Mayberry, What If?

Version: 2
Category: VP 8.x Originals

Author(s): tiltjlp

Description:
My version of what Mayberry might have been, based on the first five seasons of the Andy Griffith Show. An original table with a Captive Ball feature, and store credits for good behavior. Press R for how to redeem them.
What if Barney hadn't left after the 5th season, but had stayed and married Thelma Lou? What if the two Floyd's had both owned the barber shop? What if Bert Miller's Vacant Lot Store had stayed in business? These are just some of the changes I wish had happened to my all-time favorite TV show. That's the basis for my Mayberry, What If? table.

In Season 5's Barney Runs For Sheriff, what if Barney had won the election? If he had, I'm sure that the Town Council would have offered Andy a monthly bonus to stay on as their deputy, to protect Mayberry, and Barney, from Barney. Maybe marrying Thelma Lou would have given Barney common sense, a thing he seemed to lack.

I liked Walter Baldwin, the 1st Floyd, but would not have wanted to miss out having Howard McNair as Floyd too, so what if they both had owned and ran the barber shop? Just think who much funnier the show would have been with two nitwit barbers, both named Floyd.

Sterling Holloway as Bert Miller was a wonderful character. What if Andy's joke had turned true, and Bert's vacant lot stand had been a success? It would have driven Ben Weaver up the wall, and provided a lot of humor. And who knows, Ben might have been friendlier, and offered some bargains in his store if he had had some competition.

I also wish Dick Elliot, who was Mayor Pike, hadn't died, since I liked him much better then Mayor Stoner. And as much as I liked Ellie, I loved Sue Ann Langdon, who was Mary Simpson in Three A Crowd. I would have like it if she had been hired instead of Ellsinore Donahue, and had stayed with the show. So, while I love and watch TAGS as it is, I have always wondered if it wouldn't have been even better, and ran longer, with my changes.

So, Mayberry, What If is my version of one of the best TV classics ever. I've included plenty of images, so you can make my table into what you wish the show had been.

Folks,

This game is VERY FUN and quite funny! The "credit" allows you to buy certain things at the store!

This is an interesting premise to "original" VP tables and I encourage EVERYONE to donwload this!!!

EXCELLENT JOB JOHN!!! BRAVO!!!

You know where I'm at and it isn't here. I'm not appreciated here (nor are my table releases) so I have no respect for a small group of folks here and they KNOW who they are and I KNOW WHO THEY ARE.

I've been treated with nothing but disdain and disrespect (EXTORTION, DOXXING, harassment, threats and blackmail) here at VPF so you can find me at Pinball Nirvana.

KNOW THE TRUTH BEFORE you CONDEMN SOMEONE.

They KNOW who they are and use a particular chatroom to talk BS about others behind their back (I know about this too and WHO EACH OF THEM are.)

Glad you enjoyed it Will. If you do play it, read the Table Information for MY version of Mayberry, it'll help the table make a bit more sense. Quite a bit faster than my usual lazy bagatelle..
