start Vacuum Inversion Mode. This will open a rainbow wormhole at the Gamma Spray kicker. Shoot it, then shoot the floating atom to complete the mode.

GRAVITATION BAY:

Shoot the four forces of physics at the right kicker (three targets, then the kicker) to start Gravitation Bay mode. This will kick your ball back into the plunger lane. Plunge the ball onto the gravity funnel, then when the orbiting purple device is lit, press any button to send the ball up into it and complete the mode.

REALITY RESETTER (Wizard Mode):

When all six modes are complete, the Reality Resetter will appear. Shoot the ball up the twisted ramp and back into the machine to complete the mode and earn an extra ball. The button on the face of the machine will increase the value of a successful Resetter shot.

MACHINE PARTS:

When you complete a mode or minigame, you will construct a machine part necessary to start the Vortex Machine. Collect two parts to open the portal. These machine components will appear at one of the four bays in the center of the table, allowing you to earn points or raise the value of successful shots in an alternate dimension (Vortex Value).

Temporal Wrinkle Flattener (Red) - Spin this to earn small points but significantly raise your Vortex Value.

Galactic Radiation Dampener (Blue) - Spin this to earn big points but only slightly raise your Vortex Value.

Solar Flare Negator (Yellow) - Rock this machine back and forth to raise your vortex value and keep the ball saver lit.

Nuclear Fuse Primer (Orange) - Shoot this floating jet machine for a massive points haul but a very small Vortex Value increase.

Thermodynamic Reverser (Green) - Spin this to earn medium points and raise your Vortex Value a medium amount.

Ultraviolet Synchronizer (Pink) - Shoot this machine to increase your Vortex Value a large amount and keep kickbacks lit. It will temporarily fade halfway out of existence between shots, allowing you to shoot through it.

Wormhole Horizon Dilator (Purple) - Shoot inside this machine to light the Decoder device and earn a random Vortex Value.

Interdimensional Noise Filter (Turquoise) - Shoot this machine to earn a random point value and increase your Vortex Value a medium amount.

ALTERNATE DIMENSIONS:

After two machine parts are built, the Vortex on the upper orange playfield will open. Shoot up the ramp and into the machine to enter an alternate dimension. Random shots will blink, sometimes changing. Every two shots will earn you a Relic. Every shot is worth whatever your Vortex Value is, but that value will deplete when you exit the dimension as the time runs out.

RELICS:

Found inside alternate dimensions, these Relics raise your end of ball bonus and can be Decoded at the left kicker behind the Dark Matter Batteries. This will earn you major points.

DECODER:

This far left kicker is used to decode Relics, but will also grant you randomized rewards when lit. Shoot the lever with the upper left flipper to light it.

MINIGAMES:

After 20 successful shots on the table, a random kicker will be lit with a floating cursor. Shoot this shot to start one of six minigames in the underground playfield.

SHOOT THE MOVING LIGHT: A red light will move around on the upper half of the minigame field. Control the lower lights with the flippers and press the plunger to fire at the red lights.

CATCH THE FALLING OBJECTS: Balls will randomly drop from the top of the minigame field. Control the lower lights with the flippers to catch the balls.

DIFFUSE ALL BOMBS: Press the plunger to line up the moving light on the bottom with any red light still lit at the top. Shoot all five red lights.

DODGE ALL ATTACKS: Balls will randomly shoot up at the top of the minigame field. Use the flippers to move the white light out of the way and avoid the balls.

SHOOT THE TARGET: A drop target will randomly pop up on the minigame field. Press the plunger to fire a ball at it and try to hit it before it drops again.

POWER THE GENERATOR: The lights will move back and forth on the bottom of the minigame field. Tap the plunger to the beat exactly when the red light is lit. Tap on beat enough times to win.

PARALLEL MULTIBALL:

Every time the Vortex is open, a target will appear in front of it. Shoot the target to prepare the Ball Lock arm. Then shoot the yellow or red ramps to lock a ball. Lock two to start Parallel Multiball and occupy three parallel universes at once. Shoot the yellow ramp for a jackpot. The jackpot value is increased exponentially by the number of balls in play and can be stacked with Quantum Division Multiball.

It's been awhile since my last table! I had to take a short break.

This table is a direct response to the many people who requested a bigger ball and/or smaller table. (And a bit more challenging, I hope!) It was more fun than I thought to work with less space.

Thank you to everyone for your help solving playfield problems and other advice over the months, especially with the B2S

[PS: The sequel to Raygun Runner is coming...]

yep, your tables are cool and flashy, but they dont feel like pinball, they play like a pc game, take account that most people here use vpx to recreate the real thing gameplay wise, thats why your tables are not in my cab, they are awesome, but it doesnt feel like pinball, i enjoy them on my desktop pc as pc games

Okay, thanks for your opinion. I don't get why you act like I should fall under some sort of umbrella of what "most people here use vpx to recreate." I just do what I like. That's why it's under "Visual Pinball Originals." It's original from the ground up, not a recreation. Thanks for playing, though! -- Oh and it's worth noting, I also consider them PC games... because they are. I don't have a cabinet. I just design them on a laptop with PC gaming in mind. I don't really get the point of your comment. Are you trying to get me to design them a different way? Because I have no intention of doing that lmao.

crazy and fun at the same time, love the layout and all the zany things that go on, A really change to the normal type of play and i love it.

Dont ever stop creating these weird wonderful tables which are different from the norm.

Love the designs you make.

Thank you!

Somehow I got carried away and didn't get this one! I'll remedy that. Thanks for all you do. At the end of the day, ALL vpx tables are video games. I say enjoy it and if that allows you to stretch the limits of pinball, then all the better! That's why when pinball snobs tell me vpins aren't like real pinball (which to them means worthless) I say that's right! Isn't it great? Because the fact they can twist reality and be MORE than a boring old real pinball (not really saying real is boring fyi) is what makes this stuff so dang amazing. And yours are some of the most amazing at the moment.
