Hi All,

The buttons on my new cab aren't working - when I go into Pinup Popper's Controller Setup, it opens the ControllerForm window as it should, but I'm getting a message at bottom right that says

"NOTICE!!! Duplicate bindings found!!

Duplicate Keyboard Binding Function:

>>Page Prior

Duplicate Joystick Binding function:

>>Exit Emulators

It won't allow me to edit any of the values in the Joycodes column, just flashes like it's wigging out.

Getting really frustrated as I only get about 2-4 hours a week to devote to this, if I'm lucky, and just not making much progress on getting the buttons to work. Using the CSD hardware if that helps...so far my beautiful new cab with graphics and games loaded is a giant paperweight...lol.

I guess that's your Front-End's config ? (complaining like that)

One of the things I learned early-on is that during initial setup, it's widely suggested to NOT use a Front-End ... and with old wireless Keyboard and Mouse if you need them ... load-up your favorite tables from VPX-Editor and see how they play natively. So, that might work for you in this case also.

It's in Pinup Popper's setup - I thought that was pretty ubiquitous now with all these setups, but not sure  Getting to the point where I'm wondering if anyone dials into systems remotely and can sort out that way.  Most hardware makers don't seem to offer much detail, or if they do it's not explicit enough, or about slightly different hardware, or stop just short of what you need to get things going...

Like Tesla commented, I would hook up a mouse and keyboard first, and run each emulator you are using first (VPX, Future Pinball, etc), and configure the buttons in each emulator to your controller. Read the link above for more info.

Thanks - so when you're in the ControllerForm window, you should be able to double-click the arrow for each row (Exit Emulators, Game Help, etc.), and change the keyboard number and/or Joy Code?  That's what it' won't let me do - I just get the:

"NOTICE!!! Duplicate bindings found!!

Duplicate Keyboard Binding Function:

>>Page Prior

Duplicate Joystick Binding function:

>>Exit Emulators

1. It's in Pinup Popper's setup - I thought that was pretty ubiquitous now with all these setups, but not sure

2. Getting to the point where I'm wondering if anyone dials into systems remotely and can sort out that way.

3. Most hardware makers don't seem to offer much detail, or if they do it's not explicit enough, or about slightly different hardware, or stop just short of what you need to get things going...

1. There are several popular Front-Ends ... I use Pinball-Y and there are others.

2. Certainly possible. But as the cabinet owner, there is not much (initial config and/or troubleshooting) you can skip-over-now that you are not going to need eventually later.

3. Seem like more of a DIY project to me, unless you buy a turn-key machine like VirtuaPin pre-built.

I think that error means what is says ...

https://www.google.c...inding Function

Google AI Overview

PinUp Popper's "Duplicate Binding" error (keyboard or joystick) occurs when multiple actions are mapped to the same key/button, frequently appearing after upgrading to 64-bit releases. To fix, open PinUp Popper Config, go to the button mapping sections, and clear or rebind conflicting entries, ensuring each joystick button/keyboard key is unique.

I'm not much on "AI" but it can often lead you to answers

Absolutely - unfortunately it won't let me make any changes or do anything to the settings, so was hoping someone had experienced the same thing at some point. Beginning to think it might be a hardware issue...

The "NOTICE!!!  Duplicate bindings found!! hint is normal since baller-install. V1.5. That's the case in the out-of-the-box installation. "Exit emulators" and "System Menu" are mapped to the Escape key.

That has no impact for the function, at first. The keymapping needs to be carefully considered to avoid overlaps with permanently assigned keys, as in Future Pinball.

I would only use keyboard keys, not joystick keys. Problems sometimes arise with joystick keys. And its's easy to write a key-hook tool using AutoHotkey, as I have done for special purposes (descr. in my docu)

And it's much easier to debug keyboard keys. you can open notepad to check the key mapping, when pressing a flipper button. Or more comfortable the use of a tool like keyboardStateView from nirsoft http://www.nirsoft.n...state_view.html

you can take a look in my documentation (link in the footer) where I have described in Ch.15 the config of the key mapping in detail

1. Strange that is the default. It is making new PUP users like @guitaural think it's broken or mis-configured.

2. That's some very nice documentation you have there. Good work. I saved a copy. I would have loved to have this back when I was setting up my Pinscaped-KL25z, DOF, SFF-7.1, Pin-Vol, etc.

I use Pinball-Y. Definitely a different install experience. The complications are optional and really only if you choose to extend its functionality with Javascript Addins.
