Thanks to Olivier Jacques a new LaunchBox plugin called DOFConnect now exists to integrate LaunchBox and DOFLinx.  This integration allows DOFLinx actions for events from LaunchBox.  So you can display marquees and messages on your DMD with DOF2DMD, action any toy that DOFLinx can run, ie flashers, undercab lighting, addressable LEDs, solenoids, bell, chimes, shaker, etc.

The instruction page is here https://doflinx.gith..._LaunchBox.html

and a video on the video page here https://doflinx.gith.../05_Videos.html

Enjoy  :yahoo:

Great work DDH69, one question though. "2. Make sure your emaultor "Titles" are the same as you emaulator folder names for DOF2DMD".

Does that work for Retroarch which have different cores to emulate each system?

I'm not familiar with Retroarch so I may be missing something here, but we haven't done any work with Retroarch.

Retroarch is just an emulator that can emulate alot of systems with different cores, can be used instead of several emulators in Launchbox. Since the change to the Launchbox DOF Connect plugin to use emulatornames instead of platformnames I dont know how to separate my logos for for my DMD since most of them are through the RetroArch emulator. So for example nes, snes, C64, ScummVM, Dreamcast, Amiga uses RetroArch on my Arcade. I hope you understand what I mean here :)

@sic79, got it - thanks.  To answer your original question, you could setup one Retroarch or multiple entries.  It really depends how you want to arrange your marquees (assuming you want them for all game types).  THe only requirement is that the emulator "Title" matches the \DOF2DMD\artwork\EmulatorName folder.  So you could either put them all in one called "Retroarch", or setup multiple emulator entries with titles like "C64", "Amiga" pointing to their own folders.

Ok, thanks for the answer, @DDH69. But lets put it this way, before the last change to the LaunchBox plugin, everything worked fine displaying logos/marquees for both systems and game names. I had set up DMD logos under each platform folder.

If I understand you correctly, I now either need to create multiple RetroArch entries with different names for each platform or put all logos in the same folder. If thats the case, it kind of defeats the purpose of RetroArch, which is designed to emulate multiple systems through its cores within a single application.

So based on the options you mentioned, the best solution right now would be to mix all logos under the RetroArch folder. I dont really like that approach, since I prefer a more polished setup with curated logos for each platformbut of course, its still better than having no logos/marquees at all. ;)

Sorry, you didn't say you were running under the last design.  The problem with the last method was that using the game's platform worked until you had playlists and grouping, like the default Mame setup, the platform could then return as "Shooter Em Ups" or "Light Gun Games" because they are lists under "Arcade" which could have a unique name of "MAME".

Keep using the old DLL for now and let me look at this further.  At the very least we might be able to offer the choice or emulator or platform!

@sic79, I have done an update to make the Source Category selectable between Emulator and Platform.  Would you like to take it for a test run and let me know the result?

It worked great, thank you very much!

Yes, start a thread if you're stuck, but because you tested, as a hint....

- RGB flipper and magna save are lit per game, so just define them with LINK_BUT_LF= etc https://doflinx.gith...ccckkdooocccckk

- Define all other buttons the same way then use BUTTONS_LIT_ADDED= https://doflinx.gith...addednnnnnnnnnn

- Look at my arcade cabinet in the sample INI files
