Please explain to me why the sync options are so weird. When I set sync to Vsync I get 45 fps. If I set it to Adaptive Sync I get 135 fps. If I set it to No Sync I get 110-120 fps. If I set to Frame Pacing I get 144 fps but out of nowhere it will drop to 32fps and get stuck there until I exit the table (Medieval Madness by VPW). If I set a framerate limit in the box to say 120 I get some arbitrary framerate like 113. MAKES NO SENSE. I have about had it with this ancient DX9 stuff as well. VPX severely needs to update to DX11 at minimum. Can't stay DX9 forever.

That above seems as expected.

Be sure HAGS is OFF.

Also Virtualization-Based Security should be OFF on Windows-box running a pinball-cabinet.

But I haven't had an AMD card in a long-time (I've been running Nvidia lately).

I don't think its "as expected". I play WAY more graphically demanding games than this. You are assuming that because the hardware is older I should get low fps? In Monster Bash made by VPW I get 300+ fps so this is not as expected. I have mainly been playing Monster Bash so I didn't know there was an issue until I loaded up Medieval Madness by VPW as well. I then loaded up Monster Bash again and noticed the sync issues are the same but the base framerate on this table is high enough that I wasn't noticing the lower fps caused by VPX sync settings. I only turned my telemetry on when I noticed awful ball stutter in Medieval Madness. The things you listed are off.

Sorry to further disprove your point but I noticed before going to bed this morning that setting my monitor to landscape in Windows Display Settings and launching a table provides correct sync and smooth gameplay locked at 120fps. I am trying to play on a vertically flipped monitor set to portrait. When set in portrait VPX completely ignores my framerate limit set in my graphics driver (120fps) and framerate is all over the place from 700fps (depending on table) down to what I listed for the sync options. When I set the monitor to landscape mode this does not happen and my framerate limit is respected. I figure I am going to have to edit all my tables and rotate them for landscape mode and just deal with inverted mouse movements when outside of a table. Thanks for the reply though.

@PeenBaller yes the recommend setup is all monitors in landscape mode. You might also want to take a look at the frame pacing faq here: https://docs.google....wIQ/mobilebasic

Yea frame pacing is as it should be when windows is in landscape mode. Now my problem is you cannot rotate Flex/Ultra DMD to match the table... that I'm aware of. If I rotate the playfield with my monitor vertical the dmd is obviously now in the wrong orientation. is there any way around this other than putting the dmd on a separate screen? I only have a single monitor and im not interested in in all the backglass / dmd / topper stuff. I have an arcade with the real deals down the street that allows all day play for $12 from 10am to 12am.At home I just want to play on a single monitor with the playfield oriented to match the monitor when turned vertical and have a little dmd in the bottom left. Except I cannot rotate the dmd.

Sounds like you're out of luck, as far as I understand FlexDMD is not designed to be rotated.

So it seems your only options are using desktop mode (landscape view, so you wouldn't have the vertical playfield), using the VPinMame internal table DMD (that one can be rotated, but you'd be missing out on non-ROM based tables), or using an external monitor. Maybe a small 7" or 9" USB powered panel to stick on top of the rotated monitor? I had a similar solution with an old tablet before I built my cab.
