Hat-Trick 1.0

Version: 1.0.0
Category: VP 8.x Originals

Author(s): The Wizards Hat

Description:
A 1 or 2 player football (soccer) game.In single player mode, you can play single matches, or even a full league and cup season against the computer.
Welcome to the 1st Visual Pinball game I ever tried to write...I started in 2001 and have been building it on and off since then!

A 1 or 2 player football (soccer) game. (Or the computer will just play itelf if you want).
In single player mode, you can play single matches, or even a full league and cup season against the computer. The league consists of 8 teams, and you play a 14-week season; along the way you play in the cup, which consists of the 8 league teams and 8 non-league teams.
Games can be saved, including your league & cup history over many seasons.
Goals can be replayed in slow-motion.
Cup games have extra-time and penalties as necessary.

I appreciate that the code for this may be very scruffy, as when I started I knew nothing about programming VPin, VP was on ver 4(!) and I've added to, and changed, this so many times it doesn't bear thinking about :-) However, ANY comments about how to change/improve this table would be greatly welcomed :-)
Also If anyone would like to improve this table graphically I would really appreciate the help (graphics are certainly *not* my strong point!)

That is AWESOME!

Great job on your first table! Very creative and unique.

I got my butt kicked, but I'll be back to whoop the blue team.

What's VP+?
...Netplay - obviously!!

No, but, is it a separate program or a competition, or...?

Cheers,
Dan.

vpPlus is a .dll program you can access via table script, yes for netplay (two people) and it has a few other graphic enhancements for vp as well as some mouse control. (clicking images, for menus etc..)

You can find it at http://www.pinball-o....com/portal.php

btw: I had been lurking your posts about your school project. I wish I a few more instructors like you when I was in school. Good job. smile.gif

In the brief time I played your table... This is awesome!

Sorry to say though, this setup would not work so well across an internet connection because of the delay. The opposing flippers would be a half second off or so. You would have to foresee where the ball is in order to hit flipper at the right time.
It would probably work just fine over a highspeed lan though.

Your creativity rocks, using vp beyond it's intended purpose for pinball.

Cheers to you.

Thanks very much blush.gif

It's one of the first concepts I thought of when I first came across VP and realised that it had the potential to make pinball games that couldn't be made in reality...mixed in with the idea of a 2-player head-to-head pinball game (I'd originally seen a picture of the Gottlieb Challenger and thought how cool it would be)

One of the best things about doing this table for me has been what it's taught me about coding...when I started I knew nothing about VB scripting (I did have an understanding of other programming languages) - but over the years I've come to realise that there is nothing that you can't do with this program and a lot of patience!

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this table might be improved by VP9 - no ball through flipper! Could be odd, as this table almost makes a feature of it. Also, does this mean that Flipper_hit finally works?? It's been listed as a flipper event since VP4 (at least) but never actually worked...it could make big difference to this table in terms of possesion routines. [I've not had chance to look at VP9 yet, but have the next week off work, so as long as I can keep the wife happy, I'll have time to spend on it!]

Cheers,
Dan.

Err...this is maily a reply to faralos, but for some reason I can't seem to get PM to work at the moment!? whtflag.gif

Anyway, faralos wrote:

Wow! how did you put two tables together like that? i tried that and it wouldnt work for me! i was thinking of linking two together with a ramp but so far the ball wont travel outside of the first tables sides.

Not sure what you mean...all I did was change the width from 1000 units to 2000 - then copied the outer wall & flipped it.
I also raised the glass height to 1000, just to be sure it'd never get in the way.

Talking of glass height...does anyone here know if anyone has ever made a table that uses it as a feature?
I have no idea how/what you'd do...just wondering...mostly wondering why it's set in VP at all, but seeing as it is, has anyone utilised it?

Regards,
Dan.
