The_Web ProPinball
This is "The Web" by the Pro Pinball Team, made originally in 1996 as a computer game - now in VPX.
This PC pinball game was my first real simulation at that time. It got me hooked instantly and I remember placing a paper sheet with the main insert texts in front of my monitor, as the screen resolution did not allow readable insert texts on the playfield.
Two years ago I wrote an e-mail to the Pro Pinball team to ask for their opinion about a Visual Pinball remake of that table. Adrian Barrit replied soon and gave me permission to proceed with the VPin version. Unfortunately he was not able to contribute any material. So I searched the web for "The Web". I found a decent playfield image to start a redraw with and detailed table rules and strategies by Erik Mooney and Jonas Martinsson.
I still have the game CD, so I recorded the table callouts, the main music and used UltraPeepi's UltraDMD for the DMD display and animations.
Zany created the 3D models and textures of the space ships and some playfield details as Flippers, Bumper caps, Flashers.
PinballWiz45b did a great job testing the table and pointing out several bugs and issues.
Arngrim added the DOF code and changed the B2S activation to the new controller file, so no more "B2S = True" parameter has to be set.
The table needs Ultrpeepi's DMD module to run. Please install it first and place the folder "The Web.UltraDMD" in the same directory as the table file.

The music tracks must be unzipped and copied to Your "Visual Pinball\Music" folder.
With version 1.2 I added an Up-Post at the top loop during the Ammo Dump Mission. Now this mission is a bit more balanced and worth going for as the ball is feeded towards the bumper on any loop shot. The post can be deactivated in the configuration section at the top of the script.
Thanks again to Adrian Barritt for his permission to proceed.
Have fun and please use the support topic to post any findings and suggestions

Man, what an amazing port from an amazing table. Incredible smooth play, thanks to ditto physics, this is simply a blast to play.
I still have the original version, but i prefer this port way more now.
Thanks alot for so much dedication to bring this table to VPX!
One can only hope that Big Race USA will be a future project, but I am sure that would be an extremely difficult task.
Anyway, being able to play a revised version of 'the Web' is already very cool.
Thanks again Michael!
I have everything installed and it is running on my cab (b2s, DMD, music, etc.)... HOWEVER... I can not launch the ball! It just sits there on the plunger. I have a VirtuaPin™ Digital Plunger Kit v3 and it is working with all other tables.
What do I need to do to get this working with your table?
Thanks!
Just to be clear, I am able to launch the ball by pressing the ENTER key on my keyboard... which will do for now, I guess. But, I'd really like to get this to work with the Digital Plunger.
EDIT: I figured it out! All I had to do was select the plunger object, open settings, and check the "Auto Plunger" checkbox. Now, the ball launches by pulling back and releasing the plunger.
Table is awesome now that everything's working perfectly!
Any plans for a VPX Timeshock!?
Great Table, and plays very close to the original one
Props for a fenomenal work!
You made a Pro Pinball Table that the idea of Visual Pinball came from..
,if it was not for PP this would not exist.. I love The Web, best table out of all of them, even if Timeshock has a ultra version.
It can't load the music ...? Bass Music/sound library cannot load ,,, bgout_The Web 12 Menu Theme.mp3, table don't work...??
Got the music working, the mp3 files need to go into music folder but not in is own folder but now I can't see the table, its like its invisible,is it running in the right res..? anyone help please anyone had this problem..?
Thank you Michael for the really nice recreation from pro pinball ![]()
