Hi everyone,

after around ten years, Ive brought my V-Pin back to life from the basement. And I have to say, it still works great. 🙂

Since I wanted to start playing again and modernize the cabinet at the same time, the first thing I did was replace my old playfield with a 4K OLED. This obviously also required a hardware refresh, so I installed a new PC and did a completely clean Windows 11 installation.

I then reinstalled everything using the Baller Installer, configured DOF, and restored my old configuration files that I still had saved.

Surprisingly, everything went very smoothly. At this point pretty much everything is working perfectly again except for my old original PinDMD V1.

I simply cant get it to connect properly via USB under Windows 11. I have already copied the required files from the PinDMD1 folder created by the Baller Installer into the VPinMAME folder, but unfortunately that didnt solve the problem.

I have also already tried Zadig. Windows initially detects the PinDMD as a serial USB device / COM port, and I used Zadig to switch that device over to libusb-win32. Unfortunately, I still couldnt establish a working connection to the PinDMD V1.

We have also tried several different USB/FTDI drivers. Windows does recognize the board itself, but I just cant get a working connection between the board and the pinball software.

The PinDMD was working perfectly before I rebuilt the system, so I would obviously prefer to keep using it rather than replace perfectly good hardware.

Is anyone here still running an original PinDMD V1 successfully under Windows 11?

Is there a particular older USB/FTDI driver that I need, or some other trick that Im missing? Maybe someone has already solved the same problem or knows the correct combination of driver and PinDMD1 files.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
