I have come across 2 different monitors that I am considering and wondering if anyone has any thoughts .  Both I am considering buying used for 400 each

One is a lg oled 42" c2 tv

The second is a lg  48" 48gq900-b gaming monitor.

The obvious difference is the size but even without decasing it is 21.3" to 24.6 inches wide, which I feel i can deal with on a custom build.  Other thing I am wondering about if it will matter are the gloss screen of the tv vs the matte screen of the monitor.  The max brightness  on the moniter is 330 cd/m2, but i cant find specs on the tv( I believe tvs are brighter, but the monitor is made for gaming).  I know the larger will have black bars on the side to achieve correct length, but is that a big deal?  Anything else you would consider?  Both have  the same 4k 120hz oled screen.

I'm trying to source the playfield first to build a custom cabinet around, so I don't have pc specs ill use yet.

Just my 2 cents...

The 48" will give you a full size standard table (approx. 42" x 20.25") with a 1" or so black bar on each side and you will need a custom cabinet or wide body.  The 42" will give you a approx. 90% full table size and should fit in a standard body cabinet.  If ya have the room, I'd take the 48" monitor.  I don't think the matte screen will be an issue, there are lots of reviews on U tube you can check out to be sure.  I have a 25" wide custom cabinet and it feels just fine width wise.  Plus, sometimes TVs are tricky to setup so they come on and shut off when and how you want.

When you want to use a protective glass for the playfield the matte monitor could be better. A glossy monitor has some mirroring effect, same goes for the protective glass. I don't have any experience with V-Pin cabinets so far but I would fear some double mirroring between monitor and glass. It's ust an idea of mine, but proably someone  else with an glossy monitor inside a cabinet can clarify. The two monitors I use for my 2 screen setup are matte but their picture looks brilliant and glossy. Personally I do prefer matte dislays in genereal because of less/none mirroring.

The second is a lg  48" 48gq900-b gaming monitor.

I would go with this one above because:

Matte panel-finish (Anti-Glare & Low Reflection)
16:9 aspect ratio (4K res oled)

Display-Port Input and 120Hz

Compatible with both Nvidia G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync

What's not to like? Sounds awesome to me.
