Hi,

I have been trying to get FP to work on Linux mint 22. I have read the pinned post > https://www.vpforums...?showtopic=4766 < but have a number of issues.

1. It appears that the original version of FP is not available, or is somehow locked, I am getting an error saying:

Website blocked

The site you have requested is blocked because of Personal Internet settings.
If you are the admin of your internet account, you may log in and unlock this page.

I'm not sure if this is due to my firewall, or what, but right now I cannot download the installer.

2. However I have a version installed on a very old PC I still have hanging around, Copying the files over allows me to run fp using wine and I can load tables.

As many found in the linked post FP will not accept coins or start, but will respond to nudge, escape etc.

Since I cannot install via the script, I am somewhat stuck. I tried to install fp via the lutris link, which took me to a Back to the Future table, but the install error-ed out apparently saying I don't have sed installed (I know I do!) and then hanging trying to download something from the ms web.

I am trying to ditch windows but given the pinned post is rather old and I don't want to necro it am wondering if it is even possible to get fp to run now?

I can see the .dlls listed in my wine install but they are significantly larger that the ones on the Windows pc.

Anyone suggestions where to start?

Its recommended that you DL and use the "Future Pinball and BAM Essentials AIO - Complete - 2.7 "

I DL it over on VPU which links to MEGA.

I thought I had my launch script working for FP but just tried and got some libgl error so I wil update from 2.6 to 2.7 and figure it out ;-)

I run under wine and switch up 32/64 and stable/dev/staging and dont recall having to fight with it much to get it running.

I tried my pinball launcher script (runs VP/FP either using standalone linux VP or wine for vp/fp using zipped tables) to run FP and got an error.

So I renamed my fp folder, extracted the current fp 2.7 zip.  Moved the future pinball folder over to where the renamed folder is. Here is the output from the error:

Wine 10 on linux Mint 22.1 x86-64:       2025-05-21

>Running Future Pinball under Wine-<
0024:err:wgl:init_opengl Failed to load libGL: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
0024:err:wgl:init_opengl OpenGL support is disabled.

I searched the web and found this so tried:

sudo apt install libgl1:i386

and that fixed it.  So now I am on the current 2.7 and seems to work well.

The command I use to run is:

WINEARCH=win32 WINEDEBUG=fixme-all wine "Future Pinball.exe" "/open %z:$ziptmp/$gamename /play /exit"

Any idea if you can get this to work on Steam Deck? It's the only Linux based PC I have, and of course I would love to get my own tables working on there using SteamOS.

Its been a long time since I last installed steam on my linux desktop.  Searching the web I only found mention of being able to run FP on your deck if it was setup to run windows :-(

You would think that steam/proton could run it but I expect that the whole system is only geared to run things pulled off the steam site/store.

Probably better off using a notebook with linux or windows to go portable...
