Strikes and Spares

Version: 1.0.0
Category: VPinMAME 9.x Recreations

Author(s): The Trout, unclewilly

Description:
Strikes and spares vp9 4:3
Strikes and spares vp9 4:3

Table built by The Trout scripted and additional building by unclewilly.
Thanks to noah and jp for nudge and plunger system
Table is set up to be compatible with the diy plunger or pin wizard controller
you can use either the analog plunger or the plunger key

Included in the table zip is a text document which explains the dip switch settings. I recommend you set the dips how you like them, the factory settings are a little on the conservative side IMO

I hope you enjoy it

I don't know why but this crashes VP every time it tries to load. First time I'm experiencing this, strange. Night Mod works fine though. Strange that this version does that ah well I prefer the night mods anyway. wink.gif

In a word, *whoa*. I don't get to play many VP9 recreations without running out of video memory, but if these are the standardised VP9 flipper and physics settings I've been hearing about, they feel and play JUST like an old 70s machine should.

I'll definitely be nicking these for Jabberjaw. smile.gif

Unfortunately, I had to disable HR & Direct Draw to be able to play the table at 1024x768. dry.gif
I lost a lot of the graphics but at least I could experience the unbelievable physics, simply THE BEST of all the tables I have played on a computer. You guys Have set a new standard for ball flow & physics in VP.Thank you for this. otvclap.gif otvclap.gif otvclap.gif

From what I understand, (stop me if I´m wrong) my problems are caused by hi-res pictures, wich means that I will have to learn are to resize pictures in VP, & wich images need resizing.

Maybe one of the wizards could, in another thread, explain me (us) how to do this so that I (we) could fully enjoy this masterpiece & the following ones.........

In the editor, load the table and go to the 'table' dropdown menu, and choose 'image manager'. I think there are 5 images in this table that you would need to 'export'. (PF, PF On, PFA, PFB, Plastics) (I didn't check them all, but I am assuming that is all of them).

Once they are exported to a folder, open up 'PF' in Photoshop, or another utility that will resize images. In photoshop, go to the 'image' menu, and choose "image size".. change the dimensions to 1024x1024 and save it under the same name and type (jpg I think).

Back in the editor, in the image manager, click on 'PF' and choose 're-import from' on the right-side menu. Direct it to the folder where you saved your 1024x1024 image and it will re-import it.

Continue with the next 4 images the same way..

Although, remember you had problems with my table, and all of my images are 1024x1024.

Thank you so much unclewilly and Trout for releasing this game. One of my older favourites; I've been looking forward to this since Trout's wip page. On a personal note, looks like I won't be able to get the pincab done until next Summer at the very least, so having this 4:3 version to play with is bloody appreciated!

Well, I just tried both this version and the night mod. The best compliment I can provide: it plays as good as it looks. What's really cool here is that the night mod, because of some tweaks outside the graphics, plays different and I really like that. It's kind of like when you go play a strikes and spares at the bowling alley, and then you play one in a friends basement. You'll have the difference in the graphics for sure, but also because of rubber wear, personal settings, etc., the table will also play a bit different and these two releases seemed to have hit a good memory for me.

Thanks again!

Rob

Yup, I have to ditto all the great thing said about this table. Plays and looks as good as it gets. I've always loved the layout and ruleset on this, and now I'll be chasing new highscores for awhile. Great teamwork guys.
