Thank you for making this table! Great work!
That movie has a special place in my heart.
When I launch the table, I get a "Gameplay Halted Unclean Nvram" error on the DMD. Never seen that before.
Also, the music isn't playing for me.
Would really love to get this table working.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Best to post in the table's support thread
But...
If you are getting unclean nvram, it means that you opened the table, did not finish playing and closed the table.
This is mentioned in the readme file that comes in the zip.
These tables use a Taito electronics that has power loss restoration.
Meaning if you unplug the REAL table, and plug it back in an hour later, the game is still in progress.
The table script does not see it that way, so the script says clean boot, the ROM says no no, still have a game in progress.
Either shoot the balls down the drain until the ROM says game over (which is 5 balls at most)
Or just delete the heavymtl,nv file from pinmame\nvram and restart the table.
This is covered in the readme file.
It is the only way you would get that error, you would not get it if you have never ever run a table using this ROM before.
The music will not play unless
1) You download the music, which is a separate download as noted above, and extract it into your visual pinball\music folder
or
2) You provide your own music, and edit the table script to match
You will need 16 tracks
Hi Weisshund,
first of all, thank you for your time spent on this nice table and for sharing it with the community.
To fix the nvram issue you can embed my patch that JPsalas embedded in his Taito tables.
For example, download the JPsalas' Shark - Taito 1982 table and take a look at the end of the script, there you'll get a section that he called: "NVram patch for Taito do Brasil tables by Pmax65"
Import that block of code and place the three calls NVramPatchExit, NVramPatchLoad and NVramPatchKeyCheck as per explained there in the remarks lines.
Then, just adjust the constant GameOverLampID to the ID number of the game-over lamp and the issue should be over.
The only thing that remains unfixed is that in case you exit the table with the ball not in the drain you'll lost the eventual record scored during that play session.
Not that bad I think.
In case of trouble fell free to contact me, of course.
Again thank you for this nice table.
Have a great day.
Massimo
I thought about that, but like you said, it entails wiping your scores.
I just shoot a max of 5 balls, and tilt each one so they hit the drain faster
Or, i finish the game and ignore the script, if it looks like i might be close to a high score, cause the ROM does not care at all.
Hi Weisshund,
I thought about that, but like you said, it entails wiping your scores.
Maybe that I was not clear: it's not automatic that it clears the high scores and the last score (the ones of the last session which ended with the ball on the table).
The high score in not cleaned at all, it's the eventual ones scored in the last session which ended with the ball on the table. In few words, that code restores the nvram status before the last wrong closed session, as if it was that the session which ended with the ball on the table had never existed. Which is exactly what it happens now if you you currently end the session that way, you still can decide to lose your 5 balls in the drain and nothing happens in that case. But in your current case, if you missed to do the "quick 5 balls into the drain" manual procedure, your code imposes you to remove the nvram file, and then the code restarts with the factory defaults, while with my code patch you resume and hold the status of the controller at the time of last correct exit from the table.
I've been clear now? (sorry I'm Italian, English is not my language and sometime I've issues to avoid misunderstandings)
BTW,
I just seen that JP didn't include the number match sequence patch. I successively discovered that despite that code patch, in some Taito tables, in case you shut down the table during the final number match sequence (when the 2 digits random number is counted), the high score is lost anyways. So I introduced an additional few rows code to avoid it. I did it checking one lamp that is off during that sequence and returns blinking after that.
I must say that probably this issue is also present in the real controller into the real pinball and I suppose that it is just because the high scores are stored into the nvram after that sequence.
Have a great day.
Massimo
this would really be better discussed in the table support thread.
among other things i get no notices about posts in here.
For what it is worth, i am going to try taking a different method.
Since the Taito controller worked just fine for the real table, i am going to let the controller run the script.
Just going to take some time to put it together
Hi Weisshund,
Ok do as you prefer, of course,
I wrote the above just in case you were miss it.
Have a nice day.
Massimo
Great Table, a lot of fun, Thanks. The only small issue I had was the table came in upside down, just had to set the POV, Fullscreen rotation to 270. Keep Rocking!!
This is getting better and better! This one is the best update yet. I'm using Ultra DMD and it still looks good.
Thank you for bringing this baby back to life!
Heinz

Are you perhaps ignoring the message asking you to set your player options?
Or if you are in exclusive full screen mode, alt tab, you'll see it.
Have to pick your player options, it's noted in the readme and here on the download page.
