when I install the normal release build of 10.8.0 the ball sinks like a stone and does weird stuff around magnets.  when I install any of the 10.8.1 pre-releases the ball floats like a feather and never comes down.

Before i hose the OS and start over, (although I think it was like that out of the gate), I thought i would ask if anyone had any ideas?

running an i7, dell Inspiron motherboard, with a 500W power supply, NVidia gtx1070.   EVERY TABLE has taken on these same physics depending on the version of VP I'm running (release sinks - pre-release floats).  my first thought what that somehow the table physics settings were getting overridden by global settings but can't find a place for that unless it is in the registry.

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.   I always fight for a couple days before resorting to posting.  Thank you for your consideration!

I've done clean installs on other machines and there is never an issue, just not the one I want to use in my cab.  such is life.
