Cirqus Voltaire (Scapino)

Version: 3.0.0
Category: VPinMAME 8.x Recreations

Author(s): scapino

Description:
Fantastic recreation of one of the greatest tables ever made.
Notable Features: The neon on the right ramp is available in a variety of colors.

The only Williams pinball machine with its dot matrix display mounted "on" the playfield instead of in the backbox. The only other pinball with the DMD mounted on the playfield is Capcom's 1996 'Flipper Football'.

This game has a pop bumper that "disappears" into the playfield, a feature last seen on four Williams games of the late 50's and early 60's. When retracted into the playfield, the top of the pop bumper is level with the playfield.

Toys: The Ringmaster: An animated head that elevates from the underside of the playfield and makes wise cracks at the player, who tries to defeat him by hitting him with the pinball in various modes. The menagerie ball, a large plastic ball trapped within a cage above the left kicker; can be hit by the pinball and disrupts ball direction.

Cool Table. I like it. For some reason when I start it I get a message that says I need version 3.26 of the WPC.vbs script. After I say OK it lets me play.

Great recreation, but sadly I have a small issue, there's horizontal lines across the playfield. Noticed that others had same issue, but didn't found solution for it. With this horizontal lines (like parts of picture on top of each other) it's impossible to play. Any ideas how this could be fix, downloading table again doesn't fix it.

This may be a graphics issue especially with Nvidia onboard graphics if you have ATI graphics chips/Card then I'd beeter pass this on to another expert as I have no problems with ATI graphics.

I can't believe there aren't more comments!

I think this is an incredible achievement, and I really want to thank you for this. Unfortunately, I have to disable some of the lights to play it on my old computer. wink.gif

By the way, Kurt, I was trying to use some of the assets you made available - the .cob files. I couldn't get them to load in Truespace. This is my first time using Truespace, and I downloaded the latest version.

Do I need an older version of Truespace, or what program can I open them up with?

CM...

You probably need to be in the modeler side of truespace. The new version is really 2 programs in one. It defaults to the newer, workspace side when you start it up. This is for real-time, DX9 modeling and rendering.

The .cob files are for the older modeler side of truespace. Click on the modeler tab at the top. The use the File menu on the modeler window. Be sure NOT to use the diplicate file menu, just above the other one. Thats for loading workspace/newer rs style files.

If I remember correctly it used a different technique for the plunger on this table, basically it used one button for pulling the plunger up and down and another to actually launch the ball, it made for a more accurate plunger release. The way I fixed the problem was to assign the Number Keypad down arrow(number 2 on the Number Keypad on your keyboard)as the plunger in VP. Then the Number 2 on the keypad will be used as your plunger and for this table will be used to pull the plunger down or up and the regular down arrow will be used to release the ball. Hopefully I explained this correctly, I just got up and may have missed a few points LOL.
