Goldeneye (Trout Mod 1.2, VP91x)

Version: 1.2
Category: VP 9.x MOD Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): Pingod / UncleReamus / Destruk (Original Table), The Trout (Mod)

Description:
A high resolution graphics mod of the Sega table from 1996.

---
Version 1.2
---

A quick and dirty update to include alpha ramps, since they look considerably better than the checkerboards. They aren't the greatest alpha ramps ever, but they'll do. If someone thinks they can improve up on them, they're more than welcome to, since I suspect I won't be updating this table again myself.

---
Version 1.1
---

Changed the physics. I think the game plays better now. Additionally, the eject hole shouldn't cause any more insta-drains. It still falls out fairly randomly, but catching it shouldn't be a problem.

---
Version 1.0
---

* Updated various tidbits to make the table play well in VP9.
* Replaced every graphic on the table with high resolution artwork.
* Rebuilt all the ramps.
* Deleted every backbox decal and EMReel, then replaced them with objects on the table itself - this includes the tank, chopper, and signs, which were all built in 3D using walls.
* Tweaked some aspects of the layout.

KNOWN BUGS:

* Sometimes the ball can be seen through the dish image when rolling out of the bumpers and under the dish. I know about this and it can't really be helped at the moment.
* Sometimes the locks don't work. It's weird, and I'm not sure why, but it happens.

Nice, Thanks!

Just had a quick game, seems very good. Any chance of adding ball sound effects though trout, like when it hits targets and just general ball rolling sounds, like JP tables?, also the flipper sound could do with being beefed up abit. Other than that seems to play great!! Looking forward to your street fighter table smile.gif

Thank you, nice job so far Trout, I agree with Lettuce on the flipper and ball sounds, maybe even ball collision?? This adds a lot to the table, if you haven't played the new Monster Bash table lately. smile.gif Looks great and plays well so far.

I totally agree and think that FS tables should all be about quality from this point forward. No table should be without the flipper and ball sounds!

I just recently went through and downloaded and tested all of the FS tables from the downloads section here. I can't beleive that some of these tables were modded to FS using their poor images. I think FS tables should all be about quality now instead of quantity. They should be done using only the best high resolution images possible.

BTW - this table is quality and the requested updates will only make it even better.

Hey, there's a reason I'm doing what I'm doing! I feel the same way. The lower resolution images in older VP tables just don't hold up.

That said, I have no idea how to add those spiffy ball sounds. Don't suppose anyone could point me in the right direction? A tutorial of some sort, maybe?

There's a good chance that the graphics used were all that was available to them. Can you name some of the tables and I'll see if I have any high resolution images in my archives that could be used for improvements. You probably should start a new thread for this so it won't clog up this release thread.

I know on every table release there always seems to be someone who says that it doesn't work for them, and i really hate to be that person now, but all I get is a big black shadow over everything! (except the bumpers, flippers, and the ball, ect.)
I wouldn't waste you guys' time with asking this, but the past few downloads, as well as other random ones from the past do this!
I'm just curious why everyone else can get great results while mine acts up. I've got the newest version of VP.
Has anyone been through this problem in the past but now knows the solution to it?

It would be best if you posted a screenshot so that we could help you. Maybe try enabling Hardware Rendering?

This could possibly be a video driver issue... Please post more specific information that might better help diagnose the problem.

Make sure you are saving the table after you check the HR box, close the table or VP all together, then reload the table.

subzero demands a 4:3 version also seeing as how he plays no games in full screen

joeheeger .. I got the same error for some Tables in the past.
When started through VP you get a 'black playfield'.

Try starting the Table through the HyperPin FrontEnd and my problem was completely gone! smile.gif
Make sure you've got the 'Render Shadows' and 'HD Render' ticked.

Hope this helps.

The Trout .. splendid mod! A Very Enjoyable Table!
Thanks!

Cheers,
FD.

As opposed to lo-res, inferior images? I'm sure the tables' authors DID use the best possible they had. I am ALWAYS gathering every possible resource I can, and it's no small task.

I don't think you understand that these resources are not always available.

Instead of crusading for better images, please point me in the direction of this fabled resource only you seem to know of.
