Hey everyone!

Statsman1 here - I have lurked here for years, and did some playing of virtual pinball on a single screen using keyboard, which isn't quite the experience I want any more.  I did own a 1968 Gottleib FunLand for a while (having almost completely restored it before selling it due to moving house), and I have loved pinball for 50+ years.

So, after successfully building a couple of MAME cabinets, I have decided to give building a VPin cabinet a shot.

It will be rather basic to start, and hopefully, once the essentials are working properly, I will add to it with more of the bells and whistles.

I am starting with an iPac to get the buttons down and working, then will look at getting a PinOne mini/ultra and a DOF device.

Anyway, I am not even slightly woodworking-inclined; I am an amateur at any power tool that uses...well, power...and I definitely adhere to the rule "Measure twice, cut three times, go back to the store for more" and this will take longer than it would most of you guys, I am sure.  I am just looking forward to having some fun and working on a project for the next few weeks and having a really nice addition to the game room when completed.

Day One - computer, monitors, Baller Installer.  The computer is an i7-10700K with 32GB RAM, GPU is an RTX 2070 Super (8GB), monitors are 34" LG, 22" BenQ and a 10" Eyoyo.  This may not run the latest machines, but it will run SO many of the older machines that I grew up playing and enjoying.  (Anyone remember the machine that snaps, "QUIET!  We are playing." when the get-the-jackpot feature ended?)

The goal is to build a VPin that can fold up (I am sure you guys have seen examples) and while I get the computer and monitors squared away, I am mulling over options for this folding feature.  I do not want it fastened to the wall (well, my wife doesn't...), and I would like the folding in/out to require as little human interaction as possible.  I am also looking at adding SSF up front, and DOF later (as I mentioned).

ONWARD!  Thanks, everyone, in advance, as I am sure I will have tons of questions.

Welcome.

Terminator-2 is also in my top-5.

Sounds good. Those screens will work fine (and are proportional to each other, for their jobs). Sounds like it will end-up at 90% regulation size (like mine) ... which isn't really a mini-cab. Those are also good specs on the gaming-computer. I run Intel/Nvidia everywhere now-days (well, on Win-Tel machines like desktops and laptops).

But I wonder ... what sections do you plan to be "folding"? Do you plan on installing/using analog-nudge? For that (and just in general) these pinball cabinets need to be very rigid and sturdy.

Hi Tesla!

Thank you for your comments!

No, I doubt I will get into nudging in the analog sense.  The "folding" comes from moving the playfield from legs-on-the-floor to flat up against the wall (or the stand that holds it).  There are some pictures I could paste here, but I don't want to violate anyone's copyright, but I was inspired by this post...I hope offering a link here does not create a problem.

Something like this is the goal, as I don't have the space to have a table out permanently.
