metallica VPX8 Stern
Table based on Metallica Pro by Stern, from 2013.
Thanks to:
freneticamnesic: for the Spikey and Snake meshes.
EbiIsLit for the playfield.
This is another "JP's" table, meaning it plays like the original, but there are some differences. In this table there are no layout differences, only ornamental. I have added some decorations here and there,
The playfield is based on the EbiIsLit LE playfield, I simply edited to be the Pro version of the table.
There wasn't any Pro version for VPX, so I thought, why not make one? I still think the Pro version of this table has a better flow than the LE version.
Notes:
- Yes, the snake is hard to hit, and the ball many times will just bounce inside the head and it will not lock, as the original does.
- The spinners don't exist in the Pro version, but I had to add them, but they are situated at the start of the ramps. They do not score in the game, they are just there for fun.
- The lights are not leds, they are good old lamps
So, there is no fancy Gi color lightning. But the LE version by VPW has incredible lightning
This table is for VPX8 only and it has been built and tested with RC4.
The ROM used is the PRO version, the latest for this table, download it from the Stern site and zip it to mtl_180. Don't use the LE or Premium ROM as they will not work.
Everything should work just like the original Pro version, if you find any bugs don't hesitate to write them in the Support thread

- - Updated physics to my latest rev 4.3.1. mostly bouncier rubbers and harder flippers.
- - Activated the modulated flashers as default.
- 5.5.1 Updated 14.01.2025

- - New playfield mesh to stop the ball stuck on top of the flippers.

- 1.0.0 Released 17.09.2024

This may be a silly question, my upfront apologies! I have always assumed that when a title from JPSallas starts with "JP's", it is not a 100% recreation but more considered to be a tribute to that title. Now I checked the screenshot of this Metallica and it seems quite like the original table. But -by far- not every table of the great JP starts with "JP's". So, what does it mean when the name of a table starts with "JP's"?
I think there were enough changes to call it "JP's..." as the table wasn't 100% like the original
Thanks JP;-) So, to roll it up: A table without the prefix "JP's" is intended to be as close to the original table as possible; a table with the prefix "JP's" will have (intended) differences compared to the original table. Would that be a correct explanation?
JP is old school, when we all used to add our name to the title of our content....
I got the sticking flippers fixed but I am now getting
You Need the latest sam.vbs in order to run this table, available with vp10.5
If I cancel the notification table plays with no problems.
I am using 10.8

I guess you need to update the scripts too, and not just the exe file, all the scripts.
I believe if people are having play issues... make sure your up to date on all of these:
VPX 10.8.0 RC4 or later: https://github.com/v....0-1975-051104c
VPinMame 3.6.0-998 or later: https://github.com/v...6.0-998-a77c2d2
B2S Server 2.1.2 or later (if B2S used): https://github.com/v...ases/tag/v2.1.2
Thank You for this great Table, JP!

yes, I can play! follow your instruction, delete the le version, and rezip it, it works. I'm Hong Konger, hard to deal it because of bad English, thankyou!
Gracias JP una version preciosa !
So, will the rom work for the older (LE/premium) table versions or is there a need for multiple rom setup?
Part of my Flippers are not moving, the flipper moves and hits well but the art on top of it is stuck, any ideas?
